You also need to add the fact that whenever there's a new generation console out, not everyone jumps on the bandwagon immediately. Older generation consoles are still being manufactured and still stick around for a few years after. So it'll make sense in the long run being able to manufacture the console more cheaply.
correct and games are still made for them lol call of duty was still making games on the 360 and p23 when the ps4 and xbox one was out and even during the ps3 era the ps2 was still getting games but a lot of crap ports of games lol but it seems they will make them for like 2 years and then will stop making them
Dude, the original 20GB Xbox 360 launched at $399, but four years later, you could snag a brand-new 60GB Xbox 360 for just $249. That’s triple the storage at about 40% off! These days, though, consumers are getting totally ripped off. Imagine if the same thing happened now-a 3TB Series X for $300!
Dude look up the cost of a 3 TB SSD by itself. Sony and Microsoft sells consoles at a loss and it hasn't been a secret. Your absolutely getting your money worth. People just want things for free nowadays.

You know what`s funny - I think that MS will actually launch this sort of a half next gen console in late 2026, but it will not have any new games on it, they`ll just slightly enhance these existing Xbox One games and keep on chugging until something newer is ready, because these new new games that everyone is waiting are still 5-6 years away, like new Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Diablo`s etc.
I mean a 2tb series x wouldn't be that difficult if they didn't make it proprietary storage. They went backwards, the 360 required a mod, the one was just difficult, and the series is impossible.
1000% agree. I have both consoles but I really enjoy being able to upgrade my PS5 drive with a 2TB add on for $90 (back when Ssd was cheaper) I am a big Xbox fan but this move to proprietary storage is up in the top mistakes Xbox has made.
One of the things that made me go PC was my Xbox Ones HDD died and they basically made it non replaceable through software. Corruped after an update, and apparently is a common issue. After hours of trying to fix it, I watched videos, and like 4 months later I built my first PC. Worth it, never going back to modern consoles. Xbox is still a broken brick due to needing custom firmware that did not want to take even after formatting correctly.
@@arcadeportal32 I mean outside of having to wait for microsoft to put out the official update because you put your console on the insider program, I can't think of any downside to an ssd upgrade for the one s and x. Which is probably where you ran into issues.
@@Tagiau It is an OG Xbox One, after an update it constantly needed to be factory reset every time you turned on the console. Games would be there, but you would have to go through the process each time. It was annoying enough I tried to fix it myself with a new drive and partitioning it. But the update files Microsoft provided didn't take. So it works in a way, but it take so long to turn on I decided to just build a PC. No update or reset fixed the issue.

Have you seen the DF breakdowns and how massive of an upgrade the PS5pro is? If I can sell my ps5 for around $400 and get the upgrade for around $300 I'd say its absolutely worth it. Look at the price of gpus, performance is not cheap
The Xbox upgrade isn't really meant for owners of a series to upgrade. It's essentially a more cost effective model in terms of the series X and a proper upgrade of storage on the series S. People who have a series s, should buy storage and series X owners are fine where they are at
It’s totally worth the upgrade if you want a substantial gain in performance without building a more expensive pc, and being in the comfort of your living room playing on a 65”+ OLED tv.

I could be wrong but to sale your ps5 $400 knowing people that don’t have a PlayStation 5 why would anyone buy a used one knowing the Pro as you’d said offers more? If you want a second ps5 one for home and one to travel with I guess that’ll make sense but to trade up and still having to buy the disc drive and more memory which you’re definitely going to need with the digital downloads I mean it’s your money but there’s no games I’m playing multiplayer on on the PS5.
They could potentially recreate it if they released their next gen a full year before Sony again, and had some seriously good games to back it up. But that’s the real issue, AAA developers just don’t make decent games anymore.

Absolutely agree I am a massive PS fan but my best gaming memories were in the 360 peak Xbox live days on games like Halo 2 ❤ damn I miss those days it was incredible it’s so sad to see where gaming has went with battle pass games and micro transactions and half assed games and terrible “AAA” games

I think that that’s kinda the play you can get a mid level pc and play some serious games/pc games all you want and use the Xbox for other stuff not to mention being able to hop on the couch and play is dope

