- Large-scale low-level strike involving 19 Players, flown on the 4YA WW2 server for DCS.
Informations about the server can be found at projectoverlor...
wonderful video with wonderful planes, I love missions of this type, thanks to all participating pilots, I hope for more videos like this
This video technology is fascinating. I was a pilot years ago but I still stay connected with it. What a treat for the eyes. So very real looking.
Colleague was Mossie pilot in WW2. He would tell us of the low level raids through Holland. Dodgy bit he said was the AA barges and flak on the coast they had to pass through, following at night the moon lit canals. 5:52 reminded me of him, long gone now.
Wow I bet he had some harrowing stories to share. Can't even imagine how scary it must have been to fly in so low and fast and getting shot at
Hello Bobbie, I'm working on a documentary about the Mosquito, I'd love to speak to your colleague if he was willing?...
Animated or not, the Mossie was a beautiful bird to watch.
Oh yes very beautiful! I loved it since the first time I saw one as a kid 😁
My Freind said he flew them in ww2 a bit hairy at times but a good fighter made of wood excellent for dogfights
one small point on the animation. The engine start had the props turning in the same direction, if memory servers me right the props turned in opposite directions. Other than that great work guys, loved all the combat chatter
The Mosquito did not have handed engines. The props turned to the right on both engines.
@@Neneset It was a cheaper option.
Thanks a lot! Yes the other chaps were right, the Mossie did not have counter-rotating props, for ease of production if the Merlin engines. In contrast to most other twin egine planes of the war. I find the startup anination looks quite good in the DCS Mossie, but it would need some smoke to be perfect 😁
@@NightOwl91 Might be the original commentor (Randal C) was mistaking the Mosquito for the Hornet, the latter definitely had counter rotating props!
@@NightOwl91 For props turning the same direction the rudder area on the Mosquito looks a little small for an easy controlled take off of a tail wheeled aircraft with the power available with the Mosquito. The take off run must have been very long and delicate in order to balance the prop torque with the small rudder once the tail wheel lifted off the ground. For a similar planform look at the DC3 (props rotating the same direction like the Mosquito), although it was a transport, in relation to rudder area on the DC3 (C-47) which is rather massive compared to the Mosquito.
In the simulation I expected much more rudder input at the tail wheel lift off air speed. If you look at a real Mosquito taking off the power is applied so gradual as to not defeat the small rudder that it is not easy to fly. With a full bomb payload the take off run must have been rather long.
Those soldiers on the ground probably praying those were all duds and not delayed fuses!
Very good and organized, communication was good throughout mission, wasn't sure the landing was a re-arming stop?
Thank you very much! Comms were a bit hectic at times with 19 people talking 😆 yeah we repaired and rearmed at the advanced air fields and did a second sortie feom there afterwards
@@NightOwl91 outstanding job
I like your approach i do it similar by i use il2 GB and 1946 instead, good job, subbed.
Thanks you very much! I checked out your channel too, great videos! 😊
*The scene at **14:24** was the only bright spot in this video*
Lol I get it that you like to shoot Mossies down? 😂 Me too actually, and they burn so nicely 🔥
I loved il2 46 so much. But went to bos etc no player's
Avenging Angels they were.
NO SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST PIPES ON STARTUP??
No, unfortunately this is missing :-/ the start-up sound is pretty awesome though in my opinion
Waiting for you to do a better job. Anything stopping you ?
That was absolutely fantastic... thought you were flying a bit high though... treetops is better, hey just my opinion.
Is there a still big players community?.
I was wondering that to I like the approach to the game, however briefing are essential 🤔
@@ronaldwatson1951 Good point. Could be just voice over during takeoff. Lets the viewer know what the mission is all about.
@@jamesrussell7760 we're on the same sheet. It's my experience whenever there's a activity that requires more than one, planning is essential.
Why 5 exhaust stacks on each side of the engines?
Rolls Royce Merlin Engines
@@jsoc1956 6Cyls in each bank ,so the question still stands.
What game is this??
The game is DCS World (Digital Combat Simulator). And the flight was on a multiplayer PvP server that we run, 4YA OPERATION WW2.
