Nicely done. Getting a vintage tone, especially through the guitar and drums, while playing fast, is what this song needs. The early Beatles clattered and banged their way through their rock numbers, and the 'Phonics captured this here brilliantly. Lovely homage.
Even though this song is 50+ years old it still gets the juices flowing and reminds me of how lucky we are to still have the genius of Paul McCartney walking the Earth.
I can't pay Jones any higher compliment than i feel he one of a very small group of singers who would have actually been brilliant enough to sing for The Beatles. What a voice...
When they did the 50th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper, the Stereophonics had apparently rehearsed the title track, but were down to do the reprise. They learned it, played it, and got a compliment from Geoff Emerick or someone similar. I'm not a fan, but they earned a lot of my respect from that
My favourite song in the world done as well as I've ever heard it. It was the first track on the first album I ever bought with my pocket money as an eight year old kid in 1969....and just got into the pleasure centre of my brain and never left.
A great Beatles number and yes it was definitely one of Paul's but what we often forget is the interaction between Paul and John when songs were being put together. Paul took his raw song around to John's house and THEY then finished it off. John recommended a few changes to the lyrics and hey presto you have a magnificent finish. Both the guys did write and produce songs completely on their own but an awful lot had elements added by either one to the others songs and we should not forget that occasionally both George and Ringo suggested some lyrical or musical changes without getting credited for it.
i enjoy these modern versions of 60s classics - i have this curiosity of how the songs from back in the day (50s too) would sound if they were recorded now. and i like what i heard here. was a bit by-the-book (despite slightly uptempo), but quite enjoyable.
This is one of the best Beatles covers I've ever heard. Beatles tunes are surprisingly hard to cover....they RARELY sound as good as the original (and usually sound laughably ATROCIOUS). But these boys have nailed it! Well done =)
Awesome. To say it was too fast, would be like saying the girl was too pretty. It was right on, especially when the drummer kept really tight eights and was in the pocket throughout the song. He was on fire, btw. Lead guitar was schweeet - only Tele and such a rootsy playing style could have matched the vocalist's raspy voice, wish I could sing like that! Bass player was really laid back, fitting the song. His sound, instrument and touch was well chosen - semi-acoustic bass and a pick - fantastic bass playing. I approve.
Why another voice, with this fucking vocal? Hahaha, almost like Paul in Beatle, they did not need another singer, besides Paul (LoL). Let the insults begin!
i play bass its a simple rif but quite demanding cos of the tempo.. always thought richard was a mediocre player but his playing here is first class tho using a pick certainly helps
Well, she was just seventeen You know what I mean And the way she looked Was way beyond compare So how could I dance with another Ooh, when I saw her standing there? Well, she looked at me And I, I could see That before too long I'd fall in love with her She wouldn't dance with another Ooh, when I saw her standing there Well, my heart went "boom" When I crossed that room And I held her hand in mine Oh we danced through the night And we held each other tight And before too long I fell in love with her Now I'll never dance with another Ooh, since I saw her standing there Well, my heart went, "Boom" When I crossed that room And I held her hand in mine Oh, we danced through the night And we held each other tight And before too long I fell in love with her Now I'll never dance with another Oh, since I saw her standing there Oh, since I saw her standing there Yeah, well since I saw her standing there
Criminally Underrated song played by a criminally underrated band
Underrated band defo, but criminally underrated song? It's massive man 😂.
Kyle Taundry is it fuck
Kyle beat me to this comment. Who underrates this song?
Yep! 100%
Amazing. Great song by the Beatles and brilliantly recreated by the Stereophonics.

As time goes by, I think of this as one of the best Beatles songs in the catalog. It just doesn't age...plus, it's danceable. 🙂
Even though this song is 50+ years old it still gets the juices flowing and reminds me of how lucky we are to still have the genius of Paul McCartney walking the Earth.
The greatest Beatles cover I've ever heard in my life!
Kelly fucking Jones. This guy can sing anything.

I don’t know how I got here, but WOW ! Absolutely amazing job of arguably my favorite tune ever. Thanks for sharing !

Buffalo Springthorpe
... and you're fucking deaf. Nailed it, my ass. These guys have no sense of timing or dynamics. It's just a pile of empty flash.
Buffalo Springthorpe it is really strong ! That drummer is jamming.!
Buffalo Springthorpe I agree
yesterday is the most covered song of all time i am told,
If I was a musician I would ask Kelly Jones to sing my tunes
Great cover Kelly Jones and Stereophonics!

The Beatles are the best *-*
They rock it
A Beatle cover without vocal harmonies is like a vegetable soup without vegetables
You're like vegetable soup without the soup
^^^ you win!
@Hallucination You're a man with a fork in a world of soup
Why another voice, with this fucking vocal? Hahaha, almost like Paul in Beatle, they did not need another singer, besides Paul (LoL). Let the insults begin!
Danny Esse
Agreed, the harmonies (and Paul's vocal delivery) make this song.
awesome!
Really ought to listen as well to the version of Twist & Shout by Beverley Knight from the same Radio TWO Abbey Road sessions
Increible! :3
well done
This fuckin' rocks!!!!
That's my boys :)

+1875HIBEESFC great, thanks!
very good
It's true, i've been trying to play this song in multiple ways on rhythm guitar over the last 2 years, i never quite sound like John.
Looooove
i play bass its a simple rif but quite demanding cos of the tempo.. always thought richard was a mediocre player but his playing here is first class tho using a pick certainly helps
Not bad at all! From a lifelong Beatles fan!
as close as it gets
good one
that fucking bass line - respect freedom of expression
Well, she was just seventeen
You know what I mean
And the way she looked
Was way beyond compare
So how could I dance with another
Ooh, when I saw her standing there?
Well, she looked at me
And I, I could see

I'd fall in love with her
She wouldn't dance with another
Ooh, when I saw her standing there
Well, my heart went "boom"
When I crossed that room
And I held her hand in mine
Oh we danced through the night
And we held each other tight
And before too long
I fell in love with her
Now I'll never dance with another
Ooh, since I saw her standing there
Well, my heart went, "Boom"
When I crossed that room
And I held her hand in mine
Oh, we danced through the night
And we held each other tight
And before too long
I fell in love with her
Now I'll never dance with another
Oh, since I saw her standing there
Oh, since I saw her standing there
Yeah, well since I saw her standing there
Great pipes, Jones. But how about the sticksman? Great drumming.
Not as tight as the Beatles. But Kelly's voice is great.
Kasia Sobczyk
aaa hooooooooooo :D kills it
How to take a great song......and make it better :)
Still a thumbs up ....
My man mr kelly jones.
Great cover...listen to their cover of Gimme Shelter, it's brilliant
A lot of people were saying this was Jensen lol
THAT FUCKING BASS LINE! :D
Thumbs. Up from me
For some reason George never played the correct lead live either. It's really a cool, as well as SIMPLE lead.
What earphones did they use???
Don't over analysis it, tap your feet and enjoy
You can't get better than original versions though can you.
Georgia Bowring1
Not in this case no
Очень интересное исполнение
what model of guitar is using the Lead singer?
A Fender Telecaster, if you're still interested.
