Same, im kid basically, Soundgarden, Korn, slipknot and system of a down, all thanks to my mom, and i really cant describe how much this songs helped me on my darkest times like they helped my mother once
I think “The Day I Tried To Live” is the soundgarden mood you are looking for. I could be wrong. If you’re in more of an angry place, try their later song “Blow Up The Outside World.” Love.
They were around since 84 or so. Chris started on drums and they were nominated for a Grammy in the late 80's. They were around before most GRUNGE bands
I was just a little girl the first time I heard SoundGarden from the Black Hole Sun music video and it stopped me in my tracks. Chris Cornell, even in death remains my all time favorite vocalist, whether it's in SoundGarden, AudioSlave or his solo work. His voice consistently gives me goosebumps and no one else does that to me. If you're in the mood to "feel" the grief you're in and then find the strength to want to push forward, might I recommend AudioSlave's I Am The Highway? If I am down it lets me feel where I am at and then gives me the push to keep going. Just because now I am on the Chris Cornell kick. Love your reactions. Tell Charlie we're all rooting for him.
Soundgarden helped me feel like I wasn't alone in the 90s. I felt rage, calm and like I could have wrote the lyrics myself they resonated so much. Good lyricists write songs that can appeal to whatever you are going through and be about whatever you want them to. The name Tool comes from Maynard saying the band are a crutch and they want to be our tool to help us get through this life in whatever way we need them too. My help came from Soundgarden - blow up the outside world. Tool- the grudge and Chris Cornell- end of the world. Chin up boys, we are all with you ❤️
Appreciate the honest take! I think for me, to find what you’re looking for, sometimes its finding a voice that resonates with you. It’s not even always about the lyrics, its about the tone and the vibe the song gives off.
A PERFECT CIRCLE - OUTSIDER, even if It has nothing to do with the situation you are going through right now, this song helped me a lot to get through certain situations and keep the will to overcome certain situations!
The fantastic thing about the grunge era for me, each of the great bands brought something quite different to the party, despite being lumped in together. Pretty much all had amazing singers, though quite different in their own rights. Soundgarden? A pinch of Sabbath, with Robert Plant vocals and wild guitar solos. Pearl Jam? Classic American rock, Hendrix style solos. Nirvana? Punk energy, often monster drums. Smashing Pumpkins? Queen bombasity mixed with elements of prog rock. Everyone had their favourites, but you could all enjoy the others too. Not like the "Disco Sucks" or "Rap is Crap" generations, we were all in it together. We inhaled everything good no matter where it came from.
"Spoonman' by Soundgarden. Its such a banger of a song and has some of Matt Cameron's best drumming. Its a must if you're trying to get into Soundgarden 👌
Yeah, kinda agree. This was a nice alt version if you already know SG. But the studio version had a crisper feel, and, dare I say, more emotion from Chris.
Thanks for bringing us with on this one. Appreciate the emotion that music can satisfy as much as the wow factor of a "typical" reaction. Korn-Thoughtless. Not necessarily relevant to every emotion but that song, and album as a whole got me through some dark times in HS. Hope you find that cup of hot tea. Cheers
So many of my idols are dead now, not tragically, just ODing or suiciding - Chris Cornell punching his ticket was the day my youth finally disappeared in the rearview mirror; that one hit me the hardest, because I thought he'd made it through where so many others fell off. That grunge shit wasn't a sham, you'd think these dudes would've been on top of the world, but they weren't. You can have millions of $ in the bank, and just as many adoring groupies ready to crawl over broken glass just to fulfill your every desire, but still heedlessly hurl yourself into the void. So what can I can I tell you? I don't know what's going on with you, and if I did I doubt I'd be capable of giving you any real comfort - that's just how it is, and how it should be, it's a journey for you. Such is life. We're all alone out here, but we'll all be together again - you know that. I'm not churchy, but I have faith ... in what? I'm not too sure, there's just a spark I hold, and that's enough. Life is cruel and the world is cold, if you let it be, but it needn't be so. Try: Radiohead, Paranoid Android. But I dunno if music should be indulgent anymore - I have a fondness when I'm sad for stuff that just turns my brain off altogether, like some ultraviolent jungle: ua-cam.com/video/IUcuVIAw-pM/v-deo.html
Chris is my favorite. U should try ‘Seasons’. Definitely the studio/jam version. Best wishes to you in these difficult times! 🙂 I also recommend Release by Pearl Jam and Can’t Find my Way Home by Blind Faith.
When dealing with darker moments in life I gravitate towards the band Sevendust. "Angel's Song" is probably the more universally loved song but "Trust" is my personal favorite. Hang in there and hope things get better soon
Tool has a trilogy of songs on the Lateralus album called Disposition Reflection Triad That’s my go to for a bit of a zen recovery from feeling bad. Even if it’s not for a reaction video I hope you have a chance To listen to these together in sequence.
Anything by Hammock or This Will Destroy You. For a personal listen. Probably wouldn't be big enough for a reaction episode. Love what you do, bro. We can all identify with the feeling of "down days". They aren't easy, but music has gotten me through a lot of rough times.
Hmmm, well.... I don't know what you're circumstances are Here's some track's from Soundgarden that have helped me push through thing's... Rusty Cage Rhinosaur And some track's from Soundgarden and Audioslave (another band Cornell was in) for reflecting, contemplating, searching... Our boy might need some System of a Down in his life. This band has helped me rethink the way I look at life some times. Start with either Chop Suey, or Aerials. Not sure if its "Spiderman 2" worthy but it might be what your looking for.
MONSOONS - PUSCIFER. One of Maynards projects. I used to listen to it every day before work as like a morning meditation. It has also helped me through some very stressful, seemingly hopeless situations. I hope you can get through your "darkness" soon brother.