I have to agree with Matt. There is no point in the redesign unless you feel the need to have the newest thing. It doesn't have any noticeable difference. It was pointless on the part of Microsoft. The investment in the redesign should have been used to hurry along the progress of the next Gen console and get it to market ASAP. Full disclosure: I'm still running a 2013 Xbox One as I haven't seen the need to upgrade yet. Once the next gen releases I will buy one though. Obviously I'm not a big time gamer. More so someone who believes in practicality. I'm also someone who has never owned a Playstation.
From their PoV it makes perfect sense. The cooler, board, and SoC are all cheaper to manufacture and it even comes with a slight upside to the customer of slightly lower power consumption. Meanwhile, Microsoft gets to save $10 or however much it is on each console sold. Might not sound like much for just one but once you multiply that by the 10 million units if not more that they'd sell in the next 2-3 years that is now $100 Million dollars they have saved which is quite substantial.
Got an XBOX X for my son last Christmas (on sale $400 Best Buy). He is 22 and loves it. Plug and play 1440p @ 60fps. For the price you just can't beat it.
@ yes you can use 120hz at 1080p with hdmi 2.0 But if you want any higher resolution like 1440p at 120hz or 4k at 120hz you need hdmi 2.1. The Xbox or PlayStation won’t allow 1440p at 120hz at the same time without HDMI 2.1.

Series x is the worst currently having problem with the NAT type strict issue I have done everything to get it to open still strict no matter what I do..
Microsoft got lucky too that the PS5 pro was kind of a joke. The insane price for (from what I’ve heard and seen) basically an unnoticeable difference between the normal PS5.
@ they would get ridiculed too. Just like Sony got ridiculed for making a PlayStation “pro” barely any more powerful than the normal PlayStation. They are making the smart choice by not doing it. As they will likely release their next generation a whole year before Sony which is why they didn’t release a pro version of the console.
I switched to PC 2 years ago. I recently felt bad for my Xbox X so I decided to play BO6 on it. OMG 😮 the input lag was so noticably bad that I couldn't play it at all. I don't remember it being so laggy. If I was strafing left and right, on screen I was always one second and one step behind. Aiming was impossible and I kept shooting the sky being with the right it left shoulder depending on which way I was moving. I really hope eventually console is able to be as seamless as PC.
Mistake #1: you're already the underdog and instead of focusing on making things easier for devs you decide to release two different consoles, creating even more complications Mistake #2: is apparent now that xbox dev kit is way more complicated than ps's, as the nonexistent performance differences while having superior hardware for most of the gen showed Mistake #3: releasing a low option means you can't make the base console the new entry point and release a pro model, which leaves you behind when your competition does it Mistake #4: not dropping the prices so at least your offering sounds enticing enough Mistake #5: waste resources in an internal redesign late, 2 years after the competition did it, and already being outpowered by the competition
And that's leaving aside the most important problem: the games Xbox has been very disappointing this generation in terms of first party titles, Microsoft is a disaster honestly
They released the Normal & Pro version from the get go, how's that not obvious? The next gen gaming machine for me will be a PC. The PS5 Pro showed me how much more sense it makes to build a PC and upgrade components when I want instead of buying a whole new machine.
One cool thing about Xbox Series X is that it can still play music CDs lol. It can still recognize and set up the album and tracks downloaded to show the playlist like if you were using Windows Media Center on XP or Windows 7. I wish you could still download the music and save it as storage like with the original Xbox. GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas was awesome to have your own soundtrack stored in your drive to play them. I tried to play a CD in my PS5 it is not able to do that lol. I miss the old days where PS1 was a music player as well, if you still have a PS1 to pop in that CD.
7:00 They probably want the next gen of xbox out sooner than planned due to the issues the Series S has caused with development on their platform. The S is a great idea in theory but in execution I'm not so sure its lived up to its unrealistic expectations that Microsoft set for it. Next gen Xbox releases and todays Series X becomes tomorrows Series S which justifies the redesign. I would be interesting if that becomes the new norm if they continue to make consoles.

I never understood why sony would price the pro at 700 but now i do. Theres no competition, if a 2tb xbox series x is 600 dollars, and youre sony, you have a more powerful hardware and now youre using AI to upscale. 700 starts to look like a reasonable price compared to what the competition is offering.
I'm not bothering with PS5 Pro I have a 4K TV without any super fast refresh rates It would be pointless to have a PS 5 pro unless I want to see plenty of screen tearing and the only way I could see that it was running over 60 frames a second is if I had a frame counter
They made the cooler cheaper, and they removed components from the board. This didn't take R&D, this took Jeff to pull up some other variant of cooler they already had planned and give it the go ahead because the chip meets the thermal envelope. This is a cost saving and performance improving measure. They could release a new device in 2 years still. Xbox One support lasted for over a decade! Why would they think they shouldn't release a refresh 2 years before a new product? That's silly.
With Gamepass and cloud gaming they could support the Xbox Series consoles for years to come . Just because there's a new console coming out doesn't mean that they have to drop Gamepass for the current Xbox as soon as it happens , Gamepass subscriptions is really what matters to Microsoft . They offer it on lowly Amazon Fire sticks , they could continue it on the Series consoles indefinitely .

