This was a nice comparison test. Pointed out the pros and cons of both vehicles. A lot of people hate on the CVT, but I have had 2 Nissan vehicles with the CVT and I really like the smoothness and gas mileage of the CVT. On the highway in my 2018 Murano with a 3.5L V-6 I get in excess of 33 mpg. My wife wants a Rogue, and I'll probably buying one.
Great Video @Robert !! keep it up. My parents just bought the Rouge and I was pushing them to get the Rav. They love the Rouge and that's all that matters
RAV4 has a lot of road noise. Doors sound cheap when you close them. But it is popular. And some safety items are better than Nissan. But I’d buy the Rogue. Handles better, drives better.
Branz Factor if you live anywhere in the Maritimes in Canada, I invite you to come into O’Regan’s Nissan in Dartmouth and I can help you pick the one that’s right for you
Roommate has the 2011 Rogue with the CVT. No issues, he has only done oil changes only, not full service. Was great on move from Calif to Missouri. Has only replaced tires.
Good video over all. But you missed the part that Rav 4 rear view mirror can turn to a digital LCD display, by flicking the middle control, which rogue don't have. You also missed that on the back seat passengers have access to 2 extra USB charging port, which rogue don't have.
You did a very good and fair job. I enjoy watching your videos especially the ones where you show how to work all the displays and the infotainment. My wife and I have been wanting the Rogue for a while but we keep putting it off. We're hoping when the new Rogues come out, the 2020s will be offered with some big discounts. I wish you worked at a dealership in California.
Robert Shaw thank you very much for your kind remarks. I would have enjoyed working with you and your family if we were closer. I’m sure when the time is right you’ll get a great deal on a great Rogue.
The RAV4 has lane keep assist when the dynamic cruise control is on, which helps keep the vehicle centered. I can take my hands off the wheel and my RAV4 can stay centered on curves as well as straightaways. It also gives a warning to put hands back onto the wheel.
Nice review...very objective and informative. I have an almost identical Rogue SL AWD except it's a 2019. It's even the same pearl white color except with black leather interior. I would add a few comments about the Nissan Rogue for clarity and additional insight. 1. The back seats also slide forward and back. I didn't see you point this out, and it could be an important feature for some potential buyers/owners, especially those who need more legroom in the 2nd row. 2. The panoramic sunroof also has a fully automatic shade (like all others I presume), unlike the Rav4's manual shade. 3. The small storage cubby under the center stack is too small for pretty much any modern cell phone, which is too bad considering it's in the perfect spot for your phone to lay while it charges and/or streams Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Not a big deal for some but wanted to point it out. I'm a big guy (6'2", 280#) and I'm pretty comfortable in the front seat. One of the main things for me was having room for my right knee/leg not to be forced too far to the left...I need room for it to be able to hang to the right or at least not be pushed in to the left. The Rogue was good for me in this area. Overall my wife and I are very happy with the Rogue. It's her daily driver and she loves it...and I also enjoy driving it on the rare occasion I need to. It's still very tight, solid, quiet, no loose pieces, squeaks or rattles, and feels refined and technologically advanced for a small SUV. We love the ride and the large interior for the class. We didn't need one for performance so the CVT was not a concern for us. Just passed 8k miles and 9 months of ownership. Just my $.02. Keep up the good work!
I am going from a 2017 Rogue SL black into a 2020 Rogue SL white starting tomorrow, same as yours, but my interior will be almond color. Love the Rogue even if it doesn't have all the latest convenience features like USB ports in the back and ventilated seats in the front. Rogue has less performance power, but like you, that doesn't matter too much to me. Its existing power train is good enough for me. Rogue styling is really nice too, a beautiful looking SUV with lots of comfort inside and a great Bose sound system.
Very nice review & comparison. I really appreciated the leg room, getting in & out of the passenger side & knowing you are 6'3. I am only 5'1 but have taller friends & dont need to hesitate on driving them & their comfort. 👍 I have access to a 2011 Rogue, love it & was curious how it compared. Thank You!
@@RobertTigheCars I just got me a Nissan Rogue 2020 and lots of people are telling me why in bought a Nissan and not a Toyota or Honda since nissan have a CVT and it’s a headache with the transmission . Ugh
Isn't the front row seats in the Rogue a lot more comfortable? That was what I noticed - I heard that an amazingly comfy seat was something that Nissan sought out.
As a Rogue dude for the last 3 years and going into another one tomorrow, I can tell you indeed the seats are some of the most comfortable I have ever experienced. I used to drive Ravs before.
ADNAN AKRAM I work for O’Regan’s out of our Nissan Store. We also have a Toyota store so I am able to sell a brand new RAV4 as well...and have. The brand doesn’t mean anything to me when to comes to doing a review. I can sell a new Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, VW, Subaru or GM/Chev. I did this review because they are direct competition and I was tired of all of the biased reviews.
My wife has one. Very comfortable ride and accelerates fast when need be. The only thing I don't like is the smaller windshield. It feels weird at first but you get used to it (just like everything else in life).
I work out of a Nissan store, under O’Regan’s Automotive Group who also have a Toyota store. I am able to, and have, sold Toyota’s over the last 4 years with the company. As well as Hyundai, VW, Kia, Subaru and GMC/Chevrolet. I do truly appreciate the feedback. I have not, to this point, ventured into comparing other models, but I will be soon. Thanks for following!
Official Jonathan personally, and I am a little biased as I work for Nissan, but I think the Rogue is a better buy. I would invite you to check them both out for yourself. It’s the best way to find the one that’s right for you. I should mention that the company I work for, O’Regan’s, gives me the ability to sell either as they have both the Nissan and Toyota brands. So when I deal with a customer, I go to the one they want, not the one I want.
We traded our 2014 Rav4 for a 2017 Murano. The Rav was very noisy and uncomfortable, especially the seats. After driving 2 hours I would have to stop and walk around. ON the Nissan I can drive until I have to stop without any issues. Both vehicles have been bullet proof. I would never own another Rav4 but that is just me, they are very popular. I know I am not comparing to the Rogue just giving you my opinion on the Rav4. Cheers
