    Lots of people keep referring to a reset in college athletics. The reset will separate a tier 1 from tier 2. I agree the rush to add G5 schools in the B12, and soon ACC and PAC is a desperate survival move but the idea is to discriminate between haves and have nots. the more G5s they elevate. The harder it will be to argue your conference really is a power conference.

    The gap between the P2 and everyone else is going to be a chasm a mile deep in 2-3 years. Neither the ACC nor Mid 12 are a power conference. They are just Triple A teams and feeder programs for players and coaches.

    The divide is between the P2 and everyone else.
    The financial gap between between the P2 and middle 2 is greater than the financial gap between the middle 2 and the G5

    • @earlygenesistherevealedcos1982
      @earlygenesistherevealedcos1982 3 дні тому +1

      It really isn't. The ACC paid about 8 million a team. The Big 12 paid four times that.

    • @tremoore61
      @tremoore61 3 дні тому +2

      @@earlygenesistherevealedcos1982I'm sure you mean the AAC. The math still doesn't agree with you. $8M times 4 is $32M. The difference between those numbers is $24M. 24M + 32M = 56M, 56M is about what the SEC distributes now before the increase. Meaning, they're closer to the G5 than the P2. The math agrees with the original comment. Those aren't the exact numbers, but the end results gap is still large enough to be correct.

    • @Meme-ir7ht
      @Meme-ir7ht 3 дні тому

      @@tremoore61 I think the original commenter is still very wrong though. From what I can find from quick google searches:
      SEC payout per team: ~51M
      B1G payout per team: ~60M
      ACC payout per team: ~40M
      XII payout per team: ~40M
      Note that these numbers are only for full-share members, e.g. XII only paid BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF 18M bc they are new to the conference.
      Now for G5:
      AAC payout per team: ~8M
      MWC payout per team: ~4M
      Too lazy to find out the rest, but AAC is the highest out of all them anyway.
      These are just payouts from conference to teams. It clearly shows that there is a gap between SEC/B1G and ACC/XII, however that gap is significantly smaller than the gap between ACC/XII and the AAC, which is the G5 conference with the highest payouts.
      I think this is important context for people who feel like the “lesser” half of the ACC should just roll over and get relegated to the G5 while the cream of the crop move over to the P2. I think the best solution for everybody is one in which the P4 stands, but of course this is starting to seem unrealistic. XII is getting diluted and ACC is riddled with infighting that is mostly caused by their failure to secure a forward-thinking media rights deal.

    • @earlygenesistherevealedcos1982
      @earlygenesistherevealedcos1982 3 дні тому

      @@tremoore61 I did mean AAC but still think I am right about the math because I was speaking in terms of proportion. 32 million is more than half of 56 million. So SEC advantage over Big 12 is less than 2-1. Big 12 advantage over AAC is 4 to one. 32/8.

    • @tremoore61
      @tremoore61 2 дні тому +2

      @earlygenesistherevealedcos1982 The original comment said, "The gap between the P2 and the middle 2 is greater than the financial gap between the middle 2 and the G5." And you replied, "it really isn't." So, in your example it's 8M vs 32M. The difference between the two is 24M. The P2 will be around 70M, I used 56M as an example of what one league already pays out. So the gap between 32M vs 70M, is 38M. That means the gap IS greater between the two (38>24).
      Now you flip it to mean in terms of proportion? Nobody said that. How does having a higher proportion help your argument in terms of financials? Unless whomever you're referring to has a better ratio between operating cost and conference distribution.

I think the Big12 panicked and added lesser schools when they should have been more patient to see how things were gonna play out. Now the Big12 is just too watered down with few marquee programs left and a lot of mouths to feed. And realignment is not done yet either. KU will likely be part of the next round of schools added by the SEC or the B1G, but then again, the ACC has yet to be picked over.
