Yep, this is a common issue. A friend gave me his iphone 6S because he thought it was "bricked." I spent a few minutes disassembling it to check for damage inside, but everything looked physically okay. I then determined there was no voltage at the battery even when plugged in even though I was able to detect voltage from the charger. This lead me to inspect the charge port and bingo! It was so packed with lint that it was obvious the charge plug was not contacting the pins. I used the plastic toothpick from my Swiss Army knife and minutes later it was charging successfully and powered up no problem! Years later I'm still using the 6S.
I've watched few of your videos but this one right here single handedly convinced me to sub, straight forward, educational content and no beating around the bushes, wish you get a million subs soon!
Thanks for the sub and yes I am hoping to hit a million this year! Thanks!
I use a piece of plastic tooth pick. Nice and soft. Compress air after wards.
Nice tip for those who don't know about this can fix "charge cab fitting issue".
Cheers mate
I did the same thing couple years ago when my old phone stopped charging and I was about to change the port, so this is 100% working tip. It was amazing how much dirt was inside of it.
Chris, I have this exact issue. Look forward to cleaning it out. Your videos are extremely applicable. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Chris, you are the man.
Thank you so much. Very helpful video.
This helped a lot! Thank you very much!

Thank you very much for this super useful video...
Terrific!! Thank you
Good one Chris.
Watching one of your videos is like eating a piece of cake ... good!
WOW!!! It probably does this in my purse too! Thanks, Chris!!!! 💕
Cool learned something new. Thanks.👍👍👊👊
Thank you for the tip. It can at just the right time. Tiny amount of fluff extracted, massive improvement to seating of the plug.
I see my sons put their phones in their pockets and chuckle in my head waiting to hear the complaints about how they need a new charger, all the while knowing what is responsible. Great video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Great tip , thanks for sharing, God bless !
Wow amazing, thanks for sharing
Thanks bro
i use an old toothbrush.. with soft bristles . works like a charm.. especially since its more bristles in there at a time it scrapes better and its not metallic
Right before seeing this in my subscription list I was ordering a new charging port. Just in time to cancel the purchase. Thanks, Chris
Missed u Grenpa!😊💞
Always helps to take a quick look when something is hosed. Good vid. And yet another reason to put it in a protective case, one with a charge port plug.
Yes I will be looking for one with a plug next phone I get.
Great tip. That’s a very expensive torche though.
They are not cheap but they are quality.

Excellent. If I ever need my phone to be able to charge again due to problems I'll now know what to do. 👍
My daughter recently threw away her phone because it wasn’t charging any longer...wish I would have seen this sooner. Love these kinds of tips and tricks...new subscriber here😀Thanks for posting👍

It worked great and saved me from my long time charging problem. thank you
Glad it helped!
Love your channel. Just wanted to say thanks for so many things. Dog bowl. Dust collector... Even the raft.
Thanks for watching!
Great screen saver Chris! 🤣🤣🤣
Sir you are just amazing
Thank you so much 😀
wow that flashlight is amazing
Metal pin in a charge port is not the best idea. Use a wood or plastic toothpick. Also, compressed air preferable to mouth blowing air to avoid water droplets entering the charge port (last thing you need is corrosion and need to replace the charge port) and it avoids the crap that flies out of the charge port back in your face.
All good tips!
@@chrisnotap yeah, I totally agree, pinning this comment is a good idea

