I was thinking that maybe a suggested price might be helpful. I would have no idea what a fair price for quince would be for example. Also a sign saying what the profits are going for might also help. People tend to be more generous when it is for a kids project. Your neighbors are truly blessed to have this so nice and close.

Oh this looks so cute, great work with the painting and good luck with the turkeys! I get most of my veg from an honesty shop, even a raspberry plant (yay for local varieties, that one will be HARDY) and the shops little boy (he is 5) sells little flower seeds packets he collected in the garden and fold and paints the even the paper bags, it's the cutest thing I've ever seen.

An added bonus of this project is that it allows opportunities for people to try the more rare produce that is difficult to find in grocery stores. It might just inspire someone to grow it in their own yard :)

I like farmstands (and every stand, booth or table alongside the street where people sell anything). In general there aren't much of them in my region, but there are a few spots (streets, hamlets) where suddenly there's more of those.
Even more than 'pay what you can' I like 'take what you need and give what's the value to you' (sorry if this wording is not good English)

I love farm stands. We have them all over the countryside here. Best produce on PEI. You might want to put a suggested price for the produce. It helps people understand the value of what you are offering. Still have pay what you can, but a baseline helps us over thinkers.

It’s so wonderful that you are allowing people in need to take items for free. What a blessing to your community.

What a beautiful stand! The artwork and craftsmanship really make it special. As someone who ran a stand for many years, 2 tips: Check the city by-laws to make sure it's OK to have a stand (and make sure it's on your side of the property line). Put a sign in the stand that tells people the "cause" - those that can afford to may be more generous as a result.

Recipes for the produce? An idea for a meal? Tell people who is going to profit from the produce and what a suggestion of price for items? The more information you give the better... It is so sweet of you and your daughter to have the ability to connect with others in a way that is beneficial for our humanity and our creativity through kindness and caring about the opportunity for people to get fresh organic produce and fresh flowers 💐
Congratulations on your generosity and support for the community! 💚💜🤍❤💛🧡👌✌🤝🍀🌻

Love, love, love this. We have a cute little lady down the road that set one up with a few crates and a sign. She had the best tomatoes!! Her sign said free but I left her money anyway. Fantastic idea! Thank you!!🌈❤🌎✌

Your stand is beautiful, Angela! I love seeing more farmstands pop up in Portland!! I started my own honor system farmstand on our little urban homestead in the Woodstock neighborhood this past summer and sold produce and flowers. I chose to only accept e-transfers, not cash, but I had ZERO issues with theft from the stand. It was actually more common for folks to willingly pay more than my asking prices!

Love it! I love that you’re doing pay what you can! I think we need more people to show their trust in their community like this. I think it will be so supported. You could share recipes for these foods too for people who aren’t familiar with them 💗💗💗

When I lived in Islamorada, FL there was an honesty stand selling coconuts for $.25 each. Great idea. Thanks for sharing.

Keen to know if you've done a video with an update on how this went for you guys? I've just finished building our first stand, and we will paint it over the weekend before popping it out! Bit excited!

I'd love this with eggs. I eat so many eggs and I hate buying them from the store. As long as there's some kind of note saying when they were put out bc they'll go bad

This is awesome! We had a much simpler farm stand outside our property a few years ago, but we did have some problems. I think if I used some of your ideas we could try it again and be more successful.

It's such a lovely farmstand! Great design. I agree with some the other comments that some info about the future use of the proceeds would encourage your community to want to help out. Recipes are a good idea too - for someone like me who at 60 has still never even seen a quince in real life!😁

Brilliant art work! And lovely ideas for the stand! We have pallets waiting for reuse here too - our next project is a 2m square porch in front of the door to our temporary lodge home while we convert an old byre. But an honesty box for the walkers passing by our little smallholding is on our family list. I love that it’s take what you need too. Sharing food is such a precious way of connecting to others.💕

This is fantastic Angela, your daughter did an amazing job painting, my husband is a decorative artist for over 25 years, I hope you sell all the produce, if I lived close I would come all the time and get some produce, it is such a great idea for your community, have a great day Angela :)

omg this is what I needed in my life! I've literally been considering the last few days about getting a stall at the farmer's market, but that seems like such overkill for my uses, and this kind of mutual aid-style project is PERFECT for me.
Did you build from a plan? That looks fantastic. It even reminds me of the Little Free Library! If you have a plan, I'd love to see it! I've tried to build one thing from pallets, and they were in such bad shape when I tried to disassemble them, I'm assuming it must be user error.

My grandfather and father had a Worm farm and both used the Honesty system!
Out in front of the house and only once someone took worms once, I asked my grandfather, what happened, he said that he took his shotgun and found the person and they P A I D H I M.
    OF COURSE

I'm so enamored with this idea. Did you have to get any kind of business status or cottage food permission to do this?

    • @ingeleonora-denouden6222
      @ingeleonora-denouden6222 3 роки тому +1

Do you think a permission is needed? I live in a country where you need to have permissions for almost everything. But for such a 'honesty stand' we do not need a permission. As long as we sell our own produce.
