Product Spotlight: B5 Systems P-Grips for AR-15

- Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb is here to help us "get a grip" and talk about the P-Grip AR-15 pistol grip from B5 Systems. The ergonomically engineered P-Grip comes in two variations, the Type 22 and the Type 23. What's the difference? The Type 23 has a beavertail for use on standard "mil-spec" forged AR-15 lower receivers. The Type 22 has no beavertail, making it a great option for folks who just don't like the beavertail or have rifles with billet or non-standard lower receivers that don't work with the beavertail. The Type 22 works great on a Brownells BRN-180 lower.
One of the big benefits of the P-Grip is its more vertical angle compared to the standard A2 pistol grip. A lot of folks like the A2, but others prefer a more upright hold, especially on carbines with short stocks. The P-Grip angle positions your hand so you can reach the controls more easily. B5 Systems also omitted the A2's front finger-ledge, which some shooters find annoying. They gave the P-Grip an aggressive non-slip texture that won't tear up your hand but is a lot grippier than the molded checkering of a generic A2 grip. The texturing is only on the sides and front, leaving the backstrap smooth, which lets you move your hand as you change shooting positions without breaking your grip. Many "run-n-gun" competition shooters will like this.
B5 Systems offers the P-Grips in the standard colors: basic black, of course, as well as FDE for you Flat Dark Earth Society members, Coyote Brown, O.D. Green, and Caleb's favorite, Wolf Grey.
The P-Grip is hollow, with a completely open bottom, so B5 also offers a Grip Plug that snaps right into the void. It has cutouts for batteries, but you can put plenty of other items in there: lip balm, snacks, a Swiss Army knife. You know, the usual stuff you always need on your AR-15!
I just found out recently that B5 is just down the road from my house. Had absolutely no clue for years and would see the building and not really think about it and just thought "nah couldn't be the same people."

Sprinco's small bottle of MGL fits in the plug battery hole perfectly. I keep one of those and a CR123 in each grip plug. Lube for the BCG and spare battery for the Eotech.

B5 should include the plug with the grip. I still prefer BCM or Magpul, but it’s a nice grip. 🇺🇸 2A
I think more people are moving to lesser angle grips. I think the A2 is 22 to 25 degrees and the B5, Magpul K2, and others are going with 12 degree or less. I have the K2 XL on several carbines and gonna try a zero angle on a 6mmARC setup for long range target and possibly hunting.
You're going to like it a lot. I run a 0° on a little 300 pew and it's dope.
@BravoJulietAlpha that's awesome. I have a little 300blk pew that I would love one on. Also want to build out a precision lower with one for a Uintah Precision bolt action upper in 6ARC and smaller lighter gas upper for hunting.

I wish B5 would make an MLOK vertical grip to match the other offerings. I wish it was close to the BCM vertical mlok grip but with the B5 style and design.

I keep Skittles in my AR-15 grip. For some reason they get sweeter after you shoot with them in there for a bit. 🤔

The carbine length drop in is my favorite.
I have two of them, non beavertail. Great grip. FDE for me.😊 I put grip tape on the back of mine.

These are my favorite grips I got the type 23 for my 5.56 and my .308. The BCM Mod 3 VFG pairs perfect with the B5 grip.
I need to learn about their different grips. So far I'm partial to the Magpul K2+ grip, and BCM KAG angled grip.
I like the B5 grips. They have a good wrist position.
B5 Type 23 P grip (the one in this video) and Magpul K2 are my favorite grips. I like them better than the BCM grips
I run the K2 XL on several guns
Only reason I like the K2 over the B5 is the storage space...and the + has rubbery stuff.
@@clloydhi The Rubbery/+ grips suck when wet though. They feel very grippy when dry, but sweat or water they are very slippery, so I stick to the regular K2
P23 is my fav grip of all time. Hands down. All my rigs wear them!!

I don’t know anyone who still uses A2 grips. Most firearms come with Magpul, BCM…etc
Personally I prefer Magpul’s K series.

Great content & review: personally I would like B5 to add some kind of ribbing to the back strap. so to help prevent slippage with sweaty or wet hands, for better grip. also I would like to see B5 make a zero angle grip.

B5 and BCM make the best grips imo.
I like beaver tails, fit my hands better, I have large hands compared to the average guy and it helps me get a firm grip on it.

The front bump on the A2 grip kept rubbing against my middle finger and cause irritation
How should I store batteries in the grip? I’m doing so but just a bare battery😢
I like to wrap my batteries up with simple tissues. I line the interior with a tissue, then the battery gets it's own tissue wrapped around it. Weighs absolutely nothing and has enough "give" to where the battery doesn't bump or bounce around while being completely silent. If you don't have tissues you can use toilet paper. I've even seen people use their own cardboard they cut special to hold everything.
@@TerminalM193 I ended up putting mine in a ziploc bag and still managed to fit it in the grip plug. It is secure and for the most part waterproof
Can you guys make m lok handguard to match the b5 coyote brown? Would be a killer. So many guys want coyote but have to settle on fde
