*Totally impressive **Fastly.Cool** in my room. Wish I designed this myself. We can’t believe how quiet it is. It’s not as heavy as our last AC unit but it works more evenly and efficiently. Extremely happy with this purchase.*
Informative video, helped with my install. The early 80s German SynthWave Electropop house music was an odd choice for an AC install video but u guys got my vote
so it's perfectly okay to sit a weighted object like this upon the window lip seal itself? No placement of any wood under the AC unit to take the weight off of the window lip seal?
TIP: immediately after unboxing, and before installing the other parts, plug it in and let it run for 5 or 10 minutes to make sure it actually works. This way if you have to take it back to the store, you don't have a lot of pieces to take back off and repack. I learned this the hard way.
@nancylogan1466 You don't have to. Look at a Midea or Danby Inverter type U Shape Window AC. No drilling into window is done. Yes you do drill two holes on each side of frame, but it's not the frame with the glass, just the wall itself. It's very inconspicuous. It's for a support bracket that will hold the AC. U Shape AC's let you open and close the glass as usual, if you wish. I have a Danby. Wish I knew of these sooner. It's awesome having custom climate control for a few rooms that central AC won't allow. Central maintains the house. My inverter ac's let me set two rooms far cooler. If you can't do any window ACs, get a portable with dual hoses since a portable sits indoors on the floor with only the hoses needing to be placed in the window.
Useless info. If you get the bottom portion of the AC set inside the lip of the sill and the window comes down to rest behind the top of the AC, not only does this not leave enough pitch for the condensation to drain, but you have so many gaps to fill in and seal to prevent air & bug penetration. Not to mention, screwing holes into vinyl window frames compromises the windows effectiveness and voids any warranty.
This helps a lot to see how window panel curtain is installed. BTW how to remove window curtain from curtain frame, please? I am trying to install the window curtains but the frame is already installed. I am afraid to break the frame again! Thank you very much!
This was good for a single-hung window. Your title says it was for a double-hung window. My double-hung top window wants to drop down once the window lock is disengaged. Looking for answers.
@PharmAnimal1 If you want a lazy temporary solution, use a support bar/dowel to hold the top window up. You can definitely get the top window closed this way. Use one or two dowels. Place them near the perimeter sides. Won't even notice them, compared to the fact an AC will be there too. The true fix probably involves taking a look at the spiral balance rods that may have disconnected from the pivot lock shoes for the upper window, or are very loose for some reason. These are on each side of the windows. Rather easy and cheap to fix if it's a vinyl window that lets you remove a cover to access them.
I think I have the same ac unit and window type. We still get condensation because I don’t think it’s tilted enough. How do I tilt it with this type of setup??
Nobody going to mention that the air conditioner was never mounted to the window sill or the support bracket? Just two little screws holding those flimsy window curtains........
Becarefull. Newer windows aren't meant to have screws put in them. I have new Anderson windows and each box expressly said Do not attemp to install a/c in these windows. Not at all meant to have screws driven into sills / sashes/ jambs.
So what do you do? The day will come when a room just needs supplemental AC in addition to the central air. Sure you can use a portable AC unit (get dual hoses). I'm just going to say get a U Shape Inverter Window AC. I got a Danby. It only needed two drilled holes on the sides through the wood wall frame for the AC support bracket. The U Shape AC puts no weight or pressure on the glass. All weight is resting upon the support bracket. You can still open the window if you want. I'm glad I found one. I didn't want to drill holes into my windows either. Also these inverter ACs are quiet. The two brands I see are Midea and Danby. I know LG has inverter window ACs, but I have only found Midea and Danby offering basically clones of the U shape ACs.
This is no help at all. i can't drill holes in my aluminum windows!!!!!!!!!! And you haven't told me how to keep someone from pulling the TOP window down and crawling into my home through the opening there. And geez, that music is AWFUL.

Great tip!
I can't get over how good the music is 💯💯
I have heard you shouldn't drill holes in vinyl windows.

Excellent video. It has been very illustrative and easy to follow. Thank you very much, sir. 👍
"After trying to do it
myself, I am truly happy with the video and the easy-to-use way to do it. Thank♥︎You.
So where is the part where you secure the AC to the window sill?

ON REPLACEMENT WINDOWS , when you screw the skirts in to the window YOU MOST LIKELY TO CRACK THE GLASS.....be aware how far the screw goes into

This music is amazing

Thank you very much and Happy New Year 🇺🇲
And replace window afterwards

Won't the rain go through that foam?

Came here to see what they do with the window lip, didn't care when I started looking down from outer space
Okay…. Mine leaked into the house with these instructions ☹️
All the windows in my house are 3ft except the one I need to install the ac in which is 4ft. FML
hung windows, not sliding windows
Look at that toilet paper praise the Lord 💯💯
why not narrate instead of useless outer space music? you know your audio is bad when you turn it off to understand better.
