Hard work pays off, I was homeless at the age of 20 and now 28 i have an STi a nice apt and go on plenty of vacations without eating PB&J's for dinner. Anything is possible if your willing to work hard enough to achieve your goals.
It took me two jobs working graveyard shift and day shift as a security guard to finally purchase my dream car, 2015 Subaru WRX STI. You can have this car too, or the car of you dreams. You have to work hard for it, and make sacrifices. But trust me, once you are at the dealership and handed the keys to your dream car that you've worked your ass off for, its one of the greatest feelings in the world.
People like you help me be patient! I am currently in welding school and all I can see is the outcome and not the present. It helps me keep calm and patient knowing I can get an STI later when I can afford it. Definitely subscribing!
For those of you wanting an Sti, just save your money for a big down payment and it will be easily affordable monthly....I plan on getting one in 10-12 months, good luck to you all in set for a dream car
***** Subaru list the WRX STi Limited at $39,995. Just add a keychain and you're over $40k. I paid $45,xxx for my limited STi. I added every option I wanted. Starting price for each WRX: $26,695 WRX Premium: $28,995 WRX Limited: $30,995 WRX STi: $35,195 WRX STi Limited: $39,995 In case you cant math, option for option, an STi will always be more expensive unless your dealer absolutely raped you.
Gabriel Aquino That's base price. I special ordered my car which took 3 months to arrive. you cant just order a car at a set price then act like you don't want to pay for it when it shows up. STi's don't sit on the lot for long so asking for them to knock down the price is going to get you laughed at.
Thank you for giving a detailed path into your career! Usually these videos are people bullshitting around (most likely to hide that mom/dad paid for it). Yours was pretty straightforward.
Guess I got lucky with mine. My brother had his 05 since new and took very good care of it. Super clean car, never driven hard, it even had the factory clutch at 120k when I bought it. He gave me the little brother deal for 9 grand. Gave him 4K cash and financed the other 5 to help build credit. Fortunate I have one of my dream cars at 24 with no debt. Good video man, always interesting to hear people's story.
Phil C, I placed my order January 8th so be prepared for a long wait. Hopefully you will get yours within the projected time frame. I am still waiting... Delivery to the port is April 20th and the receive date is the 28th...
I would enjoy hearing your perspective on living with the STI as a daily commuter - dealing with traffic, your thoughts on cabin noise/drone, etc. Would be interesting as someone that really likes this car but not sure if how it'd do as a commuter in Boston area traffic.
I daily my car 14 miles one way into downtown Denver and don't find it problematic. Cabin noise is very quiet, imo. My nameless exhaust doesn't drone at all, one of the reasons I chose that particular exhaust. Sure, your left leg gets a little workout, but that keeps me focused and not bored in traffic is what I've found. I have no regrets/issues driving it in rush hour everyday. I think it's an incredibly easy car/clutch to drive in traffic.
+Alpha 60 well I did manage to save up enough for a air freshener!! I can't afford premium so I put reg unleaded in it. If it takes a crap on me...oh well I'll just go get another! Whaaaaaat a country!!!!!!!
Consulting these days is not a perm. hire job. Most of the consulting for engineering, social media, marketing, IT, etc are contract workers ranging from 3 months to 2 years. What's great about it is you get paid a high hourly rate but your taxes are super high (at least in NY) and job security might not be so great compared to other job fields. I'm glad you are successful in your field tough. Congrats!
Oh yes, you make a lot during the year but tax season hits you big time when you realize what you owe Uncle Sam. Another downside is you need to figure out your own healthcare and you don't get benefits like an employer match for retirement. Again, pros and cons.
We need more vids bro, I'm addicted to your videos. Very informative and friendly. I'm currently driving a Kraftwerks Supercharged Civic SI and I can't wait to make the switch to a 2015 or 2016 STI. I'm a father of 1 and 2 dogs and I need a 4 door car that is fun to drive stock. And I decided on the STI.
Hi. Elsasti. Please enlighten me on this topic: Ringlands! Im about to purchase my very first subaru sti. Does ringlands still occurs on 2015+ models? Thanks man.
Drewgunner14, I'm positive that the ringland failure is still a thing, except things are bound to go wrong because "race car." Personally I feel like it's when you best in the car and you don't take care of it properly like letting it get to the right temps, letting it cool down, proper oil changes, and preventative maintenance. As long as you don't beat the hell out of your STI, you should be fine! I'm buying one in a couple of years as I am straightening it my finances and graduating college in a week so I'm eager and very excited.