@@NightOwl91 oh ok
Why are the crews goggles down, they are virtually never used in mosquitoes as there was no open cockpit as in single seat fighters . When are the animators going to grow up?
I always understood that WW2 combat missions departed British airfields under strict radio silence. German operators constantly monitored RAF frequencies, so Allied ATC takeoff clearances were given via coloured flares. Fliers in this video fantasy, if headed for Europe, could expect a very hot reception from the Luftwaffe.
You guys should tighten up your RT discipline. Lot of talking over each other. And, are you familiar with ID, like "Red three here....." (or whatever) , ending with "over". Very good flying! The Mossy is an awesome aircraft!
Lol yes very true 😆 that's the issue with using SRS and discord voice for comms, the SRS ones are quite good, but discord is more regarded as a free speech channel. Definitely something to work on, less chatter would also make flight leading much easier. Oh yes she is beautiful! 😊
Duplicated footage should be edited out
Bit of a joke, really. Fighter escort not above. Americans flying in support of Brits.
Fighter escort will never be above in a low-level intruder mission. The whole point of going in low is to pass below the enemy's radar coverage, which would not be possible if the escort would fly above.
it's a game for goodness sake. Get a grip.
Your fighter support should be flying CAP above you not in formation.
Ok maneuvering but your flight is kinda lazy. Bombers in groups of 3 with fighters support above.
Not really, the whole point of low-level intruder missions is to pass below the radar coverage. For such missions fighter escorts would always fly at the same height to the side and behind the Mosquitos. Only from the moment you are detected would the escort climb above. Our goal was rather to go in undetected, thus the low flying escort.
HI JONATHAN, HOW ARE YOU?? GEEZE, I'M SORRY IF MY ONE LITTLE COMMENT AND SUGGESTION ON YOUR OTHERWISE VERY NICE COMPUTER GENERATION OF THE "MOSSIE" WAS UPSETTING TO YOU, SO LET ME SAY RIGHT HERE : NO!! I COULDN'T DO ANYTHING BETTER THAN THAT!! AS A MATTER OF FACT, I'M A HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUT, COMPUTER ILLITERATE,, THAT DOESN'T OWN A CELL PHONE, OR AN ATM CARD, AND AM ONLY "ONLINE" BECAUSE MY WIFE GOT ME HERE!! AND I'M TYPING THIS ON A SMALL TABLET, WHICH IS WHY I USE MOSTLY CAPS, BECAUSE ITS EASIER TO ONLY HIT ONE KEY THAT WAY!! ( so no, I am not shouting, honest!! ) I WAS WONDERING, THOUGH, IF YOU COULD HAVE MAYBE SPLICED-IN SOME CLIPS OF THE MOSSIE STARTING-UP FROM THAT GREAT (??) MOSQUITO MOVIE, "633 SQUADRON"?? ITS REALLY A CRAPPY, LOW BUDGET MOVIE, WITH A PRETTY GOOD CAST, STARRING CLIFF ROBERTSON, AND IT HAS SOME OF THE WORST SPECIAL EFFECTS SINCE GODZILLA ATE TOKYO, BUT ITS GOT A GREAT MUSICAL SCORE, SOME GREAT SHOTS OF REAL MOSQUITO'S, AND WALLY FROM CROCODILE DUNDEE IN A SMALL PART!! IF I HAD THE ABILITY TO MAKE A MOSQUITO VIDEO, I THINK I WOULD HAVE USED SOME ACTUAL CLIPS OF REAL MOSQUITO'S, INCLUDING THOSE GREAT, TWINN-MERLIN ENGINE SOUNDS FROM THAT MOVIE!! I MEAN, WHY NOT?L APPARENTLY SOMEBODY USED A LOT OF CLIPS FROM THAT MOVIE WHEN THEY FILMED THE 1969 MOVIE, " MOSQUITO SQUADRON " WITH DAVID McCALLUM!! SO PLEASE, KEEP TRYING TO MAKE THOSE VIDS!! THEY'RE ENTERTAINING, AND EDUCATIONAL!! CHAS ORVIS, PLAINVILLE, CT.
