But my soul must be iron. 'Cause my fear is naked. I'm naked and fearless. And my fear is nakeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed
also, one thing i have learned from recording in studios with engineers behind the board, is most people mix the drums way too dry. not enough reverb. thats what gives you the nice full and thick sound. if you heard the way these drums sound without the music behind it, you would think it sounded ridiculous, like a 1980's kit from like a poison song or something. but once the music and voicals are over it, it just sounds HUGE
Dude! Right on! So impressed - not a sour note. I only watched because I thought the Rolands would be a joke to a Tool song. You made it all sound excellent. Not easy playing note-for-note with Danny Carey. So good!
fuck that flam is so ridiculous, I thought it was there but it took me 10 tries to make sure it wasnt the bass guitar ahah, fuuuck now I gotta add that in to make sure its complete. Solid cover dude! 5 thumbs up
Electric kits are sweet too. You can make them sound like anything perfectly, no tuning heads etc. You are better than me dude and I think I'm pretty sweet. Give lessons to kids who have rhythm !!!!
it took me forever to figure out how to get that tone is SD, i have never mixed drum tracks in my life, i just read a lot on compression and EQ and use of reverbs and buses and stuff. FINALLY got it like i wanted it, haha - lots of headaches though dude
Real nice man. Looks like you have this song dialed in. Good mix as well. You've got good control on your double bass drumming. That's a real challenge for me. Keep on posting.
@jafrocubic2 -- wow thank youi very much, and no its not easy, haha, these songs kick my butt half the time!! but i appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment, thanks duuuuude!
@wardaddy99 -- im so use to leaving caps lock on all the time, i draft commercial coctracts for clients for a living, and anytime we place individual notes (like special terms and conditions) into a contract, we use caps lock, to differentiate from the "fine print", haha ive gotten so used to just leaving it on all the time -- thanks for watching!
Sweet well you did a good job then, it's not easy on an electric kit running software due to latency, triggers not always triggering etc, you should figure out how to quantize your drumming when you finished and it will be perfect, I use bfd2 and there are many different settings, humanization, velocity etc etc so you can edit exactly how you want, I have a similar setup but with a 9 piece xmdrum kit with Roland td-12 module running bfd2, good to see someone else doing similar set up, cheers
@MrCrgl -- its a mixture of both, but if you listen to the original track and mine side by side, and kinda pause and compare back and forth, you can definitely hear the difference. my drum sound has a lot less high shimmery end on it, and the kick is a bit punchier, and toms are much more direct and boomy with a short suatain - but thanks for watching bro!
WATCH THIS VIDEO IN 720p FOR BEST RESULTS - ESPECIALLY IN HEARING THE SOUND QUALITY - THIS VIDEO WAS BOUNCED OUT OF MY MACHINE IN 720p FORMAT, SO WATCH IT THAT WAY FOR BEST RESULTS - THANKS!
Haha that's awesome, very informative I suppose x) Would you care to put up a sample of just the drums for reference? Also do you run into latency issues trying to run the compressors and EQ while you play in real time?
@MrCrgl -- i try to use a little compression, and some EQ, but honestly, i have never mixed a track in my life, haha, im new to ALL of this :) - the only tracks ive ever mixed, is the stuff on my channel, haha
@thelema3131 -- i use the TD 12 brain, and the TMC6 for 6 more triggers. outside of that the only roland part is the cymbals. all the pads are HART DYNAMICS. i like the way they feel a lot better, much more realistic. i will tell yuo, it was definitely interesting setting all this shit up for sure. haha, thanks for checkin it out!
Amazing job. Great sounding kit by the way! Wanted to ask do you ever record drum tracks this way for songs? If you do how do you get the notes to record as well as your playing? Mine seem to get jumbled no matter what I do on acid pro and now sonar. I use either toontrack vsti's or addictive drums but rather use toontracks so I can use the snare without the wires
@PiratesofHelmond -- thanks bro, i reccomend the roland brain unit, with HART DYNAMICS for the pads, Roland for the cymbals, hart dynamics makes the best pads i have found out there, extrememly realistic. check out RMCAUDIO.com for the best rates out there for Roland, Hart Dynamics, etc. shit, i havent found a single company that beats their rates out there for anything, haha - thanks for the feedback!
@Deundertow --- thank you very much, and yeah i dig the ASPCA, haha, my fiance and I love animals, and donate monthly to them to help with adoption and rescue efforts
@Drumaddict63 -- thanks dude, i have real problems with controlling the double kick as well to be honest with you, it takes a LOT of practice in these double kick intensive tunes, check out the cover of "hooker with a penis", that song had some pretty ridiculous double kick in it that took me FOREVER to get down, and its still not even close to perfect on here!
@MasterKeith123 --- thank you dude, i appreciate it, song was tough bro, haha, right now im working on 4 degrees, more relaxed drumming, but very technical in that song, from the undertow record as well -- ill tell ya, the hardest one ive learned so far was hooker with a penis - cover on my channel
actually neither - i dont know enough about pro tools to do all that - its my tiggers going into superior drummer 2.0 - check out some of the raw vids that are straight stereo into a camera - hooker with a penis - intolerance - prison sex - dr feelgood, etc -
MY FEAR IS NAKEEEEEEEEEEEEED!
But my soul must be iron.
'Cause my fear is naked.
I'm naked and fearless.
And my fear is nakeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed
That kick sound is fucking awesome. This sounds like a remastered version of the song. Great job.
One of the best Tool covers on the webs.

That's awesome. You nailed that and your drums sound nasty!
you killed it bro. very impressive!!
Dude! Right on! So impressed - not a sour note. I only watched because I thought the Rolands would be a joke to a Tool song. You made it all sound excellent. Not easy playing note-for-note with Danny Carey. So good!
I am in complete and total awe of the tone you got going here xD Unreal..
fuck that flam is so ridiculous, I thought it was there but it took me 10 tries to make sure it wasnt the bass guitar ahah, fuuuck now I gotta add that in to make sure its complete. Solid cover dude! 5 thumbs up
Damn. Really good job man
Good job, friend! Love this song. Thank you!
I'm in heaven...
Electric kits are sweet too. You can make them sound like anything perfectly, no tuning heads etc. You are better than me dude and I think I'm pretty sweet. Give lessons to kids who have rhythm !!!!

Paul D'Amour was the bassist when they recorded this
in fact, lol, you can hear a LOT of parts in this where i am off, was a hard song to learn bro
@LaChakalandria -- thanks dude, i dig the aspca, haha, so i figured id show my support in the video
that rules! thanks dude i appreciate the kind words
@emissionNebulae -- thank you i appreciate that!
I like the sound of the kit...standard Avatar pack? Also if possible can you provide the preset?

Thumbs up if you want to see him cover Ticks and Leeches!
A we Some
Dude you got it for sure. Just need different angles and real drums
While this chubby McLovin is killing it at drums, I barely managed to learn what's a polyrhythm thanks to Vaas from Far Cry 3.
Sounds and looks like a whole lot of quantizing and editing happened after you made the vid
nah man. from the get go, you're not playing the hit hat line. Nice drums though
@iWentToNam ---, such negativity - i feel sorry for you, just jam to good tunes and be quiet
actually neither - i dont know enough about pro tools to do all that - its my tiggers going into superior drummer 2.0 - check out some of the raw vids that are straight stereo into a camera - hooker with a penis - intolerance - prison sex - dr feelgood, etc -
ew is that an electric kit? cant stand them, but good cover anyways
