At 1:26, there’s a little boy off to himself on the left side of the screen sitting down. He’s rocking back and forth. This is our son. We adopted him 2 months ago. 😊❤️🇺🇦
They were 5.5 years old & 7.5 years old when we adopted them from an ADULT institution! Today is actually the day 8 years ago that we met them. We were in Ukraine for 2 months.
Sasha was adopted by an American couple and is virtually unrecognizable now. Happy ,well fed and is having speech therapy and learning to talk. One happy ending at least.
I'd love to his progress after all this sadness..any link? This is just..no words for it..I wish I could save them all and I commend Nicolai for such a great heart and passion...
I,am so glad to read this , what a teribble situation they can be operated or be well in there health for those children my heart is crying 😭 I want to do something about this
That child with no limbs is an absolute super hero, flipping around, and doing everything on his own....faster than most people walk! I am amazed by him
I agree, do you wonder how he is now? My brother was born with Muscular Dystrophy and died as one of the 5 oldest man in America. Many never see their 20s and he made 54 Rip brother. Id take care of a disabled child as they need love and care too.
Why do they make it so difficult and expensive to adopt children?! I would love any one of these children. I lost my fertility at 26 and never got to have a baby because of cancer. I pray one day I will be a mother and give a child all the love in my heart.
It’s people like you that; SHOULD certainly be able to adopt. Generally speaking, if one is single: it’s even harder to adopt. They usually take favour over married couples…………. All the red tape one has to go through/ also the expense , just as you mentioned is completely unacceptable. These poor kids have to suffer: not having the proper loving and nurturing that they so desperately need and deserve. Makes any heart ache for them. 😥😥😥😥
Unfortunately it's because there are many sick folks that would abuse the system if it were lenient and in turn, abuse and mistreat the adopted children, it's so easy to do that to a child that has never known love.
Agree. They should be making sure the kids aren't being adopted by pedophiles or abusive people (i.e. check their criminal background) other than that they need to make it easy to adopt. Here in America we are filthy rich compared to the rest of the planet, there are many here who would adopt if there weren't so many restrictions and so expensive. Like the age limit is ridiculous, alot of people finally have the financial means when they're in their 40s and the maturity to make good decisions. How can having older parents be worse than an orphanage that can barely hang on and almost zero healthcare?
Cheyla I wish you all the best and hope you achieve this one day soon . These children should be given up for adoption free of charge and be given to loving people who can take good care of them and improve their quality of life by surrounding them with love and support ❤️
He cares and he is trying to get the best resources for all the children in his care. He may not be hands on but he is constantly thinking of the children’s best interests.
Imagine what a little love could do for these children, a cuddle a little affection, kind words could start a wave of healing in itself. My heart is breaking as a human, as a woman and as a mother.
We don’t need to imagine. Oksana Masters was adopted from one of these poorly run Ukrainian care homes. Her parents encouraged her to pursue adaptive sports as a way to deal with the anger and trauma from her time in the care home. She’s one of the most decorated Paralympic athletes ever, has medals in 4 different sports, and hasn’t missed the Paralympics since 2012 (winter or summer). Obviously not every disabled child with the opportunity to do sports will become a paralympian, but the difference between her life in Ukraine and her life in the USA shows what’s possible
*Nickoli(The Manager) is such a good guy, you can tell he's so frustrated with the government's treatment of these beautiful children and can't help them beyond his capacities....May God Bless him and the staff who care for these beautiful children who I pray are doing better in 2020.*
Praying and action. Is there a way to ship supplies to these orphanages? I wish the producers of this documentary could go back for a follow up investigation and provide information on how it's possible to offer help.
@@annie68164 It's awful but for some of these cases, even top medical professionals would only slightly prolong their lives and make it somewhat comfortable for their remaining time. Prolonging life like that isn't enjoyable for anyone, even the kid. They deserve to live but its impossible. The little boy with no feet and hands for example could most definitely be rehabilitated and helped, and with good medical care could even get prosthetics etc. but some of those in there are beyond repair, and we should be looking to the fact that a lot of these are probably caused by drink/drugs/miscare during pregnancy, if the mother cant take care of herself the little baby will never grow or will be deformed with severe health problems. Should be restrictions on who can have birth really, crazy as it sounds.
