I sat and watched this as the tears silently fell...one of my last memories of my Dad was a Cessna ride I had with him out of Brainard Airport in Hartford, CT., my first ride in an aircraft. He disappeared November of 1970; his vehicle found on a bridge over the CT river. His body was found washed ashore on a tiny island near Martha's Vineyard February of 1971, 140 or so miles from where the car was found. I have been investigating it for many years, and have realized that my mother has lied all these years about it being a suicide. Murder destroys much more than just the victim's body I have learned in my life. The most touching video I have watched in a long time.
Pete catches on quick. He was using his finger tips on the stick, no feet on the stick, and remembered to verbally pass control back when you forgot. Impressive. My dad taught me his vocation too, starting when I was old enough to hang on, about the same age as Pete. I would often go to work with my dad rather than go to school (now days you couldn't get away with that because they are more worried about getting "paid" for children to "be at school" than they are about children learning.) My dad taught me how to run a business, keep the books, place your orders so you had enough but not too much, truck maintenance, and how to treat customers, and people in general. He was a milkman, and so was I.
Your comment is typical of someone who often skipped school or didn't finish because it may have been boring or too difficult to comprehend. To say teachers are only in it for the money is absurd. Today, class rooms are totally different in the way student are taught. It is no longer the norm for students to sit in their chairs and be quiet and not participate in conversation among their peers. Great stepps have been made to better educate our students along with teachers and staff. I'm not saying that children should not go to work with their parents, but getting an education should be the focal point in their up bring.
IdahoRodgers USMC, The pendulum is swinging the other way. Public schools are now implementing (CTE) Career Technical Education that covers a variety of jobs not only in high tech placement, but in construction, food services, and warehouse production. School boards across the nation focus on attendance because money does come into school districts, but board members don't get any of that money. The're focus is to keep students in school to complete their education to make them more likely to succeed in life. The opportunity for today's students is far more reaching than It was years ago. Thank you for your service.
We can only hope the future for all our kids will get better. My wife has been a school board member/teacher for over 27 years and has dedicated her time and service to make all student achieve and be successful. Good evening to you as well.
20:05 "You have the aircraft" long after you took control. lol Pete is awesome - and when he is tall enough to see where he's going he'll be even better.
I worked with a pilot friend who showed me his maps, but now I understand Class B Airspace because of your patient teaching Juan. You flew over my Uncle's place in Vacaville!
I remember so well, my dad and myself flying together in the less crowded skies. Flying from Indy to Chicago to catch a cubs or whitesox game, landing at Miegs field. Flying to see relatives in Illinois, and missouri, and at times landing at their farms! He used to scare the hell out of me with dead stick landings. My dad was a cook in the Submarines in WW2, He was an instructor at the cook and baker's school at Great Lakes, in the Korean war. Promoted a few times, he became a non com there. Since the Naval Air station was there, he took advantage of his "pull" being in charge of the Officer's mess, and took flying lessons. I still have his original log books. He flew his own planes from around 1954 to 1975. He loved flying. Wondered why I never got my license....I reminded him at 16-17 or so, my main interests were Cars, rock and roll, and girls. Missed my chance at free training!
I am living my life vicariously thru your videos! I've got about 1300 hours with an instrument rating, my commercial ticket and hi performance write off. I gave up my first love 26 years ago so we could have a family and my wife could stay home with our children. I don't regret it for a minute but still wish I'd had the money to teach my son. I always wanted to. Love your videos!
Great video Juan and Pete! The love for each other is evident in this one and every video you do with the kids. Don't forget to start his logbook! Happy New Year!
Another heartwarming video. Pete's unprompted "You have the aircraft" made me smile. You are definitely sowing seeds of success in that young lad. Well done!
Very nice reminds me of my Dad as well letting (teaching) me to fly at age 5 to 8 year old.. in our Piper clipper out of a grass field.. this was back in 1964 !!! so much fun... Bet Peat has a lot to tell his school mates just like I did back in the day.. as most did not believe me etc. nor did some of my teachers etc. until they talked to my Mom and Dad and they set em straight, and yes my Dad was a pilot and I did fly etc... Nice, Brian F. AKA Gusmix on hear
Pete is An intelligent young lad. What a tender learning experience. Pilot to co-pilot - 300 feet! I think Dad is anxious for Pete to be able to solo if need be. Your music choices accentuate these precious times. Thank you for sharing.
