- Did you know that Kobe Bryant allegedly left Adidas for Nike because of these hideous signature shoes? I mean can you blame him? They actually look more like space boots. Some might even say they resemble toasters. Kobe even reportedly paid millions to get out of his Adidas contract. And Kobe was just one of three generational type players Adidas dropped the ball with. Tough one for the 3 stripes, as Kobe would go on to ink a lucrative deal with Nike, and create some of the most iconic and collectible sneakers in history!

fun fact: Kobe wore the Adidas Kobe 1 for all 3 Finals during their 2000-2002 3peat.
...debut them for the 1st time in the 2000 finals. wore them in the finals for 2001( the season they actually came out) then switched back to them just for the 2002 finals after wearing the kobetwo all season.

Oh no, I'm gonna say it. I love the Adidas Kobe 2s. I would love to get my hands on a few pairs, as well as the 1s. I'm glad Adidas is rereleasing some of those!
Few days ago I visited a nike store in my country (i.e. india). I was delighted to have a look at kobe's shows for the first time in my life.
Even though they were too much expensive for me to purchase, but that was the first time i help a kobe shoe

He started (and helped design, along with erik avar) with the huarache 2k4s, his unnofficial "first" signature with nike.
Due to the rape allegations, nike did not want to put kobe signature in that shoe, and the following shoe too (the huarache 2k5s)
Only when the dust settled (late 2005), they release kobes 1st official signature sneaker

I had all the Kobe II’s because they were all available for like $20 clearance and they were funny to wear. I even had a mall kiosk airbrusher make me the USA flag pair . Everything is legit in the video except for the part that Kobe was one of the first to put out low cut basketball sneakers, there were already a bunch in the 80’s and 90’s (Jordan 2, 11 I.e., 13), Reebok question low, and others were worn on nba courts. Also the Adidas Feet You Wear logo was one of my favorite . Something about that goofy little face was so charming

The problem with these shoes is that they are very heavy and the laces are borderline impossible to re-lace if they come out. I once wore them to a rec league game and they fell apart on the court too as I Walked around and I had to go home and get an actual pair haha
The addidas logo and marketing for Kobe was so much better than the micro mamba approach Nike went with...Probably why he isn't here anymore...

After these shoes saw the light of day, no one liked it. Lol. In comparison, if I remember correctly, Adidas has also the T-Mac's by the time these Kobe 2 was out. T-Macs' was way better. Why Kobe's shoes look awful while T-Mac's' was fire.

Just how bloody ungrateful is Vanessa Bryant! Sponsorships were dropping Bryant but Nike still signed Kobe while battling assault charges. I guess that's what happens when you get a taste of having shit loads of money and fame. Even his wife Vannessa had the audacity to think Nike was lowballing them with the contract renewal and made Nike look bad for not releasing enough sneakers. Now, the shoe resellers are the only one's benefiting and the true fans are still missing out.
