So the commune begins 😅 Could not be happier to be welcoming both Steven and Kendall, Glenn & of course, Leo to the property!! Happiness is meant to be shared and I am so excited about the future 🙌🏼
Make sure you sub to Kendall & Glenn's channel. Their videos are seriously beautiful! 💛 ua-cam.com/users/KendallandGlenn
As someone who's just moved into my Tiny House, the excitement of finding some land to park is next level!! I'm always so impressed by your determination and your motivation to just get things done - what I wouldn't do for a Stephen!! I love his carport!!
Couldn't your neighbour at least have moved Steven out of the shed? 😮
Hurray, they are moving on your property. Cheers 🍻 to that. 😊 More fun memories are coming up with all of you.
Love your new friend Steven happy you won't be alone will have people staying with you can't wait for next video ❤
"Happiness is meant to be shared" love that thought.
You probably won’t see this Max but I’ve been with you from the very beginning. This is a huge turning point. Casual mention of girlfriend, new partners on land and of course the new excavator. My family grew up with heavy earth moving equipment. I see your happiness and excitement. So happy to see this phase of your life. Dear Max. Happy for you, no one is more deserving. It will be fun to watch developments.
Oooh! Eamon is gonna be jealous!
Good lol
Where is the instruction manual. Be careful on the turns, dont. Tip over Please
I just said the same thing :-)
My thought too 😂
Ha! Came here to say the same thing.
I am a 49 year old female from West Virginia and I love driving an excavator and backhoe!! Growing up my Dad worked for an excavating company and would bring equipment home to do projects. He taught me how to use one. And then 6 years ago I started working as an Administrative Assistant at a cemetery. One of our maintenance men who did the grave digging asked me one day if I knew how to drive and use a backhoe, I told him yes but it had been awhile. So he gave me a quick refresher. He wanted to know that someone else besides him could use it in case something happened. So I totally get your excitement and I am very happy for you!!!!
What an awesome story! Love it! thanks for getting it lol
I grew up the same way. Dad and Grandad had a business together. ❤
Well done Max.
That is the only piece of machinery that can get thru our red mud.
I'm green with envy.
I live near you.
I recognise everything and I love your channel.
It's nice to see something so familiar on UA-cam and I certainly won't disclose your location.
I can't wait to see what you do with the CAT.
(they're soooo expensive!)
I’m from West Virginia too! ❤
A nice cozy spot for Steven 👍 maybe stick a construction block or 2 under each leg of the carport so you dont skim the roof quite so closely
Great call!
@@MaxandOccy I had to use a cement block on mine to get my boat in , PLUS the blocks to hold it down in the winds which I used to tie it down to. And yes I'm jealous of mini Cat Stevens.
Proving once again that the kitchen is the heart of a home, your kitchen remodel completely changes the warmth and character of the cottage - it is absolutely stunning in its own little way. Steven will (already has) save you so much time and energy - and is so much fun! Excellent investment. And, like others, I'm thrilled that you are already gathering like-minded people to share your property and your joy. You deserve all this happiness.
Thanks Susan!!!! I'm really looking forward to seeing what the future brings x
I don’t know why I’m feeling so happy and relieved that you will be joined by your friends and their dog. Companionship is a big factor of course but also there’s safety in numbers and during emergencies.
Plus Occy has a friend ❤😊
So chuffed for you, Max & Occy.
It has been a long time coming, so excited!

💪🏼
Max, so excited for you and Occy to have some full time friends close by. The property is plenty big enough for sure. You and they will both benefit from being together. I am sure you have many other projects planned and the man and woman power will be a big plus. Best of luck to you all as you move forward together. Looking forward to seeing Occy romping with his new pal.
I feel and thought the same!
LOVE the idea of a fruit forest!
I love that idea too!
Thanks Melissa!
I could feel the thrill you showed when getting Steven. Working smarter to protect body parts are so important. I love that you will have friends close by with common interests and Occy has a friend. I am looking forward to the new shop build and all the new renovations you are planing.
Thanks, busy times ahead!!
Oooh!!! Steven is a sweet addition 🤩 Very nice, Max! We're saving up for our first: a tractor. These machines are such a game changer. Congratulations!
Don't change his name. That was hilarious 😂
I so nearly got a tractor!! But I was told for my place with steep slopes I'd be better with an excavator. I'd love BOTH 👀
Impressive Max how well you work that excavator 💪😜
Great addition to you place , your friends also
@@MaxandOccy I had a Kubota 4 x 4 tractor with diff lock - could go anywhere... but yep can tip if you lose it.
Just love Occy ❤
I hear ya!
The senior pace while bringing the new addition home was both hilarious and adorable. I loved Occy's pacing along with your ride. Cat Steven is a great addition to the family. Also, welcome to Glenn & Kendall and Leo!
Love your magnolia tree🌸
Thanks!!
