The best performance for me so far. Even during the loudest passages voices remain musical. The embellishments perfectly rendered. What a gift to all of us to be able to enjoy this work. Bravo to all musicians and the fine conductor.
Can anyone not love this? No. For me it is recognition, memories of the past, feelings of joy, but also of sorrow. I first heard this when I was 20, and it has followed me through life. And when I hear this superb uptaking, I almost burst out into tears. Both the soprano and the countertenor are wonderful , and the orchestra, well, if I say they are good, no, it is not enough, they are breathtaking!

An exquisite performance. I'm wowed by Carlos Mena's technical skill, for instance in that run of trilled notes. I haven't heard another countertenor render them that well.
Yes, Im sure now, I love Ana Quintans voice. Just straight when it should be straight, and then with a little vibrato when its necessary. And her voice can expand to great dimensions! I think big vibratos hasnt anything to do with Barock Music. Of course its a matter of taste, but this is my taste.
In barock music it is a different way to treat vibratos, of course, often they are a part of the dramatic expression, and then it is good, as when Ana sings. I have to make this statement, so you dont think I dont like vibratos at all. But in operas we often hear singers with big big vibratos. I sort of hate that.
I have for example tried to listen to Anna Netrebko and Marianna Pizzolato in Stabat Mater. No, no, no! Too much sugar, and too much cream. And too much vibrato. They totally miss the fine texture there is in a fine barock version. Like this one.
And a special BIG THANK YOU! to the women solist, she is just out of this world! I dont know her name, the list of the musicians are all the ones in the orchestra, but not the solists. I cant find the solists name anywhere. Anyhow, I cant stop listen to her voice!
That is very subjective. The lady sitting next to me could not stand her voice at all. And be honest the voice was much to loud compared to the rest of the musicians.
@@HarpsichordVinylGallery OK, the lady sitting next to you could not stand Ana Quintans voice, and you yourself think her voice was much to loud. I dont disagree with you, I wasn´t there, I just think that in my earphones her voice is just perfect. But you have of course the right to another opinion. And yes, it is very subjective. Were you there?

The two fantastic voices and the orchestra give us one interpretation of Stabat Mater ever hearing. Bravo!!

Fantastische contratenor Carlos Mena,
DANK
A very moving performance. Wunderschön!
Great performance at one of the best music festivals in Europe, Early Music Festival 2019 (Festival Oude Muziek)
Subliem! Beyond words!
Divine!💖

Bravissimo.
i can't understand a single word but oh the pain... this is the saddest thing i've ever listened.

I thought her voice was shrill.
