oh so nice, cant believe I got the response from you, Ruud! Please come and play the music in Hong Kong, I have been waiting for you guys for more than 10 years already ! And I am watching the documentary about Ed. Snowden, "citizen four" and make me think of the new album, resist.
Please more of those videos Ruud! Those are so cool and interesting to watch, thanks for letting us being part of the development of the masterpieces you create!
It's so cool that you have the recording proccess registered. It's really interesting to see how it all works on the studio. Great job again, I loved the album, it's definetly one of my favorites. Congratulations!
These behind the scenes videos make the album more enjoyable. And love the chemistry you have with Stephan. Great duo, awesome band. Love you guys :) 🤘
Loved the behind the scenes video (as well as the tour videos)! You, Stefan, and Robert are big influences to push me to started guitar lessons. This new album has jumped to the top of my list for favorite album. I love the heavy sound of it! You guys rocked at the Denver show last week! Keep up the amazing work in both music and the videos!
Hello dear Ruud, I'm very sorry for the delay of my message, this new video is really a masterpiece for all fans of guitarists of Within Temptation. When we listen one music's CD we cannot imagine the very hard work of musicians but with this new video we can watched Stefan and you working for RESIST, it's really a long work. For one fan of Iron Maiden like you it's will be a great moment to recorded your guitar's parts, you're a lucky guy and you can be pround. Few day I've received at my home "Resist - Limited Box Set" and it's a great album, with the instrumentals musics we can listen your guitar's parts as other albums of Within Temptation. Once again you can be pround of your work with RESIST it's really awesome, of course in live the songs of RESIST will be differents, more Metal and more guitars... Dear Ruud I wish you a very good evening, god bless you. Best regards, Olivier.
really cool to see these videos, love seeing the creative process, not many people do this and its really awesome you took the time to show us all how its done :)
I love "Somewhere in time" by the mighty Iron Maiden. The first true metal album I ever bought was "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" by Maiden in 1987 !. Its heavy with a goth element.....have you got that too Ruud ?. Anyway....its videos like this that need showing to all the "so-called" fans who keep groaning about Resist not being 'classic' WT. These people seem totally devoid of any notion of the work that goes into recording an album, let alone all jamming and mixing sessions....and making a cut worthy of release. Resist is a masterpiece, WT are gods (and a goddess !). The lovely Sharon will always steal the limelight....but all you guys are just as awesome too.
Found this, being a gear freak, what a wonderful collection of guitars. Yeh Evertune’s are a pain in the ass actually but a necessary evil. I believe your wonderful band are quite the big name, look forward to listening to it following this video.
Really nice video. I should really try and use a metronome when recording. I always end up just using a basic drum line and then I work on the drums once the structure of the song is done. The tick tock is a bit much for my ears lol.
I really enjoy stuff like this and how an album comes together 😄 Also what tuning were the guitars in for Trophy hunter because boy it sounds deep and heavy! 😁
That is my favorite of all time album as well. What is your favorite song and part of that song? I love the very end of Alexander the Great. This is the album from Maiden that did it for me. Love it. I found you guys on the internet about a year ago while I was searching out new bands. Paradise was the song. Damn!! I was instantly hooked. Kind of like Some Where in Time. But More!! Are you getting an AXEFX3? Rock on!!!!
Seeing behind the scenes like this is awesome! This was your first time recording together with Stefan instead of by yourself in your own studio, right? Would you say you prefer to do it like this, or if you thought developing things on your own was better? Will you do it like this again for new songs in the future?
I enjoyed this video, thanks Ruud! Did you play Mad World with an 8 string guitar as well? Because I played it on my 6 string electric guitar and something didn't seem right, specially with the intro guitar part.
What‘s your opinion on the Evertune bridge? I love the idea! But I have a 7-string with Evertune and feel like it‘s lacking a bit sustain and attack/bite compared to my hardtail guitars. Just not sure if it‘s because of the bridge or if it‘s just the guitar.
The board in your studio has less channels than I would have expected, so I assume you are mostly doing digital mixing? What program do you guys use for laying down the tracks? And is it the same program used for your final mixing?
The studio you see in this video is not the mixing studio. We only used this one to track guitars and bass. So you don’t need many channels at all. We used Protools to track
i don't understand why symphonic metal bands use 7 and 8 string guitars ! i mean non of you playing something special or of course you don't need that Djenti sound of 7/8 strings ! can someone explain why ?
Why would only Djent bands be allowed to use the lower notes? We’ve been using 7-string guitars for 15 years now and it has defined our sound. And it often has to do with the key of the songs. This time around we played in lower keys than before. And instead of playing it higher up the neck we decided to use an 8-string guitar to keep the same heavyness 🙂 I hope this explains it a little bit 🙂
We want to hear Endless War's Demo 😍
one of the songs is the demo version of the "Endless War", and it sounds pretty good, and more symphonic and it sounds heavier than the album version.
oh so nice, cant believe I got the response from you, Ruud!

