  • In this video I take a look at the X-Shot Skins Pro Series Longshot, an injection molded, bullpup Nerf springer that shoots around 170fps out of the box.
    I upgraded it with parts to get it shooting just below 300fps. Includes overview, chrono test, accuracy test and gameplay!

    I actually use a modded longshot as my primary when I play with my friends and brothers. It hits around 210 fps, which is right about average for my Nerf group. My younger brother and my dad both use a lynx, which they've tuned to hit around 220ish, so mine is just about on par with their blasters. I went with a longshot because the blaster plus the parts I used to mod it totaled at $70, while just the hardware kit for a lynx is $70, but then you have to buy the plastic for the 3d printer, making it moderately more expensive. I don't mind the flimsy shell of the longshot, and I actually like the fact that it is significantly lighter than a lynx. I suppose the flaws of the blaster only become a serious issue once you get above 250 fps because mine works fine for what I use it for.

    Hey, did you take out the "stopper" spring from the inside of the plunger tube? Have you replaced it with something? (I know, don't dry fire ;)
    And OH MY WORD I was driven mad by this shooting at half speed every so often. I've disassembled and re-assembled it entirely over 20 times trying to find a flaw, leak, under-compression of the spring... and there was nothing. I came to think the barrel is kinked... apparently it only happens on red darts... - and this confirms this.

      I was genuinely surprised that Zuru even made this blaster. Despite the cheap plastic, you can see some great engineering in the design. I'd love to see the engineer who designed this given some better materials to work with and not have to have full-length compatibility. Really, for a first attempt at a "pro" blaster from Zuru, they just about nailed everything but the materials.
      Also, it's a great way for kids without much money to get started.

      @quasistellar totally agree. The design of the exterior is only surpassed by the design of the interior, which is unbelievably simple while being creative. Hey Bradley,
    While modding my XLongshot, I decided to remove all the teeth from the priming bar to get rid of the ratcheting sound.

      Ok. Thanks. Might be the O ring on the pusher is not thick enough. I'll try to pad it with Teflon tape and see if that fixes the issue.

    • @quasistellar
      @quasistellar Місяць тому

      I had the same issue (I originally removed the ratcheting mechanism but left the priming bar alone). If you check the priming bar, there's one tooth that locks it in the forward position. Take your blaster apart and go through a prime motion and see which tooth that is. Just shave all but that one tooth. That gets rid of the clunky ratcheting but still locks the breech closed after priming. Too late for you, I know, but in case other see this I thought I'd mention it.

    I love the xsls. It doesn't need the metal pusher unless you want to never worry about it breaking. I got one to consistently hit 250 fps with a 14kg spring and a pvc spacer. I destroyed the pusher when the part that pushes the dart into the barrel got mangled in the barrel when I dryfired it. Without the metal pusher, the cost to hit 250 is less than $100. To me, that makes it the best springer for the price.

      @peterlee6304 and, no it won't. The nexus pro x is already $50+taxes. That's $55 right there. To get the high powered spring you have to buy the set with the low powered spring. That's another $10+taxes. That's almost $70. The XSLS, upgraded with a metal tube, barrel, spring upgrade, and a $10 scar barrel, is around $80. A $10 difference isn't enough to justify saying the nexus pro x is better when it's internals will eventually break because they are mostly plastic.

    i wish i had as good of an experience with worker darts as everyone else. in my opinion even the newest release with upgraded glue is still horrible for durability i dont have the money to replace worker darts every time i fire one. the heads blow off them in one single shot. dart zone red tipped bamboos and blue tipped bamboos are the best most durable longest lasting dart money can buy

      I use about 200 Worker HE darts per video, one video per week. From my observations I have not had any decaps unless I'm point blank firing into something hard, and at that point it's the foam itself that rips in half, not the glue on the tip.
      I do mostly use 13mm ID barrels though, are you by any chance using something tighter like brass?

  • @captainkrumel4590

    I think the comparison is a little off. If you buy the blaster for 35$ a new plungertube for 10$ new barrel for 16$ a worker rifled muzzle 10$ a upgrade spring for 7$ and modify the frontend for longer barrel insted of buing the 3d print you get a 300fps blaster for you get a blaster for under 80$. The worker offerings are more stable platforms but for people on a tight buget it is a good option in my opinion.

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  5 місяців тому

      I guess it depends on your budget. For a 300fps blaster I would consider the Worker Harrier quite affordable and the ideal entry level blaster. Choosing this instead you are definitely getting a worse blaster in multiple ways and may end up even going through multiple of them as parts break since it isn't designed for 300fps. For a sub-200fps blaster, yes this is a very good choice.

    Despite the price point, I don't think I'd ever personally run one. It's a good recommendation for people getting into modding on a budget, but I've still found myself holding my own against this at 230+fps with my 150fps Longstrike that has a much sturdier shell and a good mass to it. and the people who have them seem to have a number of issues.
    Though my bias to an awful blaster aside, I hate slamfire so that's an immediate no. That flex... is just too much no for my taste. It certainly brings a question of durability too. I'd imagine this being more of a stopgap for people until they can get a Harrier, Lynx or Caliburn variant.

  • @CRaZzSHarP
    @CRaZzSHarP 5 місяців тому

    Why do you keep calling the Dart pusher a priming bar? Theres actually no force pushing on that part during priming from the spring. After a shot is the only time the spring is putting any kind of force on it and its actually holding it forward into the dart gate. keep that pusher O ring lubed and theres no issues. That saber pusher is super unnecessary in my opinion as well as the metal catch. Metal on plastic is a bad idea.
    I was able to achieve an 303 FPS average over 1000 recorded shots on the stock PT, 45 cm barrel and sealed printed scar. After going to the silver fox Plunger, I havent been able to achieve the same average, more like a 290 FPS average now.

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  5 місяців тому

      It is called a prime bar on Sabre's website despite it not being one. I assumed that was what it was.
      As for the merits of using it, multiple comments have said the stock turnaround, bar and pusher break eventually with upgraded internals. While they aren't load bearing during priming, they still seem to break from the force of firing.
      Definitely a part you could postpone getting until that happens though.