@@kionamcnutt8630 Kids are sponges. They understand more than you'd ever realize. A free ticket to Heaven isn't going to cure a lifetime of suffering and being mistreated. They deserve help while they're alive, not only once they're dead.
@@susanazarhov1985 people understand a lot though. For example I work on a Dementia Unit. One of the other workers said something that upset me and before I even could think to make sure i didn't have an expression of disgust a resident came to me and said "Do you want to yell and scream?" I said "oh no, of course not. Im fine." She had no idea what the other person said to me. She just saw the look in my eyes - as my face was covered of course. and she was trying to ask if i was upset. She is not high functioning and even she picked up on my distress at a comment.
My heart goes out to these children and their caretakers especially now in this time of war. I cant imagine the additional amount of stress and trauma they all must be going through. God get them through this...
@@meeeka RT had done several documentaries on these places and it put them on the map as a point of contention. One of Patrick Lancaster’s videos from 3-4 years ago, while he was preparing to rebuild a kindergarten in Donbass, bombed by the filthy Asovs..(you know, the “brave Ukrainian troops” our media and politicians are fawning over)-he was talking to parents, a couple who had disabled young children. They were actually grateful the Govt in Kiev had cut ALL funding to things like schools, hospitals, care homes, etc. They said they had all become places of horror and the Govt had been forcing the children to work in the coal mines instead of school. One mom said they preferred to come together to raise, teach and treat their children. Russia sent help when they could & MSF was eventually able to bring enough doctors in to re-open the hospital…at least until it became one of Asov’s primary targets again last month. What shocks me more than anything is we have HUNDREDS of documentaries about the corruption, barbarity and blatant abuse of Ukraines Govts these past 8 years; documentaries on the genocide of over 14,000 people in Eastern Ukraine, all at the hands of the proudly self-proclaimed NAZIS who see Eastern Ukrainians and Russians as “cockroaches unworthy of life”. Politicians in Ukraine, notably NOT the ones banned and booted last week, have speeches on UA-cam bragging how they won’t allow a penny of Aid money to go to the “lazy cockroaches” in Eastern Ukraine. But guess what? Although, at the moment, these videos and documentaries are still on UA-cam-mention them, and you are attacked for spreading Russian propaganda. Nazis? Well yea, they filled Ukraines military during a BBC documentary last year-NOW? They don’t exist and if you say otherwise, you love Putin. I feel so sickened for these children because with a Govt who thinks of them as less than human? And I can promise the billions being pumped in for aid for the people..will NEVER make it to the children who need it most.
You know what I'd love? For adoption to not cost $30-40k. Thousands and thousands of these beautiful kids would have a home with at least one loving parent 💜
I looked into it when I was looking into leaving my husband. As a single, under 30 single female, it was so expensive, even for a single upper middle class household, not to mention all the other countries that refuse your adoption based on your single status, regardless of being able to care for the child.
Cassandra Messing If you’re still interested in adoption and you’re living in the US, adopting children from the foster system is actually either free or *extremely* cheap (next to nothing). International and private adoption is where things get *very* expensive, which I think is just awful. No child should have that high of a price tag in order for them to be rescued from horrific orphanages where even their basic needs aren’t being met on a regular basis. I have never understood why the price tag is so high, in addition to why so many countries are overly picky on what prospective parents they allow to adopt children who are in that country’s care, especially when those children are costing that country money that they seem to not want to spend. Some refuse to allow single parents, have restrictions on age, how many children someone already has/ the ages of their children, and even more ridiculous qualifications that need to be met, none of which really measure someone’s ability to provide a child with a loving home where they will be cared for. It’s so sad, because so many people would love nothing more than to give these kids a loving home, but instead these children remain forgotten and abused. It truly breaks my heart.
I am glad to be adopted. I was adopted from Russia around age 1 and was in a hospital and then moved to an orphanage until I was adopted. I am very lucky, because many others are not. I love my parents and they have given me freedom. I don't know where or what I would be doing if they hadn't adopted me. There are some good people in the world. I am glad to be adopted.