Happy new year to you and yours Mr. Brown. You did an awesome video or two of father and son, but I think it's time for an awesome video or two of father and daughter. Safe flying, Mr. Brown.
Very sweet videos. I hope you can get Pete a cushion or booster seat so he can see. Seeing the nose in relation to the horizon would help me understand controlling the stick. Happy New Year Browne family.
It brings tears to my eyes watching you two interact, Pete one day realize what a opportunity he had having a father that did things like you do, I wish I had a father like you Juan growing up, he is one lucky little man !!! Juan Doesn't your wife ever go flying with you??
Absolutely love that you share and your time with Pete. I like Coppertropical I wish I was flying too... Thanks for sharing the ARSA and knowledge, keep it up. Upside down wedding cake....
Your Flying with Pete videos bring back a lot of great memories. I was10 years old when my dad traded in the Luscombe for a Piper Tri Pacer but I learned to fly the same way you are teaching Pete. Dad kept the co-pilot stick behind the seat and would plug it in when it was my turn to fly. I'm amazed at Pete's gentle touch on the controls for his age. He's gonna be a great pilot someday because of the experiences you are giving him now. Keep up the good work.
Wow didn't know you frequent San Carlos. I work in the office buildings at the south end of airport runway and watch the planes take off and land all day out my 3rd story window.
My wife and I enjoy your videos very much. Especially the ones with Pete. I wish I could get lessons from you . Your explanation of class B airspace was excellent. Keep posting.
Very useful info Juan... the whole business of airspace is quite a minefield! Just love these flights with Pete - as I have said before, he will remember these times later in life. Another super video.
A funny age, 6 years old. Pete is smart and entertaining, singing the lyrics of Rockin' around the Christmas Tree, flying an aeroplane and then suddenly a little bit of tiredness creeps in at the end of the flight and he becomes a normal 6-year old. Magic. Enjoyed the Gordon Lightfoot reference at the start of the flight. Thanks once again Juan.
Sweet voices! Juan & Pete, such an awesome team you both make 😍😍. Great explanation about "Class B" airspace! Makes more sense now. Heartwarming interaction between father and son with soothing background music and neat vista view shots... such a nice way to close out my evening... thank you both👍😎
Thanks for putting me in the back seat with the flight. I took ground school in San Jose and never did fly as it dropped down my priority list. That airspace was a big nightmare. The military no fly zones were there also. Great to see Pete as copilot. He is getting alot better at observation just on a few flights. That demonitization is something I wish they would stop as it is so little that they give out.
Even the 'Mighty Luscombe' needs a highly competent navigator. Top job PNF Pete. Thanks for posting, Juan, & absolutely fascinating for a very keen, but non-flying type like me (who can while away hours tuned into Air VHF). Audio of radio/intercom was very quiet on my iPad. Don't know if just an issue on my UA-cam/iPad setup, but if there is any way to raise audio level on your next air exploits with 'Captain Pete', would be really great? Pete is teaching you very well, Juan, and your airmanship and flying skills seem to be coming along just great! So keep paying attention to your Class One Instructor, eh! 😜 lol As ever, so much appreciate your consumate, professional postings in all that you bring us. And hope that you and all the family had a spectacularly good holiday season, and wish you all a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2018. 🛩🌞👍👍
Your flying videos are always so relaxing, everytime I get a notification I get myself a coffee, sit down in front of my laptop and relax a while :) thanks for that Juan!
Juan, how lovely, memories are made of these. Way in the future you can go back over these videos and it will warm your hearts. Beautiful. May I wish you and all yours a happy and healthy 2018.
Great video. Reminds me of time with my son in our J3 Cub although no electrics and no controlled airspace. Just nice days cruising around with the door open. Great fun!
Juan Pete is awesome....man if I lived out there near you & master Pete id hire you & Mr Pete to be my flight instructors...hes gonna be a hell of a piot some day soon...good job giving Pete flying lessons...your an awesome flight instructor..
I remember the Bridge departure out of San Carlos well.. I have flown that route many times flying up to Reno. Another great video, love the family videos. I had a friend that flew an old Citrabrea (sp) and he had a sticker on the dash that said "Please remove Spurs before entering aircraft" LOL Am looking forward to next video.
