Thanks for getting to the point. I saw another video with two gibletheads who talked so much that I didn’t stick around to see what they sounded like. Awesome sounds you made there.
I dont think it will change the tonality of it so much as it will change how it feels...a cello bow is longer and will give you more room to kinda go mrrrrooowwwrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Imagine walking through a deserted city somewhere in the middle east covered in charred corpses and rubble. The weather is well over 100 degrees and you’re about to collapse from thirst, discomfort, nausea, and general weakness.
An LP or similarly type guitar works best for getting the depth of the low E. If using a guitar with a raised pick guard such as an LP, remove it, it'll get in the way. Raise your bridge for max string height, adjust your pickup height accordingly. I have an Epiphone Les Paul soley dedicated for playing with a bow, therefore a ridiculous string height is of no difference and is set up for this only. Clean the rosin off your pickups here and there, but, leave the strings tacky, it helps your bow grab better. The nastier the strings get, the better the sound you'll pull out of them. An elcheapo violin bow will do you just fine. Just an opinion from someone that's been doing this for several yrs. Hope this comment is helpful to anyone curious to look for the light inside of the darkness of this most eerily beautiful way of playing an electric.
i still come back to this video so often it's like one of my favorite things of all time. The eeriness of it all is so good. the way that it sounds like multiple instruments coming through one guitar. OUGH it's so good. I think about this song like all the time
This song should be played during the deeper and emotionally complicating moments of an as of yet undetermined future anime and I will personally guarantee you that the musical score will be deeply appreciated.
I dont think it will damage anything, but it will leave a sticky residue on the pickup covers as well as your strings. Its hard to clean off but, no I've never had any technical issues with rosin getting on the pickups.
I saw this as a kid when I first started playing the cello and I just gotta say this is as badass as I remembered it. The beginning of the video also really reminds me of the theme from the Revenant (or at least I think it's the theme). Really great stuff.
This is something I intend on doing in my lifetime because this sounds mystical and magical, and I pursued the piano already years ago, oh baby I love being a musician who loves doing different things
I think it fits perfectly to be sung at the cemetery, or in an old and abandoned building where many owls live who will listen to this song with pleasure!
Regarding Rosin damaging the pickups, heres food for thought: Jimmy Page had an uncovered bridge pickup and it died in 1972. No one knows why. Could have been the rosin, could have been a turn of the wind. He replaced it with a covered pickup and it lasted him all of Zeppelin into the 80s (why he replaced it I don't know).
it died because he left the tele with a friend when he went on tour and they painted over everything including the electrics that's why he stopped using the telecaster
Far out! the Space Echo is a wonderful effect.. I have got an RE-201 and it sounds great, especially when you turn up the amp quite loud so you can hear all the suble nuances in the echoes. It's beautiful!
that is amazing. this, combined with my love of sigur ros makes me promise to myself to get a cello bow in summer and learn to play a guitar like that...
If I may put what I thought it depicted (as art is all to the minds eye of each person to view/hear it), it was like that of dry desert riverbed remains with the rubbing of rotting away ships as some sand is carried by the wind over the towering dunes with the valleys with a slight parching hue of tan in the air from the very fine floating dust suspended in the air. Do keep doing these, they are great story makers and keep up the good work.
Speaking as a violinist here: that's the rosin from the bow's hair getting on the strings. Just use a soft cloth to clean off the strings after playing. Also, you should get a block of rosin to reapply to the hair whenever you go to play.
I done this on my acoustic when I was bored with learning the violin. As soon a I stroked one off, I was "fuuuuck, this is amazing". 20 minutes later the guilt set in as I had to cleanup all the sticky residues. Them semis felt flat after that day.
@@jroc6345 shouldn't do, violins use it all the time Just cleaning the strings is a ball ache. Use a cleaner that wont tamage the finish on your guitar.

Cello bows are shorter than violin bows. They are built for thicker, lower strings, so suit guitar strings better.