So happy for you that you get adapted, I don't know what circumstances was around your birth but because you were in the hospital for some time, so that possible that doctors simple sad to the young parents that you may not survive and yes that sounds horrible but I know when people on TV ( I love watching these stories and make Facebook group "Adapted from the former Soviet Union") are connected that lack of information and miscommunication are usual situation.
I’m sure when he went to court to have his incapacitation revoked the judge was extremely surprised. It should’ve made them wonder how many others were rendered incapacitated who weren’t
Him growing vegetables to keep his mother & grandmother healthy is so lovely & extraordinary. I wanna show that to my son to show him what a good man looks like!
I'm a nurse studying for my PhD. I will pack a bag and fly down there in 3 weeks(if they will take me...an email is being sent this evening) and offer my assistance and care for free for a minimum 6 weeks.
How heartbreaking is Boris and Misha???!!! I love how ambitious and diligent Boris is, studying etiquette and always dressed so nicely. The way they encourage each other and also make sure to run over to assist that elderly man who fell with his bike. They are special and I know that I will never forget Boris.
Good news! According to Maya's Hope Foundation social media Sergey has been adopted by an American family and Lyosha now has prosthetic legs and is in the US as well! God Bless!
Rachel omg thank you for the update! This was heartbreaking and painful to watch but I'm so glad to hear there has been some positive progress for them! 💜
I am seeing this documentary for the first time by accident. It is very touching to watch I pray that Nicholi gets more financial & medical support to continue the great job he is doing. May the creator bless the children & the entire staff.🙏❤✌🌍
@@taigeorges1178 Not all Americans live luxury lifestyles, the reality is not what Hollywood shows you. There are homeless, there are people struggling with addictions. There are ghettos, a lot of child suffering in the States as well.
Boris is so deeply intelligent and sophisticated. I don’t understand. So many of these young people are capable. they all, all of them, deserve better.
Boris is amazing. Not only should he be released from incapacitation, he would be wonderful asset to a real transformation to the system there. With his perspective having been raised in the system and his clear ideas about being productive, health and learning skills to live with others and community, he has so much to offer.
It makes me sick to think that I've got any complaints of my own, when in reality I'm living in a fairytale compared to these poor souls. I pray that God will bless these beautiful people, and that He will forgive me for being selfish and ungrateful.
I wld easily adopt from here ,but u have 2 have a lot of $& I,dont have.I wld love to if they wld allow a boy or girl to come stay with me in the states even with not having a lot of $ .Id still Love a child
I really like that that one guy wore a suit for his interview. It was obviously very important to him and he was very proud of his accomplishments. It blows my mind that he was once labeled "unaware of his surroundings"
The ladies at the end that were crying seeing the video update of the little ones that was adopted is definitely a reflection of the love they have for these children.
This hits hard. I was born in Ukraine and actually adopted by a family in Barcelona, Spain. I was only 2 years old when this happened, but I was extremely lucky of the family I had been raised. This is a huge problem in Ukraine, hope sometime soon it's been taken more care of.
Putin is now taking care of this and all other problems in Ukraine. God really has a sense of humor. Fire and death rain on Ukraine as punishment for their sins. May it serve as an example fot all of us.
I'm very sorry about everything happening there and it breaks my heart to know right now is an even more strenuous time for these people with the heartless actions currently happening in the Ukraine 3/20/2022 it's hard to see the people who are overlooked and forgotten about who matter more than anything I truly wish there was something I could do to help
I'm in the medical field, not in Ukraine but in another country where there's an epidemic of parents signing their babies, especially disabled ones, over to the state. Somehow of all the things I've seen, this has consistently been one of the hardest things to deal with. I would look at those babies looking so innocent and happy and just feel immense guilt over what's going to happen to them. I would always try to pick them up and play with them even for a little bit because maybe nobody else will. I'm not justifying the actions of the doctors in the video, they were 1000% wrong to not take any responsibility for the ill kids whatsoever. But it's easy to just lose your humanity when society is structured this way.