I just ended up doing this recently! Luckily the tweezers set I have has a set of needlenose tweezers that worked really well.
If your a little worried about using a pin a plastic dental pick works great and is probably safer. I also have had to do it at a similar interval
Good video.
For what it's worth you have the links for the flashlight backwards. The US link brings up CAD pricing.
Thanks for that. I just corrected it.
Great Vid, (as ALL of yours are), Thank you, I use Can 'd Air plus a tooth pick, Go, Chris go
Great tip!
I'm a bread baker. My ports fill with flour. I have a pin stuck in my bedside lamp for this exact purpose. I have to do it weekly. Silicone plugs help, but I'm always forgetting them.
That a very unique situation!! It must take you flours to get it out!
@@chrisnotap hehe.. Great,.. i kneaded a laugh :~}
It's the yeast I could do!
@@chrisnotap Dough!!
Such bad buns... I mean, bread puns...
Ah! Whatever!
Another great tip however may I suggest not using a sharp metal spike /needle /pin. I sometimes use a wooden kebab pointy end.
I have damaged a connector in the past being over enthusiastic with a pin😱
A squirt of electrical contact cleaner and or compressed air if you have any works wonders too. Love your videos 😀😀👌
Thanks, i'm doing it now on my phone.
Thank Chris
I've folded a thin piece of newspaper over the plug and slipped it into the phone socket. Pulled and pushed it in and out several times then repeated with another clean piece, it's surprising the amount of Black oil residue can be removed from the terminals. Three phones out of three this fixed from not charging to charging again. Two iPhone's, the other phone I used a thin blade that fitted in just about but I can't remember what phone it was. I used some isopropyl as well.
Good video, loved the phone magnifying lens 👍
Blowing micht cause spit to get into ur charching port and speakers if u can use some commpresed air (also is that how u spell charching?)
Hi there, it seems to me that it’s not good idea to put a metal pin into charging port, I cannot overstate the importance of an uncontaminated port though.
Thank you very much! x 1,000,000! Saved me from a huge frustration. (I used a toothpick.)
Hey.. This might help with my apple tablet! It’s been having this same problem.
any tips to prevent mosquitos? thank you
Hi do you do any woodworking. It is a nice hobby to get into
Yes I do all kinds of work work!
I would turn the phone off before digging around in it with metal... it does output voltage.
even with it off the voltage is there.....an accident waiting to happen
@@SNORKYMEDIA indeed. plastic or wooden tooth picks work well enough.
I cut a strip out of an old gift card about the size of a toothpick. I then splay out one end and cut teeth in that end. Works pretty good. When you think you got it all out, keep digging there's more lint in there.
Yay my phone works again 🙂
many flashlight have a sos mode.... try holding down the power button 😊
I tried it with my Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet. Only a tiny bit came out, but I am optimistic. So far, the battery does seem to be charging faster than normal.
I got a magnetic charging cable for my phone, and laptop etc... It doesn't transfer data but after I cleaned out my charging port like 3 years ago I plugged one of them in and have never had to clean my port out again. I just searched type C magnetic phone charger. It's a great gadget.
Great tip though, I actually replaced a phone once because the cord wouldn't stay connected for the same reason.
#metoo (with phone) :D
But what do you mean by magnetic charging cable for your laptop?
I was wondering if it would be possible for you to do a study on the effects of smoking herbs such as Rosemary and mint leaves? I’m curious.
Can you do another smoking video comparing rolling paper or use a bong or pipe
I added a magnetic USB charger cable. The plug end stays in the phone all the time, so it never wears the connector or fills up with junk. The good thing about the magnetic coupler, the cable detaches instead of dragging the phone to the floor when the cable gets pulled inadvertently.
Nice tip though.
I always love your videos, but this one saved me a very expensive purchase. I was about to throw my phone out after getting fed up with a dead battery. Don't know why I never thought to check for dirt but 5 minutes with a needle and it is back in action. A big thanks!
That's great!!
Never had this issue.. I use wireless charging on my current samsungs20plus, and used it on my s9plus, and my s7 as well. Also..otterbox defender case ;)
Used to do this to my old phone (s4) but used the end of a paperclip or cut a plastic bread tie into a point, will this work with newer phones that have a c type socket?,keep up the good work +chrisnotap
Is that a yes/no? +chrisnotap ?
Hi Your ink for the US is not working. Where can buy that niffy fashlight. Great tips s by the way.
Sorry about that! I have went in and updated the link. Thanks for making me aware of that.
And there I was filing down and shortening the charging plug every month or two to have it fit.
What a great piece of advice!
* it's a joke *
Is it....really? :-/ :-)
Chris! you gotta quit buying cheap blue jeans and cheap laundry detergent or maybe wash our jeans more often!!! hahaha just kidding! you are still my internet hero thanks for the great demo
After cleaning, insert a plug that keeps the dirt out. (I've seen them on ebay and other online sellers). 💖🌞🌵😷
👍
What pin is adjacent to ground? 🤔
are toothpicks a good replacement for a pin? I don't have a pin
Hello. I have seen other videos of how smoking is really bad from you. Can you do why vaping is bad somehow?
If you cant thank you for atleast reading this comment.
Yes! I did smoking vs vaping !
Chris-I wish you lived next door!
I hope you can see my comments ❤️
I did this, I had so much lint in my charger port. I used some pointy tweezers tho.

Not sure Nolan although i do know it does work on hemorrhoids..
i use the broken original plug to keep it closed when in my pocket
Good advice. Does it work on belly buttons too?
Yes. Just remove the charge cable first!
And you might want to dull the pin...just sayin'.

Hello :)
Hello!
I use compressed air
I use silly putty to clean the charge port and the speakers
My last phone I had to do this every 2 to 4 months. When I bought this phone, I bought dust plugs to go in the charging port and headphone jack.
What about a vacuum?
I tried a vacuum and it did absolutely nothing. Yes, the water bubbled but that's all.
my brother tablit is not workin would this work
Try it. You have nothing to lose!
I used a toothpick 👍. It was as bad as my belly button
Pleas make video about shisha howish diferente effect to our body. Cigarette. And shisha 🙏🙏🙏

hey can’t you do how a monq affects your lungs. i’m curious to see whether or not it’s the smoke or what you’re smoking
I use a flattened toothpick to make sure I don’t hurt any pins.
Like I say in the video, "do it gently" and you won't have an issue. Good luck!
@@chrisnotap I watched the whole video 😎. Just chipping in my two cents no one asked for.
That's a good tip!

I pulled 3 belly button loads of lint out of my charging port
Help!!! I did this exact thing and now my phone won't take a charge at all. What do I do?
Should I immerse my phone in pure ethanol?
nop! It only increases the risk of igniting battery!
PLEASEE do "how to fix a broken/cracked Iphone"
Helpful, but increasingly obsolete ... USB-C for example has a center tab (reversible), so there's not much room for a pin.
