I'm a genealogist and my husband and I photo document cemeteries for others that are researching their family trees.. of course I attempt to do a little research on those that I document.. it really brings to light that every stone ,whether it's a big stone, little stone or even a fieldstone marks the resting place of someone that walked this Earth and have a story.
That makes it all more interesting.
Very interesting. I tried doing my family's genealogy and hit a dead end after my grandparents unfortunately 😔
@@terrijones8127 I'm sorry. Sometimes it can be very difficult. I have quite a few brick walls not in my immediate family but in others that I have helped with theirs. One day a clue was going to pop up.. just keep thinking that and don't give up.
Thank you. Your work is appreciated. 🥰
Idk why, but I enjoy walks through cemeteries. Thank you Lamont for bringing me along to places I wouldn't be able to visit on my own! ❤
They are very peaceful and usually have beautiful landscapes. Interesting bits of information.
@@jansmith2003 oh Jan, I think he is a good man too. The work he is doing is so important keeping our ancestors alive. You should be proud of him.
I always like seeing where he is on his newest videos and almost jealous.
I have thought about going to local cemeteries and clean the older forgotten headstones.
Safe travels to dad. And hope some day to run into him while visiting cemetery in KS. 🌻
@@jansmith2003 That's awesome Jan! Do you ever tag along with him? If so, I bet you've seen some wonderful architect, as well as fascinating stories. 👍
@@kimlawrence8655 I love the different styles of markers and crypts, also the inscriptions. And you're right. They are a peaceful solitude in today's chaotic world.
@@jansmith2003 That will be so much fun!! I look forward to seeing that.
My dad did genealogy work on the side when he was still alive and my mom and I would go with him to cemeteries and go looking around. I loved doing that with him. My mom would bring stuff for a picnic after we got done and we made a day out of it. I still love going through old cemeteries. The cemetery in this video is so beautiful and I love the crypt you showed us. I love your videos Lamont. I've learned so much by watching them.
Sorry for you and your family's loss of your dad
To answer your question about the Hunley , they were given a hero’s welcome home. Giving closure to the family.. thank you for this tour and remembrance of the families.
He's just another gen x'er that thinks the civil war was about slavery because google said so. While he eats cheap labor fruits and vegetables from the same slave type labor!
I absolutely love Magnolia Cemetery. Been there a few times and I could spend all day there. It’s so beautiful and peaceful! Thanks Lamont for sharing the stories of people that are resting there. It’s nice to hear them from one of the greatest storytellers on UA-cam! Thanks for all you do!
It is good to remember those buried beneath the headstones.
Every life is precious & to their families they were everything.
The world.
RIP
Interesting how they depicted the life and manner of death on the grave stones.
I love the old stones that have the sayings and their ages. Year, months and days they were on this earth.
This is the content I pay for Uncle 🙏🏿Wait a minute…I don’t pay a cent…well this is the type of content I would pay for 🙏🏿
Thank you for taking me places I will never get to travel too. My late husband had been around the earth 3 times, he was in Navy, and shared places he had been. So your life is traveling around and doing videos and you provide us shut-ins places to go and escape our situations for a few. THANK YOU. Peace, love and blessings.
I love these older cemeteries. Thank you for sharing this with us
That’s a long time ago wow. This cemetery is so beautiful. Rest In Peace 🙏🏻🕊 Thank you for sharing Lamont very interested video. Awesome job
That cemetery is amazingly beautiful..I know a lot of people would think thats weird but i find them so fascinating! It looks like a movie set..I love your channels, I have done the same for years, just never filmed much besides for personal FB etc. I grew up around some amazing cemeteries in chicagoland area now i live in Chesterfield, Indiana next door to Muncie (Home of the ball jars). Here in Chesterfield we have a couple hidden old cemeteries with revolutionary soldiers..so cool..we also have camp chesterfield (a psychic village thats super cool). Ty for sharing Lamont, stay safe!
Yes. It does look like a movie set. 🍿🎬📽️🎞️🎥🎬🎬🎬🎬🎭
You should see Bonaventure in Savanah. Imagine Magnolia but far more picturesque and maintained
@@ChrsGuit i would love to! Too bad im so far away..I'll have to make my way out there..thank you!
Hello fellow Hoosier! I'm in Alexandria.
@@kristinbrown8628 Hey Neighbor 👋!! 😀
I'm from NC and frequent SC often but I can never seem to make my way to Charleston. I hear everything about Charleston is beautiful, even the cemeteries. Thank you for making these videos. I love seeing old cemeteries, especially in the South.
Charleston is my favorite city in the south. You should check it out
What a beautiful cemetery. I'm not a history buff but I enjoy watching and learning about people you tell about that had died in the 1800 to 1900's and what they died from and the medicine that they didn't have back then to heal them in time.
I love walking through an older cemetery with the history behind it!! a lot of the cemeteries around here in south Alabama people died of yellow fever back in the 1800s! the hunley was built in mobile Alabama my hometown
Being in that part of the county, Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah is another beautiful, fantastic and historic place to pay respect to our fellow Americans. Always a thumbs up and I really enjoy your tours.