Boris sounds so beautifully intelligent - his quote about “if smart people can become fools then fools can become smart people” really spoke to me - bless him. I see zero wrong with him - actually I see him as a better human being than most. What a fantastic individual he works harder than anyone I know and that’s beautiful - and to have such a fantastic friendship with Misha. What amazing men
This is completely heartbreaking.... I am a paediatric nurse who works with disabled children... I would love to be able to work and help out these children.
May some day you could take a trip there and give the nurses some tips? They probably are overworked and don’t have the right education for how to improve the situation.?
I am a CNA at the hospital/children’s hospital in the float pool in my town… It was very disheartening to hear them talking about the fact that no one would ever go to work there. PEDs is my favorite, and once I graduate I will be working hard towards that. Somewhere like this would be one of the places I would aim to work at
Maybe you can get other nurses and doctors together to do some kind of campaign that would allow you to fly over there and help out and teach others what to do God bless you for what you do
Our kids need help do you bother to help your own people for free NO.as you get big wages diong it in Britain yet here your stating I would hapily go and help?????? 🇬🇧
Boris put on a suit and tie just for them, showed great manner and charisma and had so much pride in growing his vegetables to keep his family fed and healthy. He said; "You can create a fool from a smart guy and you can also create a smart guy from a fool". He is the best example of an upstanding citizen whose system ostracised him.
All of the "incapacitated" lads articulate and carry themselves better than half the people on the streets despite the horrific things they went through. Boris in particular has such a beautiful way of speaking, he could probably publish a book about his life.
Denis is not even close to mentally incapacitated. He is fully capable of living a full life and do everything everyone else can do. This whole documentary is heartbreaking. As many here have commented, none of the kids are mentally stimulated enough to develop more. No stimuli just existing. Its sad.
correct, somebody needs to get that boy or men about there. I hope this site is not a phony from Ukraine to get people to pay $$ to their institution or publicity
There are mentally disabled and physically disabled children in this orphanage that we're not given up at Birth. German Many were giving up by their parents as old as 10 years old. So many don't have that stimulation from birth and people don't realize it's a major factor when a child it's growing.
Bless that woman who "adopted" Boris. What a wonderful thing to do. He seems to really love his new mum and grandmum and really appreciates what they've done for him. Those women saved his life.
Tammy Hauck yes. That’s what I believe. All forms of loving stimulation and learning MISSING. The children are being driven crazy with boredom 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Indeed, the magic of human touch itself is so powerful, I have seen other videos on UA-cam where similar children are literally handcuffed to the bed, glad it wasnt seen in this video.
I kind of felt emotional when all the boys where moving to the school, especially with Lyosha. They've been living there whole life with the caretakers and it was sad to see them say goodbye. I'm glad they'll finally be able to learn things.
Misha and Boris are so lucky to have each other and it is heart warming to see them trying to help others even after all they have gone thru themselves. They are two very brave, wonderfully hearted and kind souls.
I was adopted from Kazakhstan when I was a child. Seeing this documentary makes my heart break, but I’m glad to see that people are being made aware of these kinds of conditions which so many children unfortunately face as their reality.
@@skylarr2729 maybe if they did accept "single" parents they wouldn't have as many children in these institutions and orphanages. Love from one is better than love from none.
Boris is he philosopher... so eloquent, smart, and pleasure to listen to... I hope he can read my comment! What a gentleman! I bet his friend is very much like him!!!!!
The director truly sounds like he does everything he can to help these kids and adults have a good life. It’s nice to seeing a caring director, not a neglectful one!!
There is much love in this video. I am a nurse in USA, there are plenty of children like this here too.... I have cared for them. The elderly are an interesting group too here in USA. The elderly work all their lives, only to have their homes taken to pay for care if they get on Medicaid, and their families will lose all.
Yes exactly! I think its MORE shameful here America is the RICHEST country in the world , We have BY FAR the worst healthcare and eldercare system among developed countries . Half a million Americans go broke and or lose their homes every year .The price of Healthcare here IS that bad . Even if you have insurance ....