Thanks for the video just reminds me of when I was leaning to fly . I was with you all the way so much going on and you managed to listen to Pete as well so good. From uk
Pete is a quick learner Juan. I thought he did great. He remembered the song lyrics better than me. LOL Thanks you so much for sharing this with us your are blessed to have such a fine son, daughter and wife. God Bless you all and have a great and prosperous 2018!!!
Great job again. Thanks for taking us along...You know of course why Pete turned into Mr. "No" man at the end don't you. Cause you weren't going to let him go with you tomorrow...Bummer...just lost his best Christmas present...I bet he forgives you next time you go up. Great job...thanks again.
Hey Juan you pointed out a 787 Dreamliner to Pete, well all goes to plan and Pete follows you as an airline pilot, the 787 would equal a DC3 model with the rate of aircraft development .......wow Pete's future looks adventurous..Go Pete Go!......ps. Love the mighty Luscombe and that nice speed on a nice day. Pete need an extra cushion for the moment Juan.
BEAUTIFUL VIDEO JUAN, Such a nice calming landing and taxi, after ALL THAT WILD airspace around the BAY! Love those stills and reminisce. Learned more of (class B) that first 3 minutes than ever could find in a book. HAPPY NEW YEAR !

I about lost it when you got the call for traffic headed towards diablo and you took the stick. And about a minute later Pete says you have the aircraft!
Thanks for sharing Juan ! Most of line pilots I know never look outside - cause they might see something scaring them ! ( Seriously, you know far better than me how limited the vision is out of modern transport jets and how difficult it is to see light aircraft, let alone determine their course/speed due to the speed differentials ! ) Y'all stay out of "Indian Country" and I'll stay out of "big iron" airspace and we'll get along just fine !
Juan, watch out when he can reach the peddles.. LOL. Lots of pride in your voice and love in your eyes. Keep it up.
"You have the aircraft" at 20:03 is priceless! Thanks for sharing the flight!
The reason why a man lives is in this video...thanks juan.
Time shared between a Father and Son is a good thing. Thanks for sharing.

Juan you make it all look and sound sooo easy!!! Buy I know it's not! Great video and wonderful memories for you both!
BEAUTIFUL VIDEO JUAN,
Such a nice calming landing and taxi, after ALL THAT WILD airspace around the BAY! Love those stills and reminisce. Learned more of (class B) that first 3 minutes than ever could find in a book.
HAPPY NEW YEAR !
Beyond cool. Pete, you're an ace, yah Dad too.
Been up tonight watching your videos, wonderful. I' an 'ole F-4 Phantom crew chief, USAF Vet. Good entertainment Juan.

Thanks for the flight. Pete's getting big.
You have the aircraft. Priceless.
no.... no... rePete. Man, that brings back memories of sleepy kids. I think I learned something too. "inverted wedding cake" explained a ton of questions for me.
"nothing you ever do for a child is wasted , nor in vain!!! This young man is very fortunate .
Great video great to see the fun you have with wee Pete. And he sang that song great.
'Gear down?" "Gear down." One minute later: "The gear on this plane is always down." [He's observant and thinking.]
Pete is already learning the basics and does a good job controlling the pitch and bank. Amazing at age 3.
Funny stuff, thank you for sharing a look into where most of us would never see!
I wonder if the aviator call sign Ka-Blam-O has been assigned yet... Great, fun, informative video, thanks!
Sky King good idea! “ Captain Ka-Blammo”...lol
The old shipwreck is a WW1 4 stack destroyer...or what 's left of it anyway. We have been out there in the Boston Whaler exploring it but there isn't much left . In my time at the FAA I don't recall ever working a Luscomb through the Bravo airspace. How rare are they? Back when I worked at SFOT we almost always let transitions through!
Enjoyed the flight. Thanks for sharing.
Pete sure seems to be developing a "feel" for flying ! I like his developing stick technique ! Too many I've flown with seem to think they have to strangle the thing ! I also notice his developing situation awareness vis a vis the aircraft !
Making Memories, priceless...
Yes! This is another great vlog. Thank you for sharing your life. I share this with everyone.

Frank Lyons Yes! I
Yeah, whatever you do, don't go Ka-blam-o. Good advise from lil Pete. Ha ha.
These are the times, what lucky guys you are!
Thanks for sharing Juan ! Most of line pilots I know never look outside - cause they might see something scaring them !