Sorry so late but when I’m feeling some type of way I listen to Audioslave - I Am the Highway. Not Soundgarden but you still get Chris Cornell’s amazing voice. Hope this hits the spot
The album version is just as good, but the music video version is solid. The live versions of this track is great too. Chris Cornell was a great song writer and voice. One of those rare ones that could convey the deepest emotions lyrically , musically and vocally. This track in particularly really conveys depression perfectly. One of the few songs in any genre that just gets it. Always enjoy your buds as a comic fan and music fan.
@@jacksmith4460 agreed. I don’t know why they chose to do a live studio recording of the song fir the music video, but the track version is definitely more preferred despite not being too different.
I'm glad you said something about this being a different version, because it sounded a little different to my ear. I also seem to remember there being a different video for the song when it came out.
Not sure I get exactly what the mood is, so for song suggestions to help your mood... if you want to be encouraged and hear something bright then Toby Mac "Get back up", or if you want to just identify where you're at with someone else, then NF "Paralyzed"
Sixx AM - 'Life Is Beautiful', this is a fantastic song to uplift you Please give this a go. I have battled hard times and this song is really great motivation to me. Oh and here a great 'Planet Earth' video to the song: ua-cam.com/video/P_3iy5yxAAY/v-deo.html
Not sure if you want to be uplifted with something more happy or if you wanna hear a representation of your feelings. A soundgarden song that might give you a bit of both is Pretty Noose. There’s some frustration in the verses and the chorus goes major and has a more uplifting vibe. Great vocals and musicianship.
This song will not carry you through or lift you up, since it is about Chris Cornell describing what it is like to wake up and realize you are in a deep depression. Although he is a vocal genius, he sings about depression, waiting to die, etc, and in fact he took his own life. But I understand why you didnt get what you were looking for in this song.
Can anyone tell me why the original version (I mean the Super Unknown version) has vanished? It's better than this version. I have looked and struggled to find it. I am pretty sure this is a totally different take, and the guitar in the left speaker is not the same take, for sure and way louder in this version, and Chris' Vocal take is different (the little adlibs are different)
Where did this version come from? It's the second time I've seen someone review it and the sound is quite different from the album. (Albums better imo)
When they did the video for the single release they played it live instead of just lip-syncing to the album cut. I love them both so much that it’s hard for me to say which is my favorite version.
Chris Cornell is one of the best lyricists of my generation. Their song “The Day I Tried to Live” was like a soundtrack to my dark days.
Yeah. I think “The Day I Tried To Live” is the mood you are looking for. I could be wrong. Love to y’all.
I was thinking the same thing. Plus it's such a great display of Cornell's vocals
Yes. He is.
Maybe my fave, such a great tune

Agreed! Sevendust did a great job covering this song recently ua-cam.com/video/YhUUO_S4bpA/v-deo.html
This song draws a very clear line between "hard times" and "black days".

SOUNDGARDEN was one of the major GRUNGE BANDS that formed in the early 90's.
PEARL JAM, NIRVANA, ALICE IN CHAINS, STONED TEMPLE PILOTS are amazing. 💯🔥

Appreciate the honest take! I think for me, to find what you’re looking for, sometimes its finding a voice that resonates with you. It’s not even always about the lyrics, its about the tone and the vibe the song gives off.
Best vocals of the 90s, can be so smooth and so raspy at the same time. Just drips emotion
Check out Sound Garden's song " Slaves and Bulldozers" studio version. That will blow your mind. Chris Cornell goes off on that one
Thank you for suggesting that one. I loved it!!!!!
This is probably my favorite song from them. Hope you get past your black days soon. ❤️

Chris is my favorite. U should try ‘Seasons’. Definitely the studio/jam version. Best wishes to you in these difficult times! 🙂
I also recommend Release by Pearl Jam and Can’t Find my Way Home by Blind Faith.
Thrice - Hurricane. Just the main guitar riff alone captures me when I’m down and lifts me up. Then the lyrics really beautifully do the same.
This song isn’t about what you asked for, it’s about what it is, which is the dichotomy of life.
I like iced tea. RIP Chris!