@@sarahtiferet9025 but Americans keep voting for that system. They don't want universal health care or single payer system, like other wealthy, civilized & sane countries with better health outcomes & life expectancy b/c of it. They'd rather pay $15000 for an ER visit & $7000 for dental care & $1200 for a single MRI & $4000 for a 5 mile ambulance ride. It's maddening how moronic many Americans are continuing to vote against their own interests & the best interests of all Americans by continuing to vote for a For-Profit capitalism health system that screws them over their entire lives & takes their income & homes to pay for that care & system. I will never understand the dedication to insanity. The fact Americans are actually dumb enough to literally want a for-profit healthcare system & want a hospital stay to cost $400,000 instead of vote for a system that makes that obsolete & affordable for all, is mind blowing. No other civilized, wealthy, sane country's residents have to worry about losing their home for an ER visit or for a root canal. Only in America can ignorance thrive to such an epic illogical degree that individuals choose this draconian system on purpose for identity politics, over voting for their own best interest & interests of a whole better, healthier society. #FreeDumb thrives & drains Americans bank accounts b/c they vote to bankrupt themselves & enable the for-profit system and the wealthy & corporations instead. Lunacy on steroids it is. Many Americans are only interested in pretending they're pro-life & pro-life to them ends at womb, not through to the tomb.
That IQ testing was beyond ridiculous. They are assessing their ability to learn with questions about things they have never been taught! Even the "how old are you" question in unfair- how would they know that? No one recognizes their birthdays at the orphanage
I do believe that was the point the journalists were making. the test was idiotic. all children should be attending school from age 5 to age 18, no matter where they start from. you never know. blessings for the people helping these precious children. blessings for those who adopt them
The thing is, the kids were allowed to go on and attend the school--I think even the one who didn't know how old he was...thankfully, they were given a chance to learn
that child without legs is smart. Another one need one operation. Some of them need reabilitation. Only few are .... in very bad conditions. Nobody wants tp help them.
The fact that kids who are only just slightly delayed are labeled as basically living dead there is a testament to how ignorant their government truly is. Boris seemed very educated and capable yet he is labeled as an invalid.
This is so sad, and very difficult to watch. My husband and I adopted a sibling group of 3 older children from an orphanage in Poland. Open your heart to adoption - these children need families!
It is so expensive. Middle class can afford to adopt. I have a big beautiful home and would love to adopt a family of children. Heartbreaking that I cant.
Tea Lili If you’re interested in adoption and you’re living in the US, adopting children from the foster system is actually free or *extremely* cheap (next to nothing). Boris has stolen my heart. He's awesome. Smart, intelligent, willing to learn. Look at his costume, his stylish hairdo and mustache. How many well-socialized people, people who work and have money, look after themselves like that? Not too many I'm afraid.
This is old, but in case anyone is still watching... You NEED to be careful about the way you talk about these children, or adults, in front of them. Always assume that they can understand you and speak to and of them with respect. Imagine how harmful it would be if they could understand you saying something like “she smells like rotten skin”. You don’t know what goes on inside a persons head, so always be kind.
At minute 10:41 it killed me that they even let that bug crawl on the poor child knowing she’s can’t protect herself from bugs . Should I not even be surprised? Speechless.
you got to have some understanding for some of these workers... they work in state institutions that are not funded nearly enough, have no proper care, no professional staff, education, specialized tools, in a state that has very little rights and reforms for the children with mental and phyical illness. they bunch up unwanted disabled children together, no matter if it's a mental disability, mild autism, or just a physical disability. so of course they're in a way hopeless. they know the state will never provide what is needed for them and the carers do just bare minimum. I work in an educational institution for such children. and it is very expensive and slow work to see any process in their mental development. took me two years to teach one child to wash his hands. one kid, two years! and I am teacher to just two of them! if a professional is lucky, they are able to teach 4 of them (mild mental disability) but usually it's only two children per educator. we also have assisstants that help us if children become too rowdy, other half of the building is their hospital with neurologists, speech therapists, and everythng in between. the problem is rooted in the government, not the people who are just doing their job at these places.