These are my favorites. Learning about ordinary, every day people. Thank you for these!
What a lovely cemetery thanks for sharing lamont take care my friend much love from England 🇬🇧❤
I use to do civil war reenactments and got to participate in the burial of the Hunley crew. There was about 15 thousand reenactors that marched behind the cassions carrying the remains. We marched about 5 miles through Charleston and people lined the streets the entire way waving confederate flags. It was an honor. Btw there's a decent movie they made about the Hunley called the Hunley.
What an incredible experience! bless you. I'm going to look for that movie.
I was there myself in the processional. And also was able to see the HL Hunley. I still have some of the souvenirs from then
Their journey was complete.
Love Charleston, and Savannah too. Good food and good weather usually along with the architecture of the cities.
I love these old cemetery's. I love watching all of your blogs.thsnks for all the good times. I wish I could do the traveling you do and go all these place. Keep it up and God bless you!
beautiful cemetery.. rip all.. ty Lamont ❤
Enjoyed this one Lamont 👍👊🇬🇧🇺🇸
Hello Lamont. Enjoy your day everyone.
This was a enjoyable cemetery walk, Lamont and the history on some of the lesser known gravestones fascinated me as much or more than the info on the Hunley, which I knew about. It's sad that it had all those previous failed attempts ( and deaths) before a working submarine could be launched, that was one thing I didn't know about this event. It's fascinating when they give some history right on the stones, thanks for catching some of those. Take care !
Love when u do walks through cemetery,s .thanx so much Lamont
Take Care Lamont and God bless
My sister lived next to this graveyard….it has a lot of history in it. It also has the grave of Kate Waring on the other side

I was there in that cemetery 3 weeks ago. I walked all over it and the cemetery beside it too. Thank you. Love your channel
Cemeteries keep my curiosity because the Graves always have a story to tell, thanks for taking me along for the ride.
Soy de Argentina y me encanta todo lo que nos mostras ese cementerio esta lleno de monumentos maravillosos, gracias
I remember when they brought the Hunley up. Really an interesting story. Thanks Lamont for your narration. 👏
This cemetery reminds me very much of Bonaventure cemetery here in Savannah. Another beautiful place where they have daily tours. The moss draped oaks are the same. Very beautiful place. ❤️🙏
Thanks! This is a beautiful place. 💛🕊 💐
I love learning about other people's lives. Thank you. And your videos always remind me how blessed I am to live in modern times. Our ancestors suffered terribly and died young, without the benefits of true treatment. We are blessed.
Very very cool cemetery
Such a beautiful and idyllic cemetery. So many interesting stories and headstones. I’ve a question Lamont - why were some headstones small while others were usual size in the confederate soldier sections?
I totally agree with you. I think the centenary my great grandparents and all of my Grandma’s siblings are buried in is beautiful. I love to go there because it’s so beautiful.
Money
@@janwarriner6554 So true. The burial 'bussness' is for now anyway a milit. billion dollar industry.
Funeral homes don't tell family's that they can go to Walmart and get a coffen at a fraction of the price the funeral home would charge. Many state that the bodie HAS to be filled with crazy harsh chemicals (that get into our ground water, not to mention the steel coffens hurt the land)
The above ground buildings have pipes that go into the ground where the body waste products drain into. The coffens are put in on a slant for this propose.
Think a funeral home will say anything about green burials? NOPE !
They even have big metal machines that the body is torn apart with extreme hot water blasted onto it and that water goes right back into our drinking water system. "YUCK !"
Sure the water goes through a 'plant', I still say "YUCK!" I use UVBRITE bottles, at least it helps to kill germs with UV light.
In England in the 1800's, long story short, folks were getting sick and dieing because of the towns drinking water, so were their animals. Alot of folks drank from a town fountain.
What happened was the big cemetery was up on a big hill, the ground water seeped into the river alittle above the town which used that river for their main drinking and washing, & cooking with water.
The pump can still be seen today in London but it's chained closed. Crazy stuff huh.
@@ghostcityshelton9378 fascinating facts! Ty!
A lot of the smaller stones were for the soldiers that died in the Civil War. Arlington Cemetery is all smaller white stones
Enjoyed this video, good job.Magnoila cemetery in Augusta,Ga is historic as well.
I was in Charleston a couple years ago and did not know about this cemetery...I went to other old cemeteries because I luv walking through them...but not this one....guess I need to take another road trip there.....I even went to the museum that is preserving that submarine...thanks Lamont...lmao.. Be safe!!
Wow, that’s a classic cemetery naturally made for a movie set, you’ll ever find! Nice job as per the usual.
Thanks for sharing Lamont. History has always been a hobby of mine, and if you love American history, you’ve got to love South Carolina. I think there was a made for TV movie a long time ago with Donald Sutherland about the Hunnely.
Nice and very interesting video, Lamont!!!! TKU
Appreciate Lamont at Large! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
