- This is a live acoustic performance of an old song I've never recorded or released, set to some behind the scenes footage of my video shoot for "What Did You Drag Me Into?" taken by Logan Martin.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
So many people have believed in me over the years. Even in the moments that I look back on as some of my hardest - the times when I was flailing, adrift, and lost - I can recall the people who were there championing me and cheering me on. When I felt extinguished, they saw a spark. When I was doubting myself, they kept faith.
There were times when, if there was any shimmer left, it was only there because they were shining for me, shining into me. I wrote this song so long ago I can't quite remember when.. circa 2008 or 2009. It was a really tough time. Faith and friendships were unraveling, along with my sense of identity. I was only just beginning to understand how I'd been betrayed by my own beliefs, how I traded all of my labor for safety and belonging and ended up with neither.
My friend Sabrina was there, and she refused to let me drift alone. Her insistence that I mattered was the thing that pulled me through. I wrote this with her in mind.
And I dug it up and dusted it off today, some 15 years later, with you in mind. I know our journeys can take unexpected turns that leave us feeling burnt out... extinguished. If you're feeling that way, I hope this 15-year-old song written by a boy who felt like he had no identity will lift you up.
That boy became a queen, after all.

OK, I just saw Flamy perform in Charleston and she talked with me for ten minutes. I was obsessed before, but in person, she shines like a diamond. She is truly a miracle. What a voice. Expect big things from this beautiful soul. She is a miracle and a true inspiration. Try to see her as she travels the country. You will thank yourself.