My heart breaks into a million pieces. So sad that parents give up on their kids. I cried so much throughout this documentary. They are so innocent and helpless
If they just had someone to hold them hug them and aside from that for many with mobility issues give them some basic physical therapy. It wouldn’t fix the larger problem of they systematic institutionalizing with inadequate staffing but could help so much. They deserve an education as well. Many of them could learn and benefit. Even dogs in the pound get a walk every day. Universal Aid For Children help these orphans, not just with adoption but improving conditions. It’s a way to help. I traveled to untrained and volunteered through them. The kids are so happy to have visitors!
My thoughts precisely! Cld see she was stressing at their conversation which was very negative... sad - no practising of HIPPOCRATIC OATH from these 'medics' ... sad... sad.... sad....
Thats because that's what they actually do believe...I knew of a baby girl in that orphanage who had her leg and arm amputated without anaesthetic because the doctor said babies dont feel pain...and when she screamed he said it was because she was cold 😡
It made me terribly sad 😢 I wanted to say stop talking next her This is a little child/girl she has feelings and they are traumatizing her (she started moaning and closed her eyes : it's a sign of crying)
How can they call themselves doctors, just standing there passing the responsibility to others??? And an empty hospital with no staff and a bunch of very sick kids?? Disgusting and inhumane
Michaela Friedman This kind of expose should be free. Just another group profiting off another’s vulnerability. Glad you think this ok you sad piece of humanity.
Michaela Friedman I don’t think he/she is complaining about the ads.. I think they’re just stating - the same thing that I’m hoping - and THATS that WITH so many ads the money made SHOULD REALLY go to helping these kids. THEY NEED it. Need.
Watching the UA-cam channel Special Books by Special Kids has taught me that lots of disabled children can still have great quality of life with love , attention and medical care.
I feel so bad for Dennis. My uncle has CP. He was born in 1949, when my grandparents could easily have sent him to an institution, were encouraged to do so. Even though they were young and had little money, my grandparents decided to keep him. My uncle is easily the smartest person I know. He went to MIT (on scholarship)and now designs prosthetics to help other disabled people.

Niccoli is an absolute saint, and the staff appears to truly care about those children and love them. 💕 The little boy with no limbs is the sweetest most precious angel. That group should not have been arguing in front of that baby girl in the hospital. How upsetting for her. Poor baby. 😭 The boy that likes technology stuff…he seems to be out of place there. 🥺 how sad. The two men being held against their will is awful. I haven’t finished the documentary, but I hope they let them become emancipated. Boris is so happy now!!!
the way Nastya (the girl with the cyst on her head) would clutch on to anyone who touched her just melts my heart and at 1:20:12 when she tries to reach out for the camera with her cute little hand, oh my.
Oh my gosh i know! The way she clutched onto the host lady's hand and then kept holding her hand out after she left just shattered my heart. She just wants love and attention :( 💔 not only that but her condition is treatable with surgery!...too bad where they are the hospitals and doctors are useless!

@@tildehagensen5933 Yes. A doctor said in the video, the real problem are parents drinking alcohol and taking drugs. So they can't or don' t take care even of their own selfs. And I add, some of this sort of addicts all over the world reproduce always new affected kids, if they don't care about taking steps for contraception. They don't love anything any more but their drugs. It's awful. So never start such stuff, you have a prophet who told you already to stay away from this narcotics. In easy and in difficult times, keep yourself in a position to stay responsible. Narcotics ruin lives and egoism, too. We are called to be social beings who help each other.
after all that horror what made me sob was when the grown men who were under guardianship of the mother and grandmother ran to help the man who fell off his bike. So much kindness and compassion when they , themselves, were starved of it.
CuteNCozy1 that was EXACTLY my thought! You’re so right. I ugly-cried at that part. Those men were deprived of the utter necessity of love and empathy, yet managed to display it without a second thought.
theresa hartless no offense but many people believe in multiple gods so there is not only one! Also many people are atheists and they can believe that those people are gods! I'm egoistic meaning I do not believe but I hope.
They need to be loved, caressed and held as much as they need medical care. Touch is so crucial for child development. I want to shout "somebody pick them up and hold them!"