I'm 33 and recently semi retired. kids be smart and invest! Thank God I listened to my dad and invested in silver when it was $6.40 an ounce and sold near the high in 2011. I took that money and reinvested it in Facebook and Netflix stock and now I'm semi retired enjoying life. Make smart decisions be disciplined save and invest.
Right on man- props for working to afford the car you wanted. But honestly- people actually asked you about this? It's not an expensive car. I bought my '14 Evo for ~38k at 24. These aren't exotic cars.
Your video is the route I intend to walk as well. As much as I want certain cars right now its just not a smart investment to blow money on a nice car when im paying for college and soon more bills, rent, etc. It sucks but thats just how it goes, nice video man.
It's the smart play, and most people don't want to do the smart play. They want the instant gratification. Just wait it out and get to place in your life that you have more than enough money to have the car you want but still save for retirement, buy your dream house, go on vacations, etc. It's worth it.
It has a higher cost of ownership than most cars on the road, and those costs rise the more fun you have with it. Now... If you go out and start blowing money on an STi, I would hope that same person -- Owns a home -- Is putting at least 10% of income into retirement -- Has a large emergency fund in place -- Has investments in a diverse portfolio -- Isn't scrapping by eating ramen -- NEVER putting things on credit, especially car parts. Again, buying and affording are very different.
eating ramen hahahaha, I had to eat that every once in a while when I bought my mustang in my senior year in high school, didnt got the help of parents and had to work to buy my car.
It's not black and white. While much of the power for major engine work/warranty work resides with Subaru of America, dealerships vary in their friendliness to mods. Some will work with you a lot more, while others will try and use an axleback as an excuse to deny you. Just depends on your local dealer.
Buy a used one. 2016 30k mi, clean title, already has the goodies: cobb stage 2, coilovers, etc $28,500. If you bought a brand new one and did all that: closer to $50,000
Elsa! Let me come intern with you! I'm a senior at my university with a double major in english and communications :D Like yourself, I love the field/idea of digital marketing and social media
People should also realize that they can save long-term by not having a loan. Instead of paying for a loan every month, put $300 or whatever your loan payment would be into a savings account, and eventually you'll have enough to buy the car you want. This way you save by not having to pay interest.
It's a 40k + car, some people can buy it maybe like put down 3k down payment but they can't afford it.High insurance, gasoline, maintenance, talking bout 700bucks monthly payment(just sitting in the garage) etc,not easy. #respect
Gas expense? It's a turbocharged 4 banger. Dont drive it like an idiot and they get decent mileage. Insurance is 10 bucks higher a month than a 16 Ram 1500.
+ElsaSTI haha fuck you mean? All you need is money & good credit. If not me & my friends are doing something right. Im only 18 & i already own my 2013 gen coupe after a 36 month lease. & im still a senior in high school. Only smart people will find wats to make money in different ways & not stick to one job.
+Edgar Roldan If you don't even live on your own, you don't understand the expenses with living life yet. (mortgage, utilities, insurance, retirement, investments, groceries, the list goes on and on.) Give your age, you should be focused on college or cementing your career and less about dumping money into a car.
Put nothing down on my 14 wrx hatch, came to 30k total, and payments are 411, insurance 120 and I'm only 26 and a mechanic, very affordable on a 60k salary
The median American household income is just a tad over $61K. I was making about this a few years back on my own and knew I couldn't "afford" a new STI. It's not unreachable but you have people thinking they can "afford" this car on minimum wage lol. What they're forgetting to reveal is they live with mom and dad, have mom and dad paying for their insurance, get handouts for gas from mom and dad, have free food covered by mom and dad, etc.
The WRX or STi are good on paper for the price but the insurance is a lot youre right. The STi is 40k and there is not way that doesnt set some people back.
My first owned car was a '02 RSX-S and my insurance premium was $425 monthly when I was 22. Same insurance coverage for the same car dropped to $120 when I turned 25. It looks like you need to reach the next drop point, probably age 50 lol
It's a $36,000 vehicle. Let's not get carried away because you wanted the Limited model with sun roof... Also, the insurance on my car with State Farm is on par with a Honda Civic... it is not higher... in fact it gets a discount because of it's 5 star crash rating by the IIHS...
