David is STILL right on the mark. man...what a performer!!! He is singing....with NO music. Right on pitch....still a pro. Eddie and Dennis too. Soooooo good
I would argue that he is the single greatest front Man in recent music history.. Nobody had a Greater impact on the success of his group than David Ruffin.. I think of guys like Smokey Robinson... Lionel Richie Teddy Pendergrass Marvin Junior William Hart Russell Thompkins Jr Ronald Isley and Curtis Mayfield. David Ruffin is at the head of the class.
I actually feel like crying not becuz it's a sad song but David and Eddie are gone from us . I really couldn't grasp how powerful David was until I heard his stuff from live recordings such as this , amazed that even though he was torturing himself with drugs he was still blessed to maintain his gift , So beautiful !!!! Oh well tears are already flowing ..... :-(
I saw David sing it live in May 1991 on two separate nights and he was amazing. This clip shows him "sketching it out " in whats basically an interview.Believe the man blew to the very end,Sung a snippet of "What now my love" that night too and it was better and more powerful than his original in 1967.Absolute legend and very under appreciated !
not only did david have a great singing voice but his speaking voice was great. if he would have ever ministered he would have captured a lot of souls.
David Ruffin was the best of the best and all times, there will never be another David Ruffin out there. Even though throughout his life he battle a drug addiction, but in the music industry many did battle the same.. He was still the greastest... And that voice will never be mimic from any one....
It was also the day of my faher's funeral. This video is sooo valuable. The first time I saw the older David and Eddie before they died so soon after this was done. The Temps were my childhood idols -thanks so much for sharing.
There's nothing I don't love about David Ruffin, but when he turned around and looked at Dennis- Dennis spit out a run from the Heavens! And Eddie with his fine self is CLEAN. This video is gold.
David Ruffin was gods gift to music..he has such a soothing peaceful voice...I listen to the temps 24/7 and I play drums in a heavy metal band...but there something about Ruffin voice that I just can't stop listening to him sing
One of the greatest groups EVER!, masterful singing and vocals, the fabulous Funk Brothers doing the musical background, oh man, what a time it was for beautiful soul music. David Ruffin, could that man sing, perfect voice for the lead singer.Long live the music of Motown.
There. Will. Never be another voice that can compare to Mr David ruffin I love his voice and all the love songs he sang. His songs are timeless. Gone but never forgotten. OMG
These guys were and still are a music force. They drive the Temptations. Ruffin, had an Angel of a voice. Hope he is in heaven along with the rest. I want to hear them when I get there
What I love about him is his movements and delivery is always natural he's believable and authentic. That's from the very first footage of him til the the last.
Absolute magic. I had the video this was excerpted from ("Street Gold") and have misplaced it. This was my favorite cut. I always hoped someone would post this, and I thank you very much for doing so.
this sound and music and groups that preformed it is and will be something that will never be duplicated ever anytime I hear any of it a tingling feeling overcomes me and the world suddenly becomes a little better place I cannot thank them enough for their passion for their craft
Oh my gosh this surely is a rare and unexpected but wonderful clip. There will be those who will look to criticize but he still has a good voice and moves are still there.
Dennis Edwards Was A Great Lead, And Showman No Doubt, But David Ruffin Was "The Temptation". His Voice, His Dance Moves Were Second To None. God Damn That Crack Cocaine!!!
He died at age 50 in 1991. He was probably around 46-47 in this video. He was two years older than Dennis Edwards. David looked older due to his illness. He never lost his voice, this was just not one of his best performances. It's always good to see him no matter what.
I was wondering the same thing. When he said a young lady who was fading away. I don't think he could ever really mourn for her publicly because of all the rumors and things that was put out over the years. As long as they made peace with each other, it really doesn't matter what anyone else think. Love these guys. I wish he could of got the help he needed or found the inner peace that he may have been searching for. I wish I could have met them. Just wasn't in God's plan.
I totally agree. Paul's voice was incredible, yet there's not alot of information about him besides the obvious. He was the best Temptations. Even Otis said He will alwayz Remain the "True Temptation"
Disco--my daughter!!! LOL You keep finding all this Street Gold!!! How do you do it??? I love these clips. Got this somewhere on a VHS tape. Need to dig it out.
was david talking about tammi terrell when he said he was talking about a lady who was dear to him when he sung the song because the song was in 1967 i think didnt she break the engament in that year
I think David did fine. They are not trying to do a real performance. I look at this and think they are just reminiscing and just singing softly. They were really friends so I think they are singing like if you and your friends got together and was just singing some songs from back in the day. I think they were just having a good time.
you are right dan it seems ot me it was a remininscing per formance. if thye were reall performing like they usually do you would have niticed david voice elevated and that raspyness would have come out on some of the high point.
Well.............here we are...May 30, 2012. JUNE 1ST, 2012 WILL MARK THE 21ST ANNIVERSARY OF DAVID RUFFIN'S DEATH. JUST AS I STATED 2 YEARS AGO.............. THE GREAT DAVID RUFFIN, SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL ! LONG LIVE THE SOND OF EVERY NOTE RUFFIN EVER SANG!
David is STILL right on the mark. man...what a performer!!! He is singing....with NO music. Right on pitch....still a pro. Eddie and Dennis too. Soooooo good
The song is clearly playing in the background.
CLASS....and David Ruffin was one of the greatest frontmen of all time without a doubt.
I would argue that he is the single greatest front Man in recent music history..

