My Chihuahua have allergies. Try to take her to the vet. But the vet was close. Went to Kroger and pick up a bottle of Zyrtec. Since she's around 13lbs. I gave her 1 tablet. You have to wrap it up with meat or cheese. Recommend dosage. 1 tablet for dogs weighting 10 to 25 lbs. If your dog weight more 2 tablet. It works in minutes. She's scratching less.

Outstanding recommendations. When at the Vet’s, PLEASE ask, encourage and be persistent, when asking for skin scrapings, inter-pad (between pads on feet) and ear smears be done. So many fungal disorders are missed and treated inappropriately. Too many times Vets don’t perform the “easy in office tests" which are done right under a microscope. If dog owners don’t mind spending a bit more (not that much) if it helps, it’s worth having your dog’s blood work done too, even as a baseline. Complelte Blood Count-“ CBC", including a Sedimentation Rate & Platelet count done. . Sometimes conditions, refractory to the most common treatments, these blood work can show autoimmune disorders which are treated more aggressively. Also an ANA (Anti-Nuclear Antibody) study can show more specificity with suspected immune complex disorders. After 40 years of comparing human & canine medicine, it still amazes me how similar canine and human “allergic disorders” are.
Bravo for the skin scraping recommendations again. While many Vets & dog owners are still on the fence about a newer durg: iApoquel( Occlacitinib manufactured )by Zoestis,it is routinely being prescribed for refractory allergic disorders.. It’s been on the market and approved by the FDA for canines use,for a comparatively short time +/- 7 years now. And, .the long-term side effects are not well documented. But in so many dogs’ allergic conditions, Apoquel, seems to be fast-acting God-send. When compared to treatment with Corticosteroids.and other drugs with definite serious side effects, Apoquel does seems to give fast relief. This drug has a special antigen inhibitor effect, which means it acts upon the immune system in a very differnt way than other more potent drugs. Having said that, Apoquel could very well have side effects in some dogs that are quite scary; we just don’t know yet. Having read the literature and many dog owners’ blogs, comments after Apoquel use, over the past 3 years, there are reports of unusual skin afflictions, some respiratory symptoms of unknown ethology, which are not well understood. There are also some who report Apoquel may only be effective for up to two years. These have not been published in the scientific literature but dog owners were half of the group who were used to report the efficacy of Apoquel in the final FDA approval studies…so what’s the difference? At the end of the day, in hot Summer particularly, a dog suffering with dermatitis, with constant itching, alleged ear infections (with no clear evidence of microbes as a cause, and a general living a miserable life, it’s liley worth a try.

This really matches up to my 1 yr old female boxer
She’s suffering terribly with itch & skin trouble, ears are ok but eyes mucky, 3 different vets, now on Royal Canin ultamino, I’m not comfortable giving her Atopica, no mites found, possibly yeast issues? Yes, she’s bathed with vet prescribed shampoo, she’s had spectrum testing, but got so much worse when given desensitize drops :(. She’s a desperate girl

We do not have the money to bring our pets to the vets very much so we only do until we see something strange. We took my dog to the vet when we noticed her itching more than normal. (She itches a lot all the time) The vet diagnosed it as allergy dermatitis. She also had fleas. We couldn't see them because she had really thick fur(She is a Husky-Australian Shepard mix) We shaved her fur off and gave her a few baths but she has so many scratches and sores and scabs we don't know how to heal. She scratches them off before they are able to heal because they irritate her so much but that just leaves it bleeding and shes in a lot of pain. We can't afford another trip to the vet. I haven't seen any fleas on her but the scabs are really bad. Mostly on her backside, tail, sides, and legs. A few on her stomach, head, and back but not many. Do you know anything that we could do to make her stop scratching the scabs, or make them go away quicker?

Big dislike. I already KNOW my dog has allergies ok. I've had the test ran. I've spent the hundreds of dollars big guy.
This video didn't give me one single answer about helping a dog with allergies without using Apoquel. Clickbait.

Same here. My dalmatian dog was diagnosed with allergies at 6 months of age, so it does happen this young. He was very itchy, had severe ear infections and licked his paws and butt a lot. We did a blood test and found out what things he was allergic to. Now he is using Apoquel to suppress the itching. Our vet also has a dalmation with allergies. This dog is getting Cytopoint shots instead. About the video: He didn’t answer the question but just doubted that the dog was allergic. His advice was bad and not helpful at all.

Digestive enzymes and supplements for leaky gut cured my dog in three days. Diet is usually the biggest culprit. I had two dogs that had to stay away from chicken.

@@nataliajimenez3468 Remove anything with chicken and fish to see if that's what is causing the allergy and then I use probiotics and nutrigest for a healthy gut which causes the allergy. I use Fromm's lamb and lentil with no allergic reaction. Have to find they are allergic to. Apoquel causes cancer don't use it.