That's actually something that is being incorporated into the care of children and adults with a variety of disabilities! It's called therapeutic touch and it works absolute wonders! I'm screaming the same thing at my phone watching these poor children.
@@missmae7996 exactly. They have so many things in place for severely disabled people in my country. Special rooms with soothing lights, sounds and fabric for when they’re just by themselves. And.. there’s even specialised SW for disabled people.
I'd read an article years ago in a parenting magazine that talked about the issues that ensue from these kids not being held and spoken to lovingly like a parent would. Sometimes the people who adopt them can't handle the effects of it. People NEED love to thrive.
The family who adopted Sasha are angels 😭💖💗🌟 I cried so much during this documentary. I wish all the children could be adopted. Thank you so much to the people who filmed this. You are amazing to bring awareness to this.
This breaks my heart! They deserve more help. My heart goes out to them and their loving caring staff! I pray they are not forgotten during this difficult time of war and they get more help soon! 🥰 May God be with you all!
Is there a way training med students could have internships here? I think that would help both sides and possibly get more recognition from the states and Europe to help.
I think if you looked up department heads at medical schools, they could answer that question, or tell you who to contact. They often have email addresses listed on their department's website. You might have the best chance of getting a reply if you look for someone with a Russian name.
Alicia Marie They don't follow actual medical protocol.... they would be learning how to give dangerous injections basically they would become part of the problem sadly :(
Having worked with learning disabled adults here in the UK I found it appalling to see how they are treated in the Ukraine. What a disgusting system. Those poor people literally written off. How fortunate that in this country, people with learning disabilities have rights and they are encouraged and supported to live in adapted housing with staff around the clock. I wonder how things have changed since this film was made and what happens now with the war raging there. I have cried throughout this film. It is shocking and heartbreaking to see so many children and young adults suffering this injustice. Bless all of them and also the staff who do what they can with limited funds and regimes.
This makes me furious! So many irresponsible humans drinking, smoking, doing drugs during pregnancy. Nothing short of a miracle that these children even survived the birth. Absolutely heartbreaking. No child deserves this kind of life.
Yes that is obviously not ideal prenatal conditions however...What's wrong with these children was NOT caused by alcohol/drug abuse, these are primarily neural tube defects among some others of which the Ukraine has an abnormally high incidence of compared with the global average occurrence. Due to multiple causality but alcoholism and substance use is not one of them
@@jordanalandry1866 Alcohol is an indirect cause of it. Alcoholism and other substance abuse has been very high in Ukraine since the fall of Soviet Union and the economical collapse. While those substances are not a direct cause for the problems of all of those children, they go hand in hand with neglect of daily necessities in life and personal care. You have people who like to drink after their meal, but these people drink instead of their meal. An at least a bit healthy diet should give reasonable folate levels even without adding extra fortified products.
@@burly636 you don't understand the standard of living in some areas of Ukraine, some people struggle to buy food, meanwhile such kids require enormous amounts of money for healthcare during lifetime. Their parents or sometimes even young single mom simply can't take care of them. Slightly wealthier people keep the kids but then for their entire life are asking for donations, you can't imagine how many ads are there on TV and social media asking for help. It's easy to discuss when you live in number 1 economy in the world but if you knew that people in one month get as much money as your phone bill you would not be so harsh in judgement.
You misunderstood what he was saying, he was angry that they choose to drink or do drugs and then throw away the children like they don’t matter. Sorry but YES, I’m judging! If you have money for alcohol or drugs and you have money for food!! That’s a choice these people make! There’s plenty of people from very poor places and they CHOOSE to NOT be alcoholics or drug addicts.

My daughter has disabilities, as well as a feeding tube herself- I agree that several of these poor kids need a gtube. At least they wouldn’t be hungry.
Our-Kids is a great support for the parents of disabled children. They had an email group but now they are mostly a facebook group. They really helped me during my child's childhood. Even though she is an adult, I still sometimes go to our-kids for support.

We don’t need to imagine. Oksana Masters was adopted from one of these poorly run Ukrainian care homes. Her parents encouraged her to pursue adaptive sports as a way to deal with the anger and trauma from her time in the care home.