Since I lost my baby" greatest tune, by the greatest singer. I miss your voice

not only did david have a great singing voice but his speaking voice was great. if he would have ever ministered he would have captured a lot of souls.
He sounded good for his age before he passed away, there will never be a voice as powerful as david's voice and rest of the temptations
Folks, you are viewing a musical masterpiece. Long live the sound of David Ruffin, the best of the best.
REST IN PEACE DENNIS EDDIE AND DAVID..THANK U 4EVER
Tyrone dont forget about Paul Williams & Melvin Franklin they also were members of the group The Temptations 💚🎶💙
@@sheiladavis6523 Who's your favorite singer of the temptations
Brought tears to my eyes. These are the men I have loved all of my life. Rest in Peace, Brothers. You are angels to me.
David Ruffin was the best of the best and all times, there will never be another David Ruffin out there. Even though throughout his life he battle a drug addiction, but in the music industry many did battle the same.. He was still the greastest... And that voice will never be mimic from any one....
This is what the voice of a TRUE GOD
GIVEN TALENT SOUNDS LIKE!!!
I can't stop watching this. David's voice was so smooth here. Eddie was cool as a fan!
Amazing voice and he makes it seem effortless. David was right in the moment, every word smooth as silk. Thanks
THIS IS TRULY A MASTERPIECE - I'M OVERWHELMED WITH GRATITUDE.
Class!! David and Eddie were unmatched then, and still to this day remain unmatched!
Three of the Greatest R&B singers to ever live..
We will probably never see that much talent on the same stage ever again.
Had to give this the thumbs up even though I feel like crying...
..such a sad clip.
He still had his charisma and magic. Moving even if it hurt. What a legend.
Miss you😥 David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks,😥 and Dennis Edwards😥 God Rest your Souls 🎤🎶🎵🎙
These men could SANG!!!!!
It was also the day of my faher's funeral. This video is sooo valuable. The first time I saw the older David and Eddie before they died so soon after this was done. The Temps were my childhood idols -thanks so much for sharing.

Since I Lost My Baby - my absolute favorite Temps tune.
David had unmatched talent and groundbreaking performances. His ompact on the music industry is immeasurable.
I Love this song. RIP Guys.
One of my greatest regrets that I never saw David Ruffin live
2019 we still miss the voice, MR DAVID RUFFIN. To bad he never had a son to fill his shoes. But we are thankful for his beautiful daughters. 💯❤️
Linda Hines : 😉!! Right you know I keep pushing the button.
Linda Hines : Yeah you know she will defend him, her and her son both are con artists. They are nothing without the name of David Ruffin.
@ Linda, It sure is a shame.
"Oh Determination! is fading fast..Inspiration is a thing of the past.". :")
Such greatness! How many of today's singers could go it without music? I know it's there but very low in the background. Still very impressive talent.
yea.. people think he lost his voice here... they don't realize that he wasn't even trying to sing... he was singing casually!!!
One of the best motown songs of all time
I couldn't agree more. What I don't understand is why "My Girl," gets more love than "Since I Lost My Baby."
These MEN COULD SING...DAVID WAS A BAD MAN STILL..RIP
beautiful example of soul at the snap of a finger........you can't fake it....these men are it!
David still had moves. Go David! I love this.

Girl, you are the best. I love this song so so much. This is my best temptations song.
Dennis Edwards Was A Great Lead, And Showman No Doubt, But David Ruffin Was "The Temptation". His Voice, His Dance Moves Were Second To None. God Damn That Crack Cocaine!!!
Growing up in New Orleans I got the opportunity to see him perform at a club called the Nite Cap Lounge, very good show ,a very down to earth person .
Simply wonderful & they sounded nice together.
Thank you for posting.............great clip!
An impromptu performance that was still memorable
what a song - timeless, honest and very sad. It still strikes a nerve after 45 years since its release.
I Love this Song 💖

"David Ruffin and the temptations...what y'all think about that?" lol
I was wondering the same thing. When he said a young lady who was fading away. All possible because the Great Smokey Robinson
🎤SING DAVID🎶🎵🎶
priceless
My Favourite Temptations Song. But Their all Classics.
I really think David knew he was going to die, look 2:34 he goes to Dennis and says this heart is hard to carry on
I totally agree.
She never said she hated it, she was saying that she had the video featuring this clip.
Did Eddie ever not look sharp? He was a fine young man, but even a more distinguished older gentleman.
THEIR BEST SONG ever !!!!
I love the way they're dressed, especially Eddie.
How I miss that era...when signing was real.
You could always hear Eddie in the background..
See, the softness he places upon his recordings compared to those presently singing it aggressive.
Gone too soon. But he does look ill, bless him.
Love it
Fantastic video,.ktf.
That is SOUND of every note Ruffin ever sang......I get to emotional to edit my post!
WOW.
was david talking about tammi terrell when he said he was talking about a lady who was dear to him when he sung the song because the song was in 1967 i think didnt she break the engament in that year
I think he was he made peace with Tammie before
She died. I'm glad.

Ain't nobody coming to see you Otis
Damn u beat me to uploading this
The woman said the video was captured on the night that America went to war with Iraq. So this was done in 1990.
oooooo yes
Why this lady interrupts the clip to talk about some fighting for a country?
u r rite
You are now watching a master at work...
how very real to me now.
no i think it was jus because of its song its a fasletto and ur right hes is older but look at his last performence i wish it would rain it way better
hry DiscoNights1987 how do u think david did in this keep it real
y do u hate it
you are right dan it seems ot me it was a remininscing per formance. if thye were reall performing like they usually do you would have niticed david voice elevated and that raspyness would have come out on some of the high point.
