This was a pleasure to watch. That's the dedication and commitment that I subbed for some years back! I remember watching you practice your scrapes under that train bridge! Inspirational stuff here man :) Edit: oh and also for the beautiful supermoto
I did this often on my CR 500 years ago(late1990s). It is a bit much on a bigger bike but I was able to get over things other people I was riding with couldn't. The benefit of riding a trials, both moto and cycle trials as well as BMX.
gnagsaar moto sometimes...okay, most of the time haha. Can’t say much comes easy even if it seems like it does to others. Lots of failures happen before I learn!! Thanks for watching 😁
You could make a pretty simple linkage guard by bolting a rubber or hard plastic flap to your skidplate, would protect your linkage a bit from hitting anything an helps sliding over stuff on your skidplate
Cat-Man Dan she’s be upset. She didn’t like when I did Cooper things than her. And she’d always let me know...unfortunately, really. I enjoyed riding with her when she was actually positive and not putting me down.
With a trial light bike you would probably have done in 1st attempt or 2nd... But the awesome part is really you doing it with the YZ250X, when you done right it looked butter smooth like a trial bike.
Good job. Remember The Jarvis probably hit stuff like this 1000 times on a trials bike before he even started on the enduro bike, then another thousand.....
deon van zyl thankfully more so mental! Very easy to psych yourself out...my legs were pretty trashed that night too though haha. POWER SQUATS!!!! Thanks!
I am so not the technical rider, you are really committed.... Dude seriously you should be committed! Just yanking your chain nice job! Would like to see you do more, go ride with Joey Mac and get your PhD in Tech riding
that's the same approach most skateboarders, snowboarders, and wakeboarders have ... I can guarantee you, you start waking up after the first attempt goes wrong ... it's adrenaline ... nice footage, by the way
In Morenci Arizona there was a place we used to ride there was like a 15 foot vertical cliff I'm talking to you have to hit it about 35 miles an hour to clear it and then you're landing like a 2in from the lip
I think it's FnRad that you ride yz hard enduro instead of a ktm. That's dope. I have a 2006 yz250, I don't do lectron, I got stock carb. Do you ever foul plugs? If I do low speed stuff I foul mine quick. Do you use a flywheel weight? What's your sprocket gearing? Thanks
I was very intrigued hearing your analysis. My mental process works the same way when I review my footage. The biggest struggle is the mental battle. You were right on the money with the hips - many of those attempts would have gone better if you pulled the bars right into your hips so the bike wouldn't bounce off or leave you behind at the top. I'm thinking with an obstacle this height and with that approach, you probably won't need to throw your hips back that much at the top; the bike will be so vertical at the top that you probably won't be able to get your weight back easily. Your form on 21 seemed perfect - bars in the hips, weight driving through the pegs at the top which provided all the weight and traction needed at the rear at that bike angle. This is turning into a wall of text, but I have to ask. Do you cover the rear brake the entire time? When I attempt walls or other large obstacles, I swing my foot out of the way of the rear brake because I feel like it gets in the way. But this makes the mental challenge harder because sometimes I feel like it's hard to get back over the rear brake when I need it and my foot ends up dancing for it. Anyway, awesome work dude, your video just motivated me to finish building that splatter and double blip wall in the back yard tomorrow because the trials techniques get rusty when you don't use them regularly.
What you're describing sounds like more of a zap depending on when you're talking about unloading. For this size wall and that run-up, the double blip is more suited where you drive the rear wheel in hard as he is doing, and drive your weight through the footpegs near the top to hold pressure for traction. I say pulling the bars to the hips because it's easier to get the point across - you dont actually have to pull, the bike will do that part as you throttle and your front rebounds - you just dont want to push yourself away from the bars, let them come right into the hips. Pushing away too soon will reduce traction, and put your weight too far back and cause the bike to rebound off the wall.
Nice job dude. I ride trials more often. Try lowering your tire pressure a bit more. Move your kicker out farther about the same distance as the obstacle is tall. Keep up the good work
Moto Mania thanks! I usually have a funny tire on at low pressure... i was “street” riding and just left it lol. I wasn’t trying to splatter. If that was the case, I could probably do that first try no problem.
You had this the entire time it just was in your head you have the skills. Intimidating coming at it I agree, I got a trials bike a few years ago to help with obstacles like this. It helped a lot, just my opinion though and I may have hit my head w few times lol!!!
