Also in Sleeping Dogs you had Lucy Liu who played Vivienne , and Tom Wilkinson who was the voice of your boss. It was a pretty stacked cast.
I loved hearing Tom Wilkinson's voice in Sleeping Dogs, Rush Hour is one of my favourite films so I recognised his voice immediately, felt like an Easter egg
Wasn't Emma stone Lucy in ac 1 2 and brotherhood
@Enzo's Library you are indeed correct.
Seeing Tom Wilkinson in a game was a big surprise but a neat one. ☺️💛💜
Lucy Liu was iconic in Kill Bill
Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean voice acting in Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion will never not be bizarre to me
You can also add in the OG Wonder woman, Linda Carter, because her husband is the CEO of zenimax
@@themegagamer6086 you guys both beat me to it. 😄 Lynda Carter has done a lot of voice acting for Bethesda, having been in every Elder Scrolls game since Morrowind. Her biggest contribution was Oblivion, though she only has one role in Skyrim. While Sir Patrick Stewart's voice stands out as Emperor Uriel Septim, I did not realise Sean Bean was Martin during my first playthrough. He really softened his accent and doesn't project near as much as Borormir or Sharpe.
Yeah, but it doesn't fit the theme because they are instantly recognizable. I mean maybe you could miss Bean if you weren't paying attention, but Patrick Stewart's voice is iconic.
Whoever made the graphic for Mike's public service announcement deserves a raise.
It might have been Mike...still deserves a raise though.
Dishonored has a pretty stacked cast. Lena Headey, Susan Sarandon, Rosario Dawson, Pedro Pascal, Vincent D'Onofrio, Carrie Fisher, John Slattery, Chloe Grace Moretz.
Jesus Christ, I had no idea the game was that star studded. I gotta replay it again!
They’re not all in the first game, some of them names mentioned are only in the 2nd game.
Lena - Callisto.
Susan - Granny Rags.
Carrie - Alternate Street Speaker, if you don’t kill the original speaker, you wouldn’t hear her as she’s the replacement.
John - Admiral Havelock.
Chloe - Emily.
Rosario Dawson - Mainly Dishonoured 2 as Meagan Foster and Billie Lurk but she started as Billie in DotO.
Pedro Pascal - D2, he plays Paolo.
Vincent - D2, Duke Luca and Armando.
To add a few from the 1st game I thought were cool.
Michael Madsen - Daud
April Stewart (Stans Mom and Wendy from South Park) - The Empress
Brad Dourif (Wormtongue from LOTR and Chucky from Childs Play) - Piero Joplin
Roger Jackson (Ghostfaces Voice from the Scream series) - Sokolov
@@oKApplejack that is wild
shocked they didnt mention this one
If you kill the propaganda broadcaster in Dunwall, he is replaced by a female officer voiced by Carrie Fisher.
I remember being surprised by Jenna Coleman playing Melia in the Xenoblade Chronicles games, and Chloe Grace Moretz playing Emily in the first Dishonored.
eggs
Who?
Coleman was in a tiny role in the MCU and more in Dr who, think she crops up all over these days, Moretz was huge as a surprisingly young surprisingly pottymouthed assassin in Kick-Ass and sequel. I recall there being something with a Louis CK film that never released due to Louis CK weirdness and harassment offences coming to light at the same time?
She's (Moretz) got a thriller out on a major streaming platform right now, think it's a series.
I was wondering who Coleman is.
That was the most surprising voice in Dishonored for you? You never murdered the propaganda guy, did you?
I spent the entire time in Omega (Mass Effect) wondering why Aria sounded so familiar, only to find out that it was Trinity herself: Carrie Ann Moss
There were SO many famous actors in the Mass Effect series.
The Mass Effect Trilogy did not only have Carrie Ann Moss but also the likes of Martin Sheen, Yvonne Strahovski from Chuck, Marina Sirtis from Star Trek The Next Generation, Lance Henriksen, Keith David, Michael Hogan from Battlestar Galactica, even freaking Adam Baldwin played the Quarian Kal’Reegar in Mass Effect 2, Shoreh Aghdashloo from Season 4 of 24 and Amazon’s The Expanse, Seth Green and also Steve Blum.
I didn't know that one! Aria's voice is soo good, it really makes justice to her character with a constant tone of threat to every word
@@Johnny-ux7yi don't forget Claudia Black who voiced Admiral Xen.