Yesterday there was a headline that Russia has taken 2000 orphaned Ukrainian children away to Russia.
They're either going to get bombed or vaxxed into the afterlife

EXACTLY
Tammy Hauck yes. That’s what I believe. All forms of loving stimulation and learning MISSING. The children are being driven crazy with boredom 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

Yes.
I kind of felt emotional when all the boys where moving to the school, especially with Lyosha. They've been living there whole life with the caretakers and it was sad to see them say goodbye. I'm glad they'll finally be able to learn things.
I was sad for Katia she lost her best friend 😢
Misha and Boris are so lucky to have each other and it is heart warming to see them trying to help others even after all they have gone thru themselves. They are two very brave, wonderfully hearted and kind souls.
I was adopted from Kazakhstan when I was a child. Seeing this documentary makes my heart break, but I’m glad to see that people are being made aware of these kinds of conditions which so many children unfortunately face as their reality.

The director truly sounds like he does everything he can to help these kids and adults have a good life. It’s nice to seeing a caring director, not a neglectful one!!
He is , but the government does not support enough. We have same problem here in Bulgaria
@Sutty Don't be so sure . Britain's social service has huge issues.
Rachel Lyons I was thinking the same thing. How can they even think that’s fair when they haven’t been taught?!
That was a very intuitive observation from you. I wasn't even thinking of this 😔
The fact that kids who are only just slightly delayed are labeled as basically living dead there is a testament to how ignorant their government truly is. Boris seemed very educated and capable yet he is labeled as an invalid.
This is so sad, and very difficult to watch. My husband and I adopted a sibling group of 3 older children from an orphanage in Poland. Open your heart to adoption - these children need families!
@@_mokosh_ ?What???
We would if we could afford to do so.
Many people are unaware of this, and it is not public knowledge to the extent that it should be. International and private adoption is where things get *very* expensive, which I also think is just awful.
Mokosh, this is a joke, right?
It's scary to think about what has happened to these children now with the war..
Boris has stolen my heart. He's awesome. Smart, intelligent, willing to learn. Look at his costume, his stylish hairdo and mustache. How many well-socialized people, people who work and have money, look after themselves like that? Not too many I'm afraid.
Misha's smile....
He and Misha made me smile
He must have a really strong sense of deficiency.
Speechless.
Ikr like freakin shoo that damn fly away from her! Ugh poor babies

I was like, "Somebody get that fly!"
I was thinking the exact same thing.
you got to have some understanding for some of these workers... they work in state institutions that are not funded nearly enough, have no proper care, no professional staff, education, specialized tools, in a state that has very little rights and reforms for the children with mental and phyical illness. they bunch up unwanted disabled children together, no matter if it's a mental disability, mild autism, or just a physical disability. so of course they're in a way hopeless. they know the state will never provide what is needed for them and the carers do just bare minimum.
I wonder if they are still alive & safe...

Horrible 😢
If they just had someone to hold them hug them and aside from that for many with mobility issues give them some basic physical therapy. It wouldn’t fix the larger problem of they systematic institutionalizing with inadequate staffing but could help so much. They deserve an education as well. Many of them could learn and benefit. Even dogs in the pound get a walk every day. Universal Aid For Children help these orphans, not just with adoption but improving conditions. It’s a way to help. I traveled to untrained and volunteered through them. The kids are so happy to have visitors!

Why are these doctors speaking so loud in the same room as the affected child? They act like she can't hear them or isn't there.
I was just thinking that myself. Seems like they did not take the Hippocratic oath of do no harm.
I caught all of that cruelty!
It made me terribly sad 😢

Then throw them away as insignificant animals. Infuriating
@@burly636 you don't understand the standard of living in some areas of Ukraine, some people struggle to buy food, meanwhile such kids require enormous amounts of money for healthcare during lifetime. Their parents or sometimes even young single mom simply can't take care of them. You misunderstood what he was saying, he was angry that they choose to drink or do drugs and then throw away the children like they don’t matter. Sorry but YES, I’m judging!
