Cool video, my nephew and I picked up a similar golf cart a few months ago. He looked at replacing the 6 volt batteries and even a set of used ones were like $800. I tested the motor with my 40 volt Green Works battery, it works, but I accidentally shorted my battery for a split second and now it doesn't register on the charger or the mower it goes to. I put a meter on it and it shows voltage, do you know if there is some sort of internal fuse or breaker? I opened it up and didn't see anything obvious and have done some research online, I can't find anything to answer my question.
Also your daughter has gotten so big, when I started watching your channel, your wife was pregnant with her. Boy how time flies.
I know very little about those greenworks batteries, but I believe they do have some internal circuitry to prevent a fire/explosion in the event of a short circuit. I am not sure how to repair them, though. Oh wow, that has been a while. That was over 6 years ago now

I believe the current is negative, while it's running, to indicate you are removing power from the batteries. During charging, it would show positive amps.
I think you are correct. It seemed counterintuitive to me at first. I thought it would show power consumption from the motor but instead it shows the power drain from the battery.
AZ Expert also did the same upgrade on his moms golf cart

Yeah he did an excellent job on his project granted it was in better shape but the reality is they're almost exactly the same project sans different models

I don't understand why the golf cart specific battery packs are so expensive. Vatrer lists the model 48 volt model I'd need for $1685. I just purchased the equivilant capacity as 4 individual 12 Volt 100 AH units for only $560 including tax and shipping, on Ebay. It doesn't make any sense that the "golf cart" container is worth an extra $1000. What's the deal with that?
I actually talked to a couple different battery manufacturers about that and the reason I got was that the 12v cannot handle the spikes in discharge that the larger battery can. They said it was specific to golf carts. I didn't think there was anything too special about a golf cart controller and motor and it seems like its easier on the battery than a vehicle starter, but I am not an electrical engineer.

It was taking too much time to post there and I was still sad about my lost footage. I posted my chicken coop build there but no one watched it, so I shut the channel down for the time being. I am still filming the build and would like to post it all once its done, but it's too much to do in real time.