I don't think cost reduction mystifies gamers quite as much as what is presented here. If you take the $20 or $30 savings estimated here and times it by even 5 or 6m units, that's a lot of freaking money. This isn't something that existing Xbox owners upgrade to, it's just the option that will be available for buyers going forward. It isn't crazy for Xbox not to talk about it, if the size or performance doesn't change it isn't really a selling point. I don't think it has any bearing on their next-gen plans either, this is a change you could make with only a year left to go if the numbers work out right. Look at the PS3 Super Slim that launched just a year before the PS4.
The fact that they have been sending out surveys to devs regarding why they are not comfortable developing for xbox says everything. At this point even if they had released an upgraded console with the same price to match ps 5 pro it still wouldn’t sell well. Because there are no exclusives. Even the common big releases are often delayed because of series s. Next generation needs to kill of series s. At this point I would rather they just go into prebuilts
Well considering I’m positive I have a hardware issue with my Series X that is out of warranty, I ordered the new 2tb version. I do agree it’s far too expensive but given how much it gets used and that I have the means, I can justify it. I’m pretty sure there were some QC issues during the pandemic that affected quite a few (but not enough to recall) consoles leading to overheating issues. Unfortunately, these issues are only really brought on by certain games (Starfield is a big one).
Matt is right though, why spend $600 on an “upgraded” Xbox with more storage while i can just go get a storage expansion card for $150 and get my 2 TB that way?
This whole generation has been a mess, in all honesty. With the supply not meeting the demand and now that there are tons of these consoles, out in the market, there is just absolutely no need to trade in your PS4/Xbox one and “upgrade” Again, 50% of PlayStation’s player base is still on a PS4, not sure about Xbox, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s somewhat the same for them. Like, we’re damn near 5 years into these consoles and we’re still just not seeing any benefits to get these consoles, you are not getting any better performance, quick resume is valid, I guess, but other than that, you’re still locked on 30fps (which is fine) The games coming out for it aren’t interesting, at all, unless you’re an indie nerd or have the disposable income to sign up for a monthly subscription to play thousands of games. Like, it is not hitting as great as it used to, there is no longer that excitement of getting the new console.

The thing is PlayStation sold their stock of v1.0 consoles like cupcakes compared to Xbox. Xbox just finished selling the original series X. So now they come with their redesign.
This has probably been ready for a couple years, but given the poor sales performance, they've been trying to just get rid of over stocked parts for the original design.
It's hard watching this now knowing why xbox did this and was super smart because it will perform just as good as a PS5 pro because they knew the software/engine side is going to do what it claimed it would.
If it's a less expensive redesign for them then why am I paying 100 bucks more for it? I have physical games that I can't play on the 50 dollars cheaper empty box. The E-Box.
I don't care if the PS5 Pro is better than the Xbox Series X. I am a diehard Xbox fan. I have bought my Xbox Series X 2TB already and will buy the new Xbox when it is released as well. Thanks for the info and love the channel.
Don’t forget they aren’t fighting in the console wars anymore so they are going to start following their own cadence on release. Xbox is more focused on Game Pass and having their games available on any device. I wouldn’t be surprised if Series X ends up being around as long as if not longer than the first gen Switch eventually becoming the budget option once a more powerful console arrives kinda like how previous gen iPhones stay available but drop in price. Streaming and AI are going to be a huge part of how XBox works in the future allowing older gen consoles to still be able to play XBox games for years to come and still look good.
They did it because the Series consoles aren't just going away in 2 years. We're 4 years into this generation AND THEY'RE STILL MAKING XBOX ONE AND PS4 GAMES! Xbox knows they'll continue selling Series consoles for the next 5-7 years.
@@weplayvrgames if anything we need another player in the console industry. i agree that xbox is not good right now. im sad about it because the og xbox was fantastic and brought proper online and internal storage to the table, the 360 set the current benchmark for online and the xbox one set the bar for how much you can hate a console. ive spent more time on a CDi than a XBone. At this point the Ps and XSeries are the same pc at heart. There are no consoles anymore. Just give in to the Pc master race and have a switch on the side.
How about this 1 year of dev for mvp of new xbox 1-3 years for the release of new xbox. This would cover for any potential losses in a delay in release
I think they were going to redesign a full series x pro but a year ago decided to scrap that and just add these minor upgrades in a standard shell then they are all in on the new Xbox and not wasting an extra 2+ years been outsold by Sony
The general population isn't going to know the difference of the processor. This is just to add extra options to the market. However, gamers may raise their eyebrows at the lack of a 'pro' version since Sony is doing it. It would be a perfect opportunity to swoop in with a more powerful Xbox and undercut the PS5 Pro by having a more reasonable price.