I'm no expert about advice on life but I see a lot of people saying "hard work pays off" "hard work this hard works that" tbh you don't have to work hard to get financially stable, I'm not wodded with dough but definitely happy we're I am as is have a 2006 hawkeye sti with a few mods on it and all I did was put lots of hours into my work as an electrician I didn't "work harder" as most of it was spent fuckin around and having a laugh with my colleagues and getting paid for it so you don't have to work hard but just be cunning and find easier ways to make money
Simple way to break it down. If you make as much as the car is priced a year, than you can but only if you don't take vacations and nights out with the girlfriend/wife; renting vs owning. Etc. example if the car cost $45k a year car and ownership (Maintenance) then you should AT LEAST make $45k a year as well.
Or if you don't have a job that pays you annually equal or more to the price of an STi, you could... you know... save up for a couple years and pay it all in cash like I'm doing now..
Viewing the comments, in the USA is so fucking easy to get a Subaru 2016, in my country (South American) is just for rich people. Here people pays 4 years for Kia Rio or Chevrolet Sail
I'm 23. I live in NYC too. I used to live in Brooklyn but soon moved to Manhattan. Lease is up on Fenway 2018 so I'm gonna move to dumbo or cobble hills. Around the area. Currently I'm driving a tesla model x and a sti. I have leased my tesla model x 100d. I've payed cash for my sti. And I'm financing a gtr next month. Gonna make a wide body. I pay a bout 4k for rent. Oh and I own two multi family homes in Long Island. I rent them oht for 3k each.
Well speaking in terms of the STi, this is the best STi made to date. The stiffer chassis and improves they did there make a world of difference in terms of handling.
+LiquidFrost a $15 an hour job will not allow you to afford a 40k car. unless you're okay with making poor financial decisions. after taxes you got like 25k left. then you have bills and food.
People that can afford to get a STI through their rich parents spoiled them or hassling in the street or work full time for 10 years. That how I afford to get STI by saving those money from full time for 10 years.
$40,000 car with no down payment you are looking at $600/month payments. If you make $10/hr with 40 hours per week, your monthly income after tax is around $1,200/month. So if you buy a brand new sti for $40k you'll be spending half your income on car payment alone. Would not recommend!
Good guess, but I'm a stripper. I just have a basic understanding of simple mathematics. A $40k car + 6.5% tax + 3.5% interest = roughly $600 a month over 6 years + roughly $120 a month for insurance = $700 per month. Minimum wage ($7.25) x 30 hours per week nets roughly $720 per month, which is more than enough to cover and STi and insurance assuming you have good credit and a clean record. I just wanted people to know what it takes to own an STI. Nice car by the way. I have a 15 STI.
+Chili Dog Your math is sort of correct , but given your budget you'd be -- Living out of your car -- Eating Ramen three meals a day -- Have no retirement -- Could never do anything but sit in your car and stare at it -- Not have gas to put in the tank because all your cash is going towards a car payment and insurance 😂😂😂😂😂
ElsaSTI You seem really defensive and offended, man. I was just giving an example of the bare minimum needed to attain a new STI. I wasn't suggesting that someone try to live on their own off of 30 hours of minimum wage a week, even though they could if they wanted to. My point was that practically anyone in the US can get an STI if they want one. Maybe there are people that already have jobs to cover bills, food, housing, gas, etc. and they want to pick up a second job just to pay for an STI. Or maybe they live at home while attending college and don't have any bills. Maybe they didn't realize that 30 hours of minimum wage a week would get them an STI. Either way, minimum wage is irrelevant because even a high school dropout can get a job that pays at least $15 an hour, which after the $700 for the STI and insurance would still have about $1300 left. Assuming the STI owner is a male, he could split a $1400 mortgage or rent payment with a girlfriend or wife and they'd still have roughly $1200 leftover for everything else assuming she also makes only $15 an hour. If the guy was single he could buy an STI for $700 per month and a $150,000 house for $700 per month and still have about $600 leftover for bills, gas, food, etc. I'm just showing people that an STI isn't as far out of their reach as they think. Hell, my grandma's 2013 minivan was more than my 2015 STI. I wonder if people ask her how she affords it, lol. If they do, they're probably the same little kids that ask you how you afford an STI.
+Chili Dog You just need to learn the difference between being able to make a car payment, and being able to afford the car payment-- they're two very different things.
+Josef B I could obtain a GTR, the difference is I'd like to own a nice home, travel and still retire well before 60. As I've stated to others, just because you make enough to make a payment doesn't mean you can afford the car. Basic finance seems to be lost of many these days.
+ElsaSTI Have a mortgage, 3 kids, wife, 4 cars (range rover, exige s, A7, Versa and 3 paid off). could obtain exotic but think of my family first. also a retirement account which i put 2k$ every month. To me it seems you make this car expensive auto that only a few can afford.
