Grouping with you was awesome in Chardok. I made a bard after grouping with you on my other account (I was a shadowknight - Killians). When I got invited into the group i was excited that I finally got to play with you. You're awesome dude, keep it going on!
Fantastic video! Thank you so much! I was never a raider, so I haven’t seen much of PoP. I’m hoping I can at least make it into the T2 zones this time on Teek.
Good video. The only other thing I'd mention in addition to what you did, for Paladins, is that they get the Shackles of Tunare root spell, which is so incredible, I was still using it regularly in Depths of Darkhollow (and most likely beyond, but I retired at that point). It's a fast cast, no recast delay Root spell that DOES NOT BREAK EARLY (unless the mob takes direct damage). This spell is super important for Rathe Council in Earth B, as well as several encounters in Plane of Time. :) Not to mention it's just an excellent control spell for like... all other group/duo content and everything, lol. Who needs an Enchanter when you can just root mobs and back away from them? It's soooo good, hnnnnggg
Beginning of the end. This was the expansion I played on when I started back in the day. Technically just before it dropped. After playing P99 though I can't help but feel POP is what killed classic even though Velious is considered the last classic expansion.
Awesome video. Bards will also be the defacto raid pullers as well because Fade having the level cap actually helps pull the bosses solo instantly dropping trash.
Crypt of Decay , specifically the rat area, is one of the top exp areas as well. The rats are the same level as the entrance trash but grant about 25% more exp per kill. The mob density however is the real winner in this section of the zone. A good enchanter can charm one of the named melee rats (Warlord/Crazed Zerker) and rake in PoFire rates of exp with a solid group. Edit: Be sure not to touch the ooze traps on the rocks as they do spawn some nasty fly traps with 2-5 mobs that stun and hit hard.
Just a slight reminder about the spell system. There were three different items for spells, not just the runes. First were the Ethereal Parchments, which gave level 61 and 62 spells; then Spectral Parchments, which gave level 63 and 64 spells; and finally there were Glyphed Rune Words, which gave you your level 65 spells.
@@Dngrspot yup, yup that's right. The 3 drops. I like how spells are handled in later xpacs with the different ranks. You can always get your base spells on day 1
@IonBlaze1 I agree completely! Going with the RK 1, 2, and 3 system made the game much more friendly to casual players, and still rewarded those who put in the time and effort to get the upgraded spells.
Does the TLP have the level cap code on Fading Memories? It never worked that way back when PoP was current. I pulled for most of the raids as a Bard back then.
Yeah it got patched. The first rank only works up to mobs level 75 I think. And instead of being a flat 900ish mana cost, now it costs 12% of your mana for rank 1. Final rank 3 improves it to 2% of your mana & works on mobs 5 levels higher than you.
The issue with headshot isn't that it only works on lower level mobs. That was always the case. Rather, it's that headshot never procs. They lowered the proc chance too some abysmal value. It takes a thousdand heroic dex to change it. So, you won't really even see headshots go off for a while. You'll see maybe one every 3-4 days.
@@marshallcierovola376 ooooooh ok. So that's what happened to it. Yeah I remember people would go after that 17 delay bow for headshot cause of how much it'd proc
This video inspired me to try again I'm going to try to play again but this time I burned out in the upper 40s or early fifties I can't remember3 before vellios unlocked
Is it worth continuing on my 60 enchanter into this expansion and beyond? I have a ranger, beastlord, and paladin as alts, too. Or, I'm thinking about starting a SK as they seem to be becoming the better class in the game as it goes on. Any suggestions?
@@robertc801 enc will still be top dps this expansion. The mobs hit mega mega hard. After this though, charm not as good. A lot of enc quit. Little competition for gear. Then sks are always the dev's favorite class. Pop opens in a few hours. Gonna be some fun raiding
@@IonBlaze1 Got it! So it sounds like definitely enjoy this expansion on my already pretty good enchanter but after this or maybe sometime during, create a SK and go with him from then on out.
they didnt leave in the change they made allowing as oyu hit certain levels, certain planes unlock like they did back in 2004? Like if you were 63 you could go into BoT
Enjoyed the nostalgia - Planes was the first expansion for me that really required raiding to proceed/excel - and I really dislike raiding. I know - I must be weird. This is where is usually stop playing.
@@dionrobison8516 nah you're not weird. I find grouping to be much more enjoyable than raiding. Raiding is just a time-sink to get Uber gear. Grouping is where you get to use all your class's abilities & shine.
Even thought it degrades the need for porters it adds many benefits that outweigh that: 1. Central location to get MGB buffs while afk 2. Quick travel to locations if your play time is limited 3. Central location for most spells 4. Easy place to meetup for new players who start in different cities
I'd say mercs / voice chat ruined the vibes of the game. Why talk to people anymore? In a MMO? Nobody has time for that BS (yes that's laced with sarcasm)
I always thought planes of power really ramped up the game. Where it went downhill for me was the house of Thule expansion. 1k hp and mana gear made it ridiculous. Now MFers got like 1 million Hp
@@achromatic1 oh yeah it is a huge time sink. Fortunately it's gotten better. My guild was clearing places like Vex Thal & Temple Veeshan in sub 3 hrs once a week. Other raid night was 2 hours at most. My last guild was definitely slower.
@@IonBlaze1 My guild never got to that point with ToV. I had to stop playing halfway through Luclin cause I realized I was spending way too much time just raid login. If you add all the AA grinding it took to keep up with the rest of the guild it's much worse. It's too bad cause I really enjoy this game. I think I finally understand now why so many people can't play EQ past classic. It's crazy cause this is a watered down version of EQ too.
This expansion gets a lot of hate from some, but I loved PoP, the problem with PoP on live is no AoCs. That issue is fixed on the TLP servers. My guild on Oakwynd had 140-150 people online at the start of the expansion every night, it was great, but by the time we got to Time and cleared it about 3 weeks later, we were down to maybe 70 in our raids with boxes. Still going in Prophecy of Ro expansion and I look forward to TSS in January.
@IonBlaze1 def still nice, was correcting the % since they do eventually get a 90% slow much later in the expansions (later than most will play I'd wager though)
for me this has always been the WORST expac by a long shot. Flagging system is a complete clusterfk - makes no sense, glitches easily, no continuity between planes. its like pop was designed by 10 different devs, never communicating with each other. Theres a reason so many players quit during pop.
Glad to see you back. Your opinion, what Server would you recommend for a new player? I haven't played since before WoW release. I remember liking the bazaar and PoK. Is there any that are around that?
Teek is the newest progression server. PoP launched 2 days ago but I think the leveling population is low. If you want to play official EQ, you probably got to wait til May next year. Free emulators are popping off though. You got the heroes journey which lets you play as 3 classes at once. You find Varietyvoid streaming it a lot on twitch. And the other most popular emulator is the Quarm server. A vanilla EQ experience with some custom content for convenience. It's in Kunark & ending in PoP. The server admin secrets is really attentive to the community.