You know what`s funny - I think that MS will actually launch this sort of a half next gen console in late 2026, but it will not have any new games on it, they`ll just slightly enhance these existing Xbox One games and keep on chugging until something newer is ready, because these new new games that everyone is waiting are still 5-6 years away, like new Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Diablo`s etc.
I mean a 2tb series x wouldn't be that difficult if they didn't make it proprietary storage. They went backwards, the 360 required a mod, the one was just difficult, and the series is impossible.
1000% agree. I have both consoles but I really enjoy being able to upgrade my PS5 drive with a 2TB add on for $90 (back when Ssd was cheaper) I am a big Xbox fan but this move to proprietary storage is up in the top mistakes Xbox has made.

One of the things that made me go PC was my Xbox Ones HDD died and they basically made it non replaceable through software. Corruped after an update, and apparently is a common issue. After hours of trying to fix it, I watched videos, and like 4 months later I built my first PC. Worth it, never going back to modern consoles. Xbox is still a broken brick due to needing custom firmware that did not want to take even after formatting correctly.
@@arcadeportal32 I mean outside of having to wait for microsoft to put out the official update because you put your console on the insider program, I can't think of any downside to an ssd upgrade for the one s and x. Which is probably where you ran into issues.
@@Tagiau It is an OG Xbox One, after an update it constantly needed to be factory reset every time you turned on the console. Games would be there, but you would have to go through the process each time. It was annoying enough I tried to fix it myself with a new drive and partitioning it. But the update files Microsoft provided didn't take. So it works in a way, but it take so long to turn on I decided to just build a PC. No update or reset fixed the issue.

Have you seen the DF breakdowns and how massive of an upgrade the PS5pro is? If I can sell my ps5 for around $400 and get the upgrade for around $300 I'd say its absolutely worth it. Look at the price of gpus, performance is not cheap
The Xbox upgrade isn't really meant for owners of a series to upgrade. It's essentially a more cost effective model in terms of the series X and a proper upgrade of storage on the series S. People who have a series s, should buy storage and series X owners are fine where they are at
It’s totally worth the upgrade if you want a substantial gain in performance without building a more expensive pc, and being in the comfort of your living room playing on a 65”+ OLED tv.

I could be wrong but to sale your ps5 $400 knowing people that don’t have a PlayStation 5 why would anyone buy a used one knowing the Pro as you’d said offers more? If you want a second ps5 one for home and one to travel with I guess that’ll make sense but to trade up and still having to buy the disc drive and more memory which you’re definitely going to need with the digital downloads I mean it’s your money but there’s no games I’m playing multiplayer on on the PS5.

They could potentially recreate it if they released their next gen a full year before Sony again, and had some seriously good games to back it up. But that’s the real issue, AAA developers just don’t make decent games anymore.

Absolutely agree I am a massive PS fan but my best gaming memories were in the 360 peak Xbox live days on games like Halo 2 ❤ damn I miss those days it was incredible it’s so sad to see where gaming has went with battle pass games and micro transactions and half assed games and terrible “AAA” games

Got a Series X when they came out and have felt no reason to "upgrade". Play all my serious games on PC and the Xbox is for media and Game Pass.

I have to agree with Matt. There is no point in the redesign unless you feel the need to have the newest thing. It doesn't have any noticeable difference. It was pointless on the part of Microsoft. The investment in the redesign should have been used to hurry along the progress of the next Gen console and get it to market ASAP.
Full disclosure: I'm still running a 2013 Xbox One as I haven't seen the need to upgrade yet. Once the next gen releases I will buy one though. Obviously I'm not a big time gamer. More so someone who believes in practicality. I'm also someone who has never owned a Playstation.

