Great video, loved watching the evolution of ARF team logos, though one thing missing is the Brisbane Bears and Fitzroy Lions. I first started watching the game when we got cable where I lived, and ESPN showed one game a week, back when there were 12 teams and they all had the shield logos with the team name on top. Anyway for that period when North Melbourne dropped the city name and were knows simply as "Kangaroos", would've been fitting for, say, an electronics company
Essendon need to keep the plane logo permanently and only have their 150 Years logo as their one-year anniversary logo. Love from Chelmsford, Massachusetts, USA 😊
I would love to know why none of the teams in the AFL wear green as their primary colour, even though it is one of the primary colours worn by national sports teams of Australia. I'm also curious about why so many teams wear black and dark blue as well.
Yeah it honestly really baffles me how NONE of the teams utilize green in their colours. Fremantle used to but not anymore. I think the new Tasmanian team they're introducing in 2028 will finally change that though.
It’s interesting as the Swans have a copyright hold on a SMFC logo that dates back to the 1930’s. I’m not sure if the history of the club logos only dates back to the mid 70’s. Carlton’s CFC monogram that was in their first shield has clearly been around longer than that.

Interesting to see how the changes reflect the design fashions of the time. As an Eagles fan quite like our current one.
Personally I don't think Richmond will have to change their logo unless it gets outdated compared to other clubs.
Not for another 30 years IMO - the current Richmond badge is slick and doesn't look out of place

Carlton's original colour, adopted 27 April 1871, was not royal blue but Oxford Blue (pantone 282) ie dark blue.
