I've had the Wera kompakt interchangable vde set for about 3 years.. Love them Also highly rate these from knipex, Knipex 13 86 200 VDE tested installation pliers, they are a plier, cutter, crimper and stripper in one Also use the wera star magnetiser / de magnetiser on the wera kompakt blades for screws etc
@jimmy stewart It is just easier and more multi-functional. You would not think in what situations you do need just a plain insulated stick to steer around stuff, geht stuff close to you, measure, have a ruler(!!!!) and with most of them you also have scales where you can measure angles to a very good degree. However, (I'm German) I have never seen such a thing as OP has there and I don't think that is ever used in Germany nowadays. We still use the name "meter stick" (or rather the German expression for it) but the ones we use are 2 meters long and much more sturdy, but not a lot bigger than the one he has. We use them for EVERYTHING, measure take is nowhere to be found on a German construction site =D
Woodworking folding rule was and probably still is very common place in UK amongst cabinet makers and in the days when carpenters wore bib and brace overalls there was a side pocket just for the rule, I still have my dad's rule together with his wooden block planes - a big sigh for the good old days.
Fluke Volt sticks are fine if used correctly. Use them for checking circuits are Live NOT dead!.. I use mine all the time, I have been caught out before, Can be unreliable on bunches of cable, but a sparky should know these things to look for.I also use us a Fluke T150 Tester to prove dead. Great quality instruments. Your tools are very similar to mine, I use Knipex cutters, CK cutters and tail crops, Wera Kompakt screwdriver set & Torque driver set (interchangeable too) I bought them for the very reason you say, so many screwdrivers take up too much room in my FATmax toolbag, Another useful tool is a laser tape measure, great for measuring spot light distance on ceilings, and cable run estimations. Theres loads of other really useful tools of course, the D.A.D.E (dust and debris eliminator), Hole saws, SDS chisel bits, Box cutters, lol...love me tools :-) Great video.
Artisan Electrics If you see this first of all thank you, tremendous help for a newcomer like myself, I would also suggest two more tools; *Pica pencil & Pica pen* - perfect for marking all surfaces. when you get one you’ll wonder why you didn’t get one sooner ;) BAHCO GENERAL PURPOSE KNIFE WITH AUTOMATIC BLADE RETRACTION SQZ150003 - it auto reloads when you pull out the blade. Blades stack conveniently, and when you squeeze the handle the blade pops out, if you can get you hands on one I would give it a try
I am in collage doing level 2 electrical and I am wanting to start my own business an go self employed any tips love the videos very good and educational
The problem with having nice tools is it breaks your heart when someone comes along and steals them! I think alot of site sparks have a much more raggedy selection of tools, sometimes less is more
Very Small electric screwdrivers(2), flat bits and pozi sizes , essential bit of kit, time saving undoing switches downlight screws etc wouldn't dream of doing it all by hand. Guild make is excellent £9 in Argos(if still doing them) , don't need rip-off makes , technology has improved them all from what they used to be
Jordan great video as usual I'm really surprised that the knipex installation pliers didn't make it to your top 15 mate, although again they would come I to the category of "not cheap"
Great video, like seeing what other sparks use daily. Just wondering when you are doing a video on your Fluke Multifunctional Tester? I’m in the market for a new tester so would be interested in your thoughts.
Andy Walsh ,if it’s any help i have just blown my budget on a megger mft 1741 ,great bit of kit even has a function that shows you how reliable the actual test reading for zs is ,type b rcds test too ,hope this is helpful
Daren Vita electrical yes used the Megger. Just the price, I really like it though. Thanks for the input, the more information the easier the choice will be.
Dude if you like the Bahco croppers you need to get your hands on the CK's. Ive got the 210's and 160's.... i can't remember the last time I picked up my side cutters.
Before fibreglass rods etc we used to use 'bamboo' and you could cleverly extend the length by using male / female brass connectors glued onto the ends of each length of rod. (like drain rods but much thinner) ! Magnetiser/demagnetiser for tools ! Couple of magnets useful when you are pinning a piece of info to a metal panel etc (alarm wiring or etc) Superglue OMG for hmm a lampshade where the welded joins have opened up 👆 Cable ties OH YES.. at least 4 different sizes and lengths.. Air spray for clearing dust off certain places you can't normally get to.. and blowing spiders into oblivion.. OMG the size of that spider still has me shake my head 👀 damm that was a big beggar.. Still at least we're NOT in Aussie.. hmm black widow or tarantula? My friend in California sent over a pic of her stood in the garden and just in front of her on the ground was a fuzzy tarantula.. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH... 👀😶
Please stop questioning the pronunciation of knipex every time you touch one.... in over 20 years of being in the game I’ve never heard anyone question it - who the hell would even say it as k’nipex ? Just say knipex !! Lol 👍😄👍
Try the Milwaukee fastback knife. I really like it as I only need the one hand to open and close it. Give it a little oil now and then and never failed. Also has storage for extra blades.
I have a fluke voltage stick and been using it for years. I was then told by an “electrician” that I should always be using a 2 pole tester as there are so many limitations to the voltage stick. Is this really the case? Also, when a wire is dangling out of a fitting, how are you suppose to get good contact with the probes on a 2 pole tester? Thanks for sharing all the info
I think every electrician I know must have a Fluke 1AC II VoltAlert Voltage Detector 👍
Yeah they are great!
Definitely, I have 4!🤣
Ashman Electrical Services Agreed, got one in my kit
I've had the Wera kompakt interchangable vde set for about 3 years.. Love them

had a giggle at the metre stick measuring downlights 😂

I use the Wera compact with the torque handle, I also use the Whia driver with 6 bits in the handle as it is easier at times.
Yeah me too!
I am in collage doing level 2 electrical and I am wanting to start my own business an go self employed any tips love the videos very good and educational
It's funny that so many of us navigate to the same tools and consumables Purely by choice knipex, wera, Makita, Stanley, super rod, wago, wago box
BAHCO shears are cutters pliers and knife when you open them . That two things inside are to grip on CPC and open twin & earth cable
Just purchased the wera compact driver set, excellent choice, great video again pal.
Thanks!
Great advice! Thank you.

The problem with having nice tools is it breaks your heart when someone comes along and steals them!

Yeah that’s why I don’t work on building sites! Love my tools too much

Extension bars for holesaws..? thanks for taking the time, you come across well
Jordan great video as usual I'm really surprised that the knipex installation pliers didn't make it to your top 15 mate, although again they would come I to the category of "not cheap"
Were they on the market when the video was made?
I must say the wire coat hanger is the only “tool” I can say that you can fish round corners
Useful info. Thanks Jordan.

Best knife - Milwaukee FastBack II
Thanks, will check it out
He could easily get away with acting as piers Morgans younger brother..
Please stop questioning the pronunciation of knipex every time you touch one.... in over 20 years of being in the game I’ve never heard anyone question it - who the hell would even say it as k’nipex ? Just say knipex !! Lol 👍😄👍
It’s because I’ve worked in several countries such as Netherlands and Germany where they call it k’nipex
Can u keep the more practical videos coming
Yes will do, I try to do a whole range to please all the different fans
I like this video!

most of my side cutters are great for stripping...they have blow holes in them! LOL
I bet you’re not the only one!