From their PoV it makes perfect sense. The cooler, board, and SoC are all cheaper to manufacture and it even comes with a slight upside to the customer of slightly lower power consumption. Meanwhile, Microsoft gets to save $10 or however much it is on each console sold. Might not sound like much for just one but once you multiply that by the 10 million units if not more that they'd sell in the next 2-3 years that is now $100 Million dollars they have saved which is quite substantial.
Microsoft is just pulling an Apple.
Got an XBOX X for my son last Christmas (on sale $400 Best Buy). He is 22 and loves it. Plug and play 1440p @ 60fps. For the price you just can't beat it.
I got a monitor that has HDMI 2.1 so I can do 1440p and 120fps at the same and it’s awesome

@ yes you can use 120hz at 1080p with hdmi 2.0 But if you want any higher resolution like 1440p at 120hz or 4k at 120hz you need hdmi 2.1. The Xbox or PlayStation won’t allow 1440p at 120hz at the same time without HDMI 2.1.

You are technically correct..... however what they are getting at is the soul purpose of removing advertisements, yes it's a sponsorship but they are still technically still advertising a product for you to consider buying like anything else.

Series x is the worst currently having problem with the NAT type strict issue I have done everything to get it to open still strict no matter what I do..
Microsoft got lucky too that the PS5 pro was kind of a joke. The insane price for (from what I’ve heard and seen) basically an unnoticeable difference between the normal PS5.

@ they would get ridiculed too. Just like Sony got ridiculed for making a PlayStation “pro” barely any more powerful than the normal PlayStation. They are making the smart choice by not doing it. As they will likely release their next generation a whole year before Sony which is why they didn’t release a pro version of the console.
I switched to PC 2 years ago. I recently felt bad for my Xbox X so I decided to play BO6 on it. OMG 😮 the input lag was so noticably bad that I couldn't play it at all. I don't remember it being so laggy. If I was strafing left and right, on screen I was always one second and one step behind. Aiming was impossible and I kept shooting the sky being with the right it left shoulder depending on which way I was moving. I really hope eventually console is able to be as seamless as PC.
Mistake #1: you're already the underdog and instead of focusing on making things easier for devs you decide to release two different consoles, creating even more complications
Mistake #2: is apparent now that xbox dev kit is way more complicated than ps's, as the nonexistent performance differences while having superior hardware for most of the gen showed
Mistake #3: releasing a low option means you can't make the base console the new entry point and release a pro model, which leaves you behind when your competition does it
Mistake #4: not dropping the prices so at least your offering sounds enticing enough
Mistake #5: waste resources in an internal redesign late, 2 years after the competition did it, and already being outpowered by the competition
And that's leaving aside the most important problem: the games
Xbox has been very disappointing this generation in terms of first party titles, Microsoft is a disaster honestly
They released the Normal & Pro version from the get go, how's that not obvious? They saw the recession and econmoic crisis and opted to give us a cheap version and rather than praise them, here you are saying this is a mistake....don't go crying when the next gen is $1000 🤷♂ The consumer is always right, but in this case they are wrong. The series S is the only console that makes sense other than the Switch, alas consumers are morons.
#1 Series S proved it can run all games, it's just devs are lazy and want hardware to do their work for them. #2, no way is PS easier than Xbox, but since it has the bigger marketshare, obviously devs will give it priority. #3, the 1st paragraph. #4, That's literally what Series S is for!
#5, obviously you never heard about cloud gaming and xCloud where saving on electricity over thousands of server blades translates to cheaper costs to run the service.

Xbox already announced that their new generation starts in 2026 with the console being shown to the public this December.
It's a hand held in 2026 and console 2028 or later. Their still making games work on xbox one. So new console now useless when the games run on old gen

To be fair even if they release a new Xbox onto the market in 2 years, it will be 4 years before consumers can buy them for retail.
The next gen gaming machine for me will be a PC. The PS5 Pro showed me how much more sense it makes to build a PC and upgrade components when I want instead of buying a whole new machine.

One cool thing about Xbox Series X is that it can still play music CDs lol. It can still recognize and set up the album and tracks downloaded to show the playlist like if you were using Windows Media Center on XP or Windows 7. I wish you could still download the music and save it as storage like with the original Xbox. GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas was awesome to have your own soundtrack stored in your drive to play them.
I tried to play a CD in my PS5 it is not able to do that lol. I miss the old days where PS1 was a music player as well, if you still have a PS1 to pop in that CD.