@@MaxandOccy I’m not sure if it’s all magnolias, but I know for sure that some magnolia flowers are edible (for humans). You can add them to salads raw, or pickle them.
Wonderful video this week. I am glad for the company you will have. First things first. Be sure to sign tenancy agreements that spell out who owns what, who pays how much and to whom. I know you are kind, and you mean well, but as the property owner, you need some compensation. What services will you provide? Who owns the tiny house? What utilities are shared and by what percentage? etc. Legalize it!
I am looking forward to more exciting content.
Oh my goodness what a jampacked video, surprise after surprise after surprise😮
And that’s why I follow you. I can’t wait to see the addition of the new tiny home on your beautiful piece of property with your new neighbors.
It’s nice to have your own space but it’s also nice to have a friendly face look at you once in a while and say
❤ “Hi nice morning isn’t it? “
Sure is xx
Burst out in laughter at Occy being dried after his bath! He’s such a good boy!
I know, that was awesome that he let Max dry him with the blower! Hilarious.
His favourite bit!
Yes Agree - loved the "hairdryer " ! 🦋
Been keen viewers of Kendall and Glenn’s Channel and having them on your property makes for a perfect fit. Looking forward to the developments.
Guess I'm one of your viewers who's less overwhelmed by Steven, but I can certainly see how much joy he brings you. I was riveted by last month's kitchen build, and fair is fair, so happy digging. Communal living can be so rewarding, so all the best with your new commune mates. Occy is a beauty when he gets cleaned up, and pretty tolerant through the process. What a handsome boy! We're just past our longest day here in Canada and in a heat wave this weekend... love watching your progress on the other side of the world!
Haha I will pass those kind words on to the king!
Steven is a great addition to your land (going to help so much with work), but best of all, you have 2 of your friends living with you on the land. Occy is also having a friend so it is win-win for everybody. Have fun, everyone. Hugs to you all.
Couldn't agree more Annie! And yes, so stoked, so many wins 🙌🏼💛
Just be careful, Steven is a Decepticon 👀
? Unless you have knowledge you care to share you should probably just stuff a sock in it. No need making disparaging remarks about people you do not know! If you have loving concern for a friend , just be careful is sufficient .
Haha, love it!!!

And if Max ever wants a side hustle he could hire himself and Cat out 😀
SO EXCITING! And Occy is hilarious 😂
Haha love my boy
Love the name, Cat Steven, it's perfect! I think you need to add a sign at the entrance to your property that says, "Morning Has Broken" to complete the reference and because it is so symbolic of how this property has really helped you turn the corner on the struggles you've dealt with in the past few years.
That is a FANTASTIC idea! Such a wonderful song and you are right about symbolism it has for this property and Max and Occy. Oh maybe some wonderful artist that watches could do something that has those words and a sunset... That would be awesome! 😄🥰
That’s so exciting with Kendall and Glenn and Leo moving in!
I know!!! Stoked
I've been watching their UA-cam for ages and they're so down to earth and awesome just like Max, so stoked!
So much to be excited about! Welcome Steve, Kendall, Glenn and Leo 🤩
Thanks Virginia!!
Wow, major changes! I'm pleased for you. And I'd like to offer a suggestion: just as good fences make good neighbours, agreements in writing prevent misunderstandings and hurt feelings. I get it that you are all great and kind people, but it would be to the advantage of everyone to put a few things in writing -- just a few ground rules for being on the property. Like: if someone parks a tiny house there, and it turns out that any type of major problems arise, how will you cope with that legally? Agreeing to arbitration by a neutral and certified third party upfront is a good idea. And who would bear the cost of such arbitration? If there are big projects to be done on the property, what is the division of labour and money? If something happens to the water system, for example. Or if, legally, you need to put in one or more septic systems. And then what if a couple has put money into the place and decides for whatever reason to leave? Technically speaking, they could declare some ownership unless you have a written agreement otherwise. Or what if down the road someone wants to share legal ownership? And maybe you are not comfortable with that (whole nother can of worms!) Or...? I know it probably feels weird to make written agreements with friends, but that's what will keep your friendships intact: spelling everything out up front. In the 1980s I had a lot of experience with communes, and I can tell you that most ended badly, in part because things were not put in writing and agreed to from the start. Cheers, and good luck!
EXCELLENT ADVICE
Thanks for the thoughtful advice, Joanne!
Totally agree
Totally agree with this as some of our friends went through a bad situation in Byron and they lost a lot financially, emotionally and lots of time. Some of our other friends are going through this in Coffs Harbour and are having to go through the court process. It all sounds exciting and amazing at the start and you all start out as best friends but as things go on and people decide on different things and dynamics change things can get bad quickly especially when financial things come into play. Good luck! Love your videos and excited for you to have Stephen! 🎉
Yes, I was going to add the same thing. A cohabitation agreement or something like that is important . Also, I imagine you will have looked into necessary permits, etc. Best of luck.
