Thx for posting! Prospector Dean here from MN. I recently visited the GPAA Duisenburg camp and ran a Royal drywasher for the day with the manufacturer, good times! I found some gold and met some nice people. I am returning to SoCal soon to visit family and plan on returning to the Rndsburg area to do some prospecting on the GPAA claims in the Goler Gulch area and some general exploring as well..I have enjoyed watching your videos while I am stuck here in icy MN and maybe we can prospect together some time when I am out there! Appreciate your posts..
1:55 bring a ladder or a couple of 4x4's to lay accross it and then you can cross it tied to a rope. Bring some more people back to explore that mine. How deep is the opening at 2:43 ? Bring a lighter with you and if the flame gets low or sputters you know oxygen is low. Sulfides could be a gold mine. They tell what is in the rock by getting rock samples and testing the samples. They look for veins of quarts or veins of minerals and have them tested for how much of what material they contain. Certain types of rocks in certain areas give them a clue where to sample. 13:32 is a rock drill they drill the holes for explosives with those metal rods. From looking at info online there was a lead mine and silver and copper mines nearby along with manganese and other stuff. Nice idea bringing a black light.

What kind of detector do you use? I use to swing a Whites Goldmaster V-Sat out there .. Gohler, Bonanza, Last Chance, etc. I spent a lot of time out there but only ever found lots of bird shot and tiny pieces of rusted cans, boot tacks, etc. I finally gave up and headed north above Nevada City to the old hydraulic pits .. where I was successful digging gold nuggets up to about a gram. I never had the courage to go in any of those mine shafts in the El Paso range so this is interesting. Thanks 👍
I’m surprised those mines are open at this late date. I know the BLM made a big push back around 2012 or so to seal up a lot of mines in the El Paso Mountains area. In particular, they sealed up the Stephens Holding Mines. I was glad that we got in that one and filmed it before they sealed it. I think that mine was more in the Spangler Hills if I can remember correctly, but isn’t that all pretty much in the same geographical area as the El Paso Mountains? Regarding the ore car tracks that you commented on, yes, they were usually removed and used elsewhere or scrapped. You found tracks later on in the tunnel, though, so that was cool. You’ve got some good lighting, too, for these videos! Really lights up the tunnels! Anyway, great video!
Those mines above Holland camp are the Apache mines . I knew the claimant years ago . On the other side of the ridge behind the mines is nugget gulch a very rich placer area .

These are actually the El Paso Mountains in California, not the Franklin Mountains in El Paso...confusing, but it is what it is. I clicked here thinking the same thing but the geography looked too unfamiliar to be anywhere near El Paso.

4x4 is recommended.The first part of the pass is pretty rough on a 2wd. The road connects to Bickle Camp, Burro Shmidt tunnel and the 14 fwy on one side, randsburk/redrock on another side and Ridgecrest on the other.

Now it makes sense. 😆 I thought it was El Paso, Texas. The Franklin Mountains are part of the Rocky Mountains system. Basically this is where the. Rocky Mountains start or end depending on how you look at it. On video though the geography is very similar. There are many abandoned mines too in the area.
waste all that walking when you could a been detecting all that. It all looked juicy. Speaking of the mines, back then they didnt have detectors so what they reported could be way off. I always detect the mines. Found plenty of little chunks that way.

The Apache mine would have killed you .It has poison gas . In fact a friend lowered a bird down in a cage years ago from a fishing pole and the bird came up dead in about 2 minutes . Typically I stay out of mines that have black dirt in the tailing pile

The tin mines are off of Martin Luther King on the old Bowen lease Northwest of North Hills. It doesn't look anything like this area.
That one with the A frame is over 400ft long and the most spectacular thing I have ever seen.

When you crush your copper? sample, how do you tell if it has copper, or perhaps any gold in it?

Fluorite stops glowing when the uv light is removed calcite keeps glowing for a few second's after the light has been removed.