The S is a great idea in theory but in execution I'm not so sure its lived up to its unrealistic expectations that Microsoft set for it. Next gen Xbox releases and todays Series X becomes tomorrows Series S which justifies the redesign. I would be interesting if that becomes the new norm if they continue to make consoles.

I never understood why sony would price the pro at 700 but now i do. Theres no competition, if a 2tb xbox series x is 600 dollars, and youre sony, you have a more powerful hardware and now youre using AI to upscale. 700 starts to look like a reasonable price compared to what the competition is offering.

I'm not bothering with PS5 Pro I have a 4K TV without any super fast refresh rates It would be pointless to have a PS 5 pro unless I want to see plenty of screen tearing and the only way I could see that it was running over 60 frames a second is if I had a frame counter

They made the cooler cheaper, and they removed components from the board. This didn't take R&D, this took Jeff to pull up some other variant of cooler they already had planned and give it the go ahead because the chip meets the thermal envelope. This is a cost saving and performance improving measure. They could release a new device in 2 years still. Xbox One support lasted for over a decade! Why would they think they shouldn't release a refresh 2 years before a new product? That's silly.
With Gamepass and cloud gaming they could support the Xbox Series consoles for years to come . Just because there's a new console coming out doesn't mean that they have to drop Gamepass for the current Xbox as soon as it happens , Gamepass subscriptions is really what matters to Microsoft . They offer it on lowly Amazon Fire sticks , they could continue it on the Series consoles indefinitely .

I don't think cost reduction mystifies gamers quite as much as what is presented here. If you take the $20 or $30 savings estimated here and times it by even 5 or 6m units, that's a lot of freaking money. This isn't something that existing Xbox owners upgrade to, it's just the option that will be available for buyers going forward. It isn't crazy for Xbox not to talk about it, if the size or performance doesn't change it isn't really a selling point. I don't think it has any bearing on their next-gen plans either, this is a change you could make with only a year left to go if the numbers work out right. Look at the PS3 Super Slim that launched just a year before the PS4.

The fact that they have been sending out surveys to devs regarding why they are not comfortable developing for xbox says everything. At this point even if they had released an upgraded console with the same price to match ps 5 pro it still wouldn’t sell well. Because there are no exclusives. Even the common big releases are often delayed because of series s. Next generation needs to kill of series s.

Well considering I’m positive I have a hardware issue with my Series X that is out of warranty, I ordered the new 2tb version. I do agree it’s far too expensive but given how much it gets used and that I have the means, I can justify it. I’m pretty sure there were some QC issues during the pandemic that affected quite a few (but not enough to recall) consoles leading to overheating issues. Unfortunately, these issues are only really brought on by certain games (Starfield is a big one).
PS5 PRO + PC + Famicom AV + MISTer FPGA. Nothing else needed really

This whole generation has been a mess, in all honesty. With the supply not meeting the demand and now that there are tons of these consoles, out in the market, there is just absolutely no need to trade in your PS4/Xbox one and “upgrade”
Again, 50% of PlayStation’s player base is still on a PS4, not sure about Xbox, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s somewhat the same for them.

The games coming out for it aren’t interesting, at all, unless you’re an indie nerd or have the disposable income to sign up for a monthly subscription to play thousands of games. Like, it is not hitting as great as it used to, there is no longer that excitement of getting the new console.
The thing is PlayStation sold their stock of v1.0 consoles like cupcakes compared to Xbox. Xbox just finished selling the original series X. So now they come with their redesign.

Don’t forget they aren’t fighting in the console wars anymore so they are going to start following their own cadence on release. Xbox is more focused on Game Pass and having their games available on any device. I wouldn’t be surprised if Series X ends up being around as long as if not longer than the first gen Switch eventually becoming the budget option once a more powerful console arrives kinda like how previous gen iPhones stay available but drop in price. Streaming and AI are going to be a huge part of how XBox works in the future allowing older gen consoles to still be able to play XBox games for years to come and still look good.

I think they were going to redesign a full series x pro but a year ago decided to scrap that and just add these minor upgrades in a standard shell then they are all in on the new Xbox and not wasting an extra 2+ years been outsold by Sony
The general population isn't going to know the difference of the processor. This is just to add extra options to the market.
However, gamers may raise their eyebrows at the lack of a 'pro' version since Sony is doing it. It would be a perfect opportunity to swoop in with a more powerful Xbox and undercut the PS5 Pro by having a more reasonable price.
Traded in my launch day XSX for the new 2TB XSX galaxy. And, kept my 1TB card from my previous XSX. Suck it nerds!