Whaaaaat!! I love Steven. You never cease to entertain. Look forward to seeing it put to work.
You and me both 😍
You look like a pro running the excavator!
Haha I only showed the good bits!
Love the excavator dancing 🕺🏼 😂✌🏽

Congratulations, to All!
Thanks Doreen!
I don't know how it is in Australia, but in the US, you need building permits to build even a deck. Check and make sure before you start building any new projects.
I'm grateful it's the same in the UK. I spent a small fortune buying my home, I'd not be pleased with a commune springing up next door. Certainly wouldn't be happy with all that concrete!
@@samanthaw1419 If the commune had awesome people, like Max and his friends, I would be so very happy.
@@samanthaw1419 why would you not be happy with someone putting a floor in their garage/workshop? As for putting tiny homes on a block of land as big as Max and Occy's, he wouldnt be able to do it without planning approval and with the amount of land he has (and trees) he can position a heap of tiny homes there without even being able to see them if he doesnt want to. He's not exactly living in the suburbs.
@@samanthaw1419my closest neighbours are almost a kilometre down the road. I don’t think they’re gonna be too bothered by a couple more people sharing my 5 acres..
And as for the concrete, why would that bother you as a neighbour? You’ll never see it and it wouldn’t be close enough to affect you in any way? Just curious
Looove all the new additions!
Welcome to the fam Steven!!!
Cool,to have friends…..my suggestion is to keep the land yours……just charge rent if you have to………so when and if you need or want anyone to leave at anytime you can ask them to leave!!!!! Love that you're making your own community there. Just wanted to make sure you have checked all council regulations for having tiny homes etc with your state and local council. Thank you, such a lovely thing to say!
Cat Stevens always said watch out for those moon shadows. I have several of his original albums. I am not old but someone called me old and cranky last month so time will tell. I like the kitchen cabinets just as they are. What a deal you got!
I drove a John Deere tractor for about fifteen years on a larger property and always enjoyed trenching the most.
Look forward to seeing the shop emerge and the tiny home become a reality.
Loved everything about this video 😂❤
Thanks for the lovely comment!!
Max, probably not the best idea to have backfilled the trench with rocks, as my experience in the construction industry has seen a lot of poly-pipe being crushed and severed using rock as backfill, then running over that rock backfill with the excavator. Usually you are supposed to put a layer of river sand in the bottom of the trench, place the pipe and then cover the pipe with more river sand. Finally the las 100mm minimum you backfill with the soil from the trench with no rocks. Fingers are crossed you haven't damaged that poly pipe!
Oops! Thanks for the info!
@@MaxandOccy No worries I'm really hoping you succeed with the property and your plans for it. Just another thing I'll mention, is to check and double check what the zoning regs are with your local Council, regarding Tiny Homes, what is allowed and what isn't, access to bring the Tiny Home up the road leading to your property, the need to advise neighbours of any heavy transit trucks trailering a Tiny home to your property, etc.
Some Australian states have weird laws regarding putting a tiny Home on your land, on top of that some councils then again also have different requirements compared the state ones as well. Some councils allow you to have a trailable Tiny Home for short stays or for your permanent main accommodation but you have to leave the wheels on the trailer to allow the Tiny Home to be classed as a "Caravan". Other councils require you to put down slabs and piers to sit the Tiny Home on, run water and power to it (again, permits required for that) but then for the permission to put the Tiny Home in, you now have to pay extra council rates on the "dwelling" as it means more revenue to the council, Council Waste Services have to pickup an extra bin on Bin Days, etc!!
Not wanting to be a contrarian with this, but I remember the hassles you had with someone dobbing you in a few months ago when you were working on the cabin, and someone had to come out and inspect what you were doing, so you really do need to plan this out before attempting any work as there maybe permits you have to get before doing any remedial work (concrete slab foundations, piers, Trees that are in the road, etc) and of course making sure you don't piss off the neighbours, as the Council will possibly take their point of view over yours as they've been living there longer than you have been. Unfortunately, you buy a property these days and it's still not quite all yours, someone somwhere has a hand out to allow you to do what you want! Fingers crossed this goes well for you and Occy, m8!.
So excited for you! I'm guessing you've run all these plans through your local Council?
@@MaxandOccy Usually in the UK its smaller pea gravel just to stop larger rocks from damaging the water pipes. Nice work though!
Creating a likeminded community on your property is such an awesome step forward. And a new pup for Occy to nose around with, all the better. God bless you all.
Yep, feels good!
How does a community on ones land work?
Labor for stay? Contract?
I am in new york and anyone staying for 2 weeks or more can take the owner to court and claim to stay and live on property. Even if the owner doesn't agree.
Is community different?
@@cutie-44 everything is based on the agreements and they should be in writing and legally binding. Human nature and life circumstances can change things. That’s why agreements are necessary, and even sometimes need to be amended or updated as laws change.