Don't work minimum wage jobs and ask for $15 an hour... Never stop trying to move up until you enjoy what you do and make some decent money! My rule of thumb though is if you're annual income is less than the car then you can't afford it.. Probably not true but that's the way I go about things
Well those illegal immigrant need to stop coming to the US stealing our job. That is why we losing more job and giving these job to illegal immigrant and they get everything for free. Even rising minimum wage will rising all the food and clothing prices up.
+WRXRED2018 Subaru your parents are related aren't they? It's not their fault they come over here and do the jobs no one else wants to. It's not their fault that they work harder than everyone. It's not their fault that they're willing to bust their ass for mediocre pay.
Hard work pays off, I was homeless at the age of 20 and now 28 i have an STi a nice apt and go on plenty of vacations without eating PB&J's for dinner. Anything is possible if your willing to work hard enough to achieve your goals.
Hell yeah, nice job man.
Nice, what do you do?
It took me two jobs working graveyard shift and day shift as a security guard to finally purchase my dream car, 2015 Subaru WRX STI. You can have this car too, or the car of you dreams. You have to work hard for it, and make sacrifices. But trust me, once you are at the dealership and handed the keys to your dream car that you've worked your ass off for, its one of the greatest feelings in the world.
That's exactly how I feel. I knoww I can put in the effort to afford all my dream cars that I want. :)
Wise but true words there . I work hard right now to afford my next car and can’t wait to have this feeling!
Sounds like your working just for a car seems stupid but whatever
Career/work. Timing. 04 STI was the dream car of mine too. Settled with the 05 WRX. A decade later... in STI (with toys). 😁
🙌🏻💯👍🏻😁
As always, great video! I'm counting the days until my car is delivered. Your videos help keep me content. Thanks for the effort in putting these out.
People like you help me be patient! I am currently in welding school and all I can see is the outcome and not the present. It helps me keep calm and patient knowing I can get an STI later when I can afford it. Definitely subscribing!
Be patient. You have plenty of time. Don't jump the gun. Wait until the day you can 100% afford it and you'll enjoy it much more.

sti is affordable if you are not lazy. it's not a Hyper car
+Jaysneaks98 A 2016 limited wrx w/CVT is $4k cheaper than a STi. If you add option for option than a WRX will never be more expensive.

is it really that expensive to own one?
It has a higher cost of ownership than most cars on the road, and those costs rise the more fun you have with it.

eating ramen hahahaha, I had to eat that every once in a while when I bought my mustang in my senior year in high school, didnt got the help of parents and had to work to buy my car.
I'm eating Ramen noodles to afford my car : (
Moron what a way to live... Stop fronting
some people save money that way. like how you get by with only kimchi and rice.
I suggest you stop and eat healthy. The long term health ramifications of eating top ramen will cost you more than eating nutritious food now.
Thanks for sharing. I would be interested if you did a video about Subaru's warranty and mods. Is it as black and white as people say?

So adjunct teaching one class makes you enough to buy an STI?
No, I work full-time as a staff member as the social media manager for the university in addition to teaching.
hey bro. Do I need an accessport for a catback exhaust? or either a tune to not run into engine problems?
No, you don't.

good stuff!! thanks for sharing!
I am a MS MKTG student of UCD. Small world!
Well if you see a white STi near the b-school, it's probably me. ☺️👍🏻
I own a 15 sti and it was also my dream car. I hope that in the future I'll get my other dream car a GTR
Owning a GTR is on my list, too. 👍🏻

+jaime carrasco i ll meet yall half way, went from civic, 350z 2016 sti, next car will be m4 or i8.
I live in Colorado! And go to school at UCD
I have a friend who works at Burger King & owns a 2014 sti 😂 job don't matter as long as you're smart with your money 💸
Job does matter. Again, having enough pennies in the checking account doesn't equate to being able to afford the car.
+ElsaSTI I agree, he can't afford the far.

+mikebing1230 Yeah, cost of living in Colorado is getting expensive, particularly in Denver because everyone wants to move here. 😑
I can afford it but I don't like payments so I rather buy one cash that's salvage title.
Idk why I’m here. I already have a 17 STi lol I would only make this video if I owned a Lambo or Ferrari etc. Stis are not un reachable
I mean, it's an STI. It's not hard at all to own.
It's a $40,000 vehicle with high insurance premiums and more expensive ownership costs than your average vehicle.
