I'm an American. Correct me if I'm wrong. But the kings guard is not a tourist attraction. The guards and the horses are doing a job. They are not there for the benefit of the crowds. I think they deserve a little more respect from the public. The sign on the wall says the horses will kick and bite. I would bite too if I was harassed all day by people that just want a picture. Just an observation.

As an American, (and yeah, I know what you think of the average American) I can't stand how the tourists I see disrespect ALL of the guards. GET OUT OF THE WAY!! It looks to me like tourists are becoming less and less responsive to their passing. The laughing and snickering chaps my hide also.

Agreed, but horses don’t snap. Gentle or forceful nuzzling can mean a number of things, such as to gain attention or to seek a benefit.
They do. Those weapons they carry are not ornamental. Those guys roaming around in fatigues are also Horse Guards, and their guns are loaded.
@@jayfurjill They should't be allowed to actually _shoot_ tourists, tempting though that might be(!!!!!) - innocent and considerate ones could get injured, and it would stain the stone surfaces - but they should be allowed to prod them with their swords or bayonets, if the tourist is in the way, too close or, heaven forbid, _touching_ them. Perhaps they could have some sort of anti-bacterial coating on the tips, so that at the end of the shift, when they have to clean the sword or bayonet before going off duty, they are not exposed to the random bacteria from all those tourists they've had to prod.

Ormonde is great. He switches on his biting mood instantly, ears back, lips out of the way and teeth at the ready as he snakes his neck around - then goes back to being the most relaxed of horses when there's no-one within nipping distance. There're a couple of others who do a superb 'butter won't melt in _my_ mouth' act, literally seconds after punching someone hard with their teeth, or trying to squeeze the sh!t out of them when they get their arm in their grasp!

People cry and whine when they get bit, but it’s Their own damn fault! There are signs at the Guard Stations that tells them that Horses may kick and bite, that same sign explicitly says to NOT touch the reins! They love to tease the Horses, I enjoy it extremely when Arnie and Ormonde are on Duty, because they don’t care who you are, they WILL BITE the tourists. They have come to hate people because of the incessant teasing! I absolutely love Arnie and Ormonde! ❤

Those who find it 'easy' will sometimes do it a bit more often if newer horses are finding it difficult, but not more than once a week, and that not for a full hour, only for the period left after the new horse is taken back in.
