    It's easier to see the benefits of staying present when we are having anxious thoughts about the future or regretful thoughts about the past. But what if I am having excited thoughts about future or pleasant nostalgic thoughts about past? How can I motivate myself to let go of it and stay in the present? Or should I not?

      One must first of all understand the roots of it nostalgia or future anticipation are the by product of the restlessness of the mind how it cannot in anyway exist in this moment so it needs to assure it's survival in the past or future Oh I wish i could go back to my high school years I want this brand new car phone or whatever In case 1 it's impossible to go back in time and this thought carries within it a deep resistance to what is which creates further suffering and the other think of it like the donkey and the carrot you mind gives you something to do which it'll be presented as once you do that thing I'll finally be happy marry someone reach a certain number money go to a place etc... which we all know is illusory because after all the hard work and the suffering you've been through once you do achieve it you'll feel pleased not happy mind you there is a difference, for a short while then your mind will give you "The next best thing" Once this problem is seen for exactly what it is not just intellectualy but through understanding you become serious becauee if you're house is on fire you don't think maybe i'll wait for a while or I'm only wearing my pyjamas You just act.

    Is it bad to always daydream while listening to music all day long. I'm not joking I literally am in daydreaming land 24/7.

      Yes I used to the samething. It may seem at first glance that it's completely harmless but once you understand the proccess that goes behind it you'll realize how destructive it is. Why we daydream? We create some sort of fantasies according to our liking which makes us feel better but what we don't see is that daydreaming is an escape from our problems and once they're not dealt with they become more and more intense which will have a gruesome end. Let's say Jim have social anxiety when he's walking or in class or whenever he is in order to escape from his anxiety his mind creates this daydream of which he sees himself as popular or maybe wealthier than others more talented more confident it depends which further intensifies the anxiety and self loathing, now what if Jim instead of allowing his mind to wander decides to just breath in stay present and observe anxiety not in order to change it to judge it or condemn it in any way just to observe it , through that pure observation comes an understanding so anxiety will start to lose it's power of him it'll begin to weaken day after day until it's no more and Jim could finally live his life and not end it.

      @@rightcliquegod7653 oh thank you for your answer. I get what you mean, I struggle with loneliness, so I just imagine being with the type of people I like. But the problem is that I won't meet those people and it's pretty painful. In fact, because of this I lack in my studies or even social life, it's just that outside my daydream land every thing seems boring. I hope I'll be able to be more present someday.

      @@nouweb4043 At first it seemed harmless to me as well felt good to let the imagination run wild but well everything has consequences apparently lol 🤣🤣 I'd recommend reading the power of now by eckhart tolle it totally helped when I was going through darkest moment of my life. Best of luck