A personal favourite of mine is Charles Dance voicing Emperor Emhyr var Emeris in The Witcher 3.
Holy crap.. i just realized that. Emperor's voice was very familiar.i just started playing witcher 3 earlier lol
Wait... what
gotta say, elder scrolls online had me checking imdb so often with the abundance of "wait i know that voice!" moments
you got bill nighy, kate beckinsale, peter stormare, michael gambon, alfred molina, malcolm mcdowell, john cleese, lynda carter, and billy boyd! absolutely cracked cast tbh
Even Skyrim had a few big names in surprising roles, too.
Oh yeah, ESO's credits are really unexpected!
And the voice of the writer of the investigator vale books was recently in episode 3 of the Bad batch season 2
Elder Scrolls 4 had Patrick Stewart, Sean Bean, and Lynda Carter.
Wait. Malcolm McDowell & John Cleese are in ESO? Where can I find them?
I've got a couple entries for a potential part 2:
Jenna Coleman of Doctor Who fame was the English voice of Melia in Xenoblade Chronicles
Mark Hamill also did the English voice of Goro Majima in the original PS2 release of Yakuza
Stephen Colbert took over announcing duties from Steve Carell in Outlaw Tennis
Joe Dempsie from Game of Thrones as Ardbert in Final Fantasy 14.
I am certain Mark Hamill is in every IP ever
@@TheRedMage01 I play with JP audio so I didn't know that one~
Mark Hamill was Majima? Holy hell. He was also the joker in batman arkham games and the watcher in darksiders 1. The man gets around and nails every role.
Mark Hamil's Majima is iconic in the fandom
Carrie Fisher is in Dishonored. If you kill the propaganda officer in mission 6, the overhead announcements from that point on are voiced by her.
I really need to finish Dishonored. I have a bad habit of starting games, enjoying them and then getting sidetracked on work or something and for some reason If I miss a week or so before playthrough I have a hard time coming back and have to restart the game. Recently got the second game so I need to finish both.
There's also Pedro Pascal in Dishonored 2 as Paolo the leader of the Howlers Gang.
The original Saints Row series (Before the Reboot) was filled with celebrities such as Daniel Dae Kim (Johnny Gat), Michael Clarke Duncan (Original voice of Ben King), Terry *Crews (Replacement voice of Ben King), Neil Patrick Harris (Veteran Child), Keith David (Julius Little AND Keith David), and that's just to name a few off the top of my head. Fable 3 also had a fairly big celebrity cast with Simon Pegg (Ben Finn), Naomi Harris (Page), Bernard Hill (Sir Walter Beck), Adjoa Andoh (Kalin), and John Cleese (Jasper) and Jonathan Ross (Barry Hatch)
Don't forget Mayor Burt Reynolds.
@@jamisonedwards8162 Oh yeah! That also reminds me of Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan (Who played Angel)
@@scotta4564 Fair enough
@@Poppymeg Piper's "Thanks for playing." always makes me a little sad after his passing.
Is Terry Cruise Tom brother?
Here’s another: David Tennant did voice acting in Kinect Sports Rivals and Just Cause 3, both AFTER Doctor Who propelled his career. Also, Hannah John-Kamen is in Dark Souls, and Richard Madden was Alucard in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
As a huge Doctor Who fan, who has seen every available episode, I was surprised when I originally found out Tennant was the propaganda guy in JC3. I was already about half way through, with no idea it was him. Even when I realised I knew that voice, it took me a bit longer for it to click.
Dragon Age is full of big name actors, as Mulgrew & Black have already been mentioned in the comments, but I was absolutely shocked when I realised that Arl Howe was Tim Curry.
What about Star Trek Voyager's Captain Janeway AKA actress Kate Mulgrew voicing the "witch of the wilds" Flemeth in the Dragon Age series? After you play those games you cannot watch any Voyager episode without thinking, "Why did Star Fleet choose an evil sorceress to helm its experimental new starship? They had to know that that would end badly."
Starfleet's surgery sure did wonders for her Conehead. 🤣
I mean, her daughter is also a reformed space nazi. Is that better? (Morrigan is voiced by Claudia Black, who played Aeryn Sun on Farscape.)
Tim Russ is also in Dragon Age: Origins, voicing the Dalish Keeper Zathrian. And Dwight Schultz was Bodahn Feddic.