I'm no expert about advice on life but I see a lot of people saying "hard work pays off" "hard work this hard works that" tbh you don't have to work hard to get financially stable, I'm not wodded with dough but definitely happy we're I am as is have a 2006 hawkeye sti with a few mods on it and all I did was put lots of hours into my work as an electrician I didn't "work harder" as most of it was spent fuckin around and having a laugh with my colleagues and getting paid for it so you don't have to work hard but just be cunning and find easier ways to make money
james mcgovern your a FUCKING electrician!
TK G yes, is there a question now or are you just trying to piss me off?
Good video advise to all the young viewers .
True, true. There is a difference between having the money for the payment, and being able to afford the vehicle. Many don't know the difference.
My friend is able to afford a 2016 fully maxed out STi at 16. He did it through earning a sponsorship from his parents. hahaha
That's how many people do it.
"I'm gonna have an STI someday.." 😂😂
I have been telling my self that for a long time!
I pay $700 per month for my 2017 sti. And $1400 for rent. I live in NYC. I'm a Private Investigator for those who wonder.
HScoper7 dude I want to do what you do. Let's link up lol
TrumpTards LMFAO invest bro in homes tho not cars or licence platest
What was your out the door price, if you don't mind me asking?
I'm only at $550 a month for my 2015 STI
Just to confirm, you're earning a teachers wage and a little on the side? And you own an STI... well done sir!
+Nathan Wright He probably makes more than what you're thinking....
A professors wage couple with a higher ed administrators wage. Probably higher than you think.
why get a new one when u can get an older gen import? they look way better than new gens imo
Well speaking in terms of the STi, this is the best STi made to date. The stiffer chassis and improves they did there make a world of difference in terms of handling.
How to afford a 35,000-40,000$ car? Get a job...
+LiquidFrost a $15 an hour job will not allow you to afford a 40k car. unless you're okay with making poor financial decisions. after taxes you got like 25k left. then you have bills and food.
LiquidFrost that's all you need is a job
lucky guy...college student in accounting looking for internship so hard!!!
Internships will be a huge help for your career.
a $40k car isn't THAT expensive. Sheesh...make sure you don't have a ton of credit card and loan debt and you should be fine.
This is a video you'll see someone with a Lambo make not a Subaru 😂 (Not hating I love Subarus)
Wisconsin pride
another tip is to not live in california or any other high cost of living states
Work? Spend less than you make? Avoid debt? Invest? Common sense?
STI's use to be the Godzilla of cars....Now they are just outdated and slow. When you have mustang GT's coming stock with 435hp these just seem weak.
People that can afford to get a STI through their rich parents spoiled them or hassling in the street or work full time for 10 years. That how I afford to get STI by saving those money from full time for 10 years.
+WRXRED2018 Subaru You must have a really shitty job.
just sling on the side
3:21 - You're welcome
:p
I will afford it...by selling my 190K mile Golf TDI back to VW (because emissions cheating) for $15K. :) Then it'll only be a $20K car to me!
I would assume because you have an even halfway decent job paying like $10 bucks an hour lol. This is a 30k car...
This is a $40,000 car.
$40,000 car with no down payment you are looking at $600/month payments. If you make $10/hr with 40 hours per week, your monthly income after tax is around $1,200/month. So if you buy a brand new sti for $40k you'll be spending half your income on car payment alone. Would not recommend!
car should be no more than half your salary and house should be no more than 3x your salary. budget accordingly.
Want a brand new STI? Find a job that pays minimum wage and work about 30 hours per week.
You must be a financial planner. 😂
+Chili Dog Your math is sort of correct , but given your budget you'd be
-- Living out of your car
-- Eating Ramen three meals a day
-- Have no retirement
-- Could never do anything but sit in your car and stare at it
-- Not have gas to put in the tank because all your cash is going towards a car payment and insurance
😂😂😂😂😂
Straighten out your finances, and then scramble your finances with a car payment. Lol.
lol this car isnt hard to obtain, you make out like its in the triple digit!
We need to send those illegal immigrant back home. We need Republican president instead of Democratic president.
+WRXRED2018 Subaru your parents are related aren't they? It's not their fault they come over here and do the jobs no one else wants to. It's not their fault that they work harder than everyone. It's not their fault that they're willing to bust their ass for mediocre pay.
if you are white then you are illegal immigrant to United States... Europe is across the big blue sea
Da fuck is this
Hahah I imagine your comment in a very high pitched Asian voice lol
Sell drugs
