those chips are getting harder and harder to find. You're looking at about three hundred bucks to replace that chip. They aren't made any more.

Very good Video. Exactly the same Problem I have with my Projector NEC NP100. After 2007 many DLP Projector have a low Price DNP Chips in bad quality. The Price for a new Chips is expansive and to much for Replacement by a old Projector.
Just done Acer x1261 got projector off Ebay for £4.99 with failing DMD chip got the DMD chip from Aliexpress £23.50 very fast delivery now projector works perfectly very bright clear picture

Great video my projector is the Viewsonic pjd5153 and it's got the same issue but mine seems fine when watching a dvd how was yours
This is exactly what's happening to mine so thanks for uploading!! Because I Was going to throw it away!! Although this looks pretty complex so may well still do that because it looks like actually you need a degree in electrical engineering just to locate the the damn chip :-(
So if anyone knows of place near Reading that does this please let me know many thanks!! :-)

Good evening everyone if you have a DMD chip problem know that Acer guarantees the chip 5 years so you can send them for repair if you have the warranty

I already replace the new one one year ago.and this problem come back..its cost MYR 100 last year.and i got MYR 70 in shopee last week.the cmd chip arrived, and i think i will replace it tonight..i think the quality aftermarket chip is low..i dont know how long it will last.i hope it will last longer.i thought it was about heat is too high produced from this projector cause chip blow up.i think i'll add a fan to reduce the heat😅
And also please check the heatsink pad /paste/compound in-between DMD and heatsink, replace if necessary.

Number 1 killer of electronics is heat. Keep it well ventilated while functioning and keep the fans and heatsinks clean

you replace the chip and i clean it with alcohol and a cotton swab ..actually it was dirt particles accumulated on the DMD chip. And now it fine
So u just clean it and it's can show like usual?

I think the chip gets too hot, BS engineers didn't even put ventilation on to the heat sink, planned obsolescence, and throw-away economy working hand in hand, a used chip costs almost the same as a new projector.

He didn't go to the extent of actually showing us how to replace the chip. Also, heavy Indian accent made it impossible to understand what he was saying, so needless to say whatever he was doing in disassembling the unit it was not clear, except for the part of saying to take a photo of the connectors before you disconnect them so that you don't get them mixed up. That part was clearly understood.☹

The chip DMD is garantie 5 years by Acer
Then, can get unit repaired at authorized service center if we get 5 years warranty and the unit not crossed 5 years from the date of purchase.