Hong Kong fans here too!

I LOVED this Endless War demo version. Could the band consider release the full demo version in the future? Tks and love you. 🖤
Thank you for letting us see this kind of videos and know a little bit about the recording of WT music.
Thank you! It's so nice to see the recording process of an album I like so much!
Your video editing choices and skills are also very entertaining!
It's great after hear the final results, watch a little bit of the big process behind a song, great studio, gentle guitars, incredible musicians

PD: the song on the 8:39 min. sounds really cool!
Interesting to see . . . especially when it's about my all time favourite band . . Thanks Ruud.

Thank you for showing! ❤️ I love this working chaos in the Studio.😁 Greetings from germany. 🤘
8.39 - sounds little bit like Muse style :D Love those videos, it's great to see behind the scenes stuff :)
Love watching studio videos! . Caught you guys on this tour in London Brixton and you guys killed it! Keep on rocking guys! \m/
I really want to know when Sharon is recording
So why is Endless War demo so much better?
Brilliant Nigel. Please tell me you ripped into some maiden riffs in that place.
I love you behind the scenes videos. You are such amazing person and group :)
8:51 I have literally never seen someone do that before! What a cool idea! XD
Nice video, greetings from France \m/

Also 8-string with low F#
@@ruudjolieofficial That's so awesome! Really love the way it sounds in that song a lot 😁

Not getting one anytime soon since they’re expensive and I still love my AxeFxII
Excelent
This was sooo interesting :)

Correct. I really liked it!
I enjoyed this video, thanks Ruud! Did you play Mad World with an 8 string guitar as well? Because I played it on my 6 string electric guitar and something didn't seem right, specially with the intro guitar part.
Yes I did. I believe we tuned the low F# string down to E. An octave below a normal E string. Ridiculous haha
Wow! Okay that explains it then. 😂
8:38 - A Fool's Parade 😁
Good video ))))

Just not sure if it‘s because of the bridge or if it‘s just the guitar.
I agree. We haven’t used it that much for that reason
Well...damn! 😝
I guess it‘s just too good to „be true“ then. Thanks for the reply, appreciate it. 👊🏻
Awesome! Hi Ruud want to know if your 8 string was tuned to Standard F#?
Yes it was
@@ruudjolieofficial Thank you for the reply! Hope you guys would return to perform in Hong Kong one day!
❤❤❤❤❤
16 february? Wait did lord Ruud master time travel? :D
No 2018 😏
@@ruudjolieofficial So the guitar recording was in February and by October you were already on tour with the album? Nice... ^_^
Yep that’s correct 🙂
@@ruudjolieofficial Envy your mobility ;)
Hey Ruud, did you guys record the entire album with Kemper or did you use different sounds? :)
All Kemper. Different sounds of course.
@@ruudjolieofficial That's awesome. Thanks for replying! What preset was the main rhythm guitar sound?

Verrek, ik zat volgens mij nog bijna met je broer in een band, kan dat? In Eindhoven, zo’n dikke 10 jaar terug🤔
Nee dat lijkt me erg onwaarschijnlijk. Ik heb helemaal geen broer