@@Kartissa Tim Russ pops up in _Horizon: Forbidden West,_ too, as a chaplain of the Tenakth tribe.
@@daviddaugherty2816 She also plays Vala Maldoran on Stargate SG1, another somewhat reformed previous morally-not-so-good guy!
Holy crap never knew Emma Stone was in Sleeping Dogs. Now that I know this, totally recognize her voice right away
Michael Fassbender being in Fable makes me love the game even more!
Fable 3 had such a wild cast. John Cleese, Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross, Jason Manford, Bernard Hill, Zoe Wanamaker, Troy Baker, Simon Pegg, Ben Kingsley, Naomie Harris, Sean Pertwee and also Liam O’Brien of CR fame
@@awesomevibesonly332 such an awesome game! Can't wait to see what they did with the new Fable 😬🤞🏼
You could make a whole video of characters in video games you didn't know were Mark Hamill. He seems to be able to provide a unique voice for every character he voices.
He and Phil LaMarr have two of the most diverse vocal ranges of any voice actor. I didn't even realise until I read the voice actor credits following my first playthroughs that Phil voiced Ratbag in the Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor / War games. Of course, to me he'll always be Hermes Conrad from Futurama!
As a child of the 80s, I was shocked to see 70s/80s pop star Sheena Easton's name in the credits of one of my favorite PC games of all time, 'Planescape: Torment', as the voice of Annah. Each time I replay that game now, I find myself listening closely to Annah's dialogue, now that I know it is Easton's voice.
It also had Keith David as Vhailor.
Wow. Bond.
David Duchovny was the main in XIII, Andy Serkis played the bad guy in heavenly sword and Dwayne The Rock Johbson was in the spy hunter remake. Those were the 3 that popped into my head
Jane's hair is flawlessly on point today, as is the revelation that Michael Fassbender was in Fable 3. Now I need to replay it, he's my favorite villainous actor. That was also the first game where I chose a female protagonist by choice. The story somehow makes more sense that way.
They need to do remasters of the 3 fable games, or come out with a good 4th one.
@Paul Radz there’s a remake coming.
@@drizztdourden666 of the first one? I came to the series when Fable 2 was a few years old, and I couldn’t make it through the first one when I went back, even “remade” for 360, because of dated mechanics/loading screens. I would love a remake that actually addressed that stuff.
@@VeronicaWarlock my bad I meant reboot(it's the autoincorrect's fault.)
@@drizztdourden666 hmmmm intriguing
Both Dishonored & Dishonored 2 had quite a few VA's that you'd be surprised to know were in the games. Including: Carrie Fisher, Robin Lord Taylor, Rosiario Dawson, Michael Madsen, and Steven Russell (also know for voicing Garrett in the Thief games)
Don't forget Susan Sarandon, Lena Heady, Brad Dourif and Chloe Moretz.
@@jimthar17 Absolutely. Both games have a ton amazing VAs
Pedro Pascal was also in Dishonored 2 as Paolo.
Kingdom Hearts is littered with more amazing talent too including Christoper Lee, Mark Hamil and Leonard Nemoy. I always find it funny that Mandy Moore voiced Aerith in Kingdom Hearts 1 but was too famous by Kingdom Hearts 3 to play Rapunzel.
Maybe she wasn’t famous enough by the time Kingdom Hearts 3 hit. Her biggest years were definitely in the early 2000s/PS2 era.
@neko samurai Disney are usually pretty good with getting the official voice actor back, so I'd say most likely case is scheduling conflicts
@@runicknight1151 They didn't even bother to ask Hayden to come back for 3. She said so in a tweet when asked if she was back she responded with 'Wasn't asked :('
Not international superstars, but Conan O'Brian and Andy Richter in Halo 3. They even did a remote segment about recording for it.
Their marines were in Halo 4, too.
How about David Boreanaz doing Leon’s voice in Kingdom Hearts and Lance Bass doing the voice of Sephiroth? Bigger shocks than Hayden being Kairi in my opinion.
Lance Bass has the honor of being the first person to voice Sephiroth which is just wild.
It makes sense they'd choose a Boy Band guy for the voice...but was Joey "Fat One" Phatone already booked or something?
And Billy Zane as the OG voice for Ansem!
Honestly, you could make an entire video on this with JUST the cast of Kingdom Hearts. There's an ABSURD amount of big name celebs and Disney stars in there.
They got CHRISTOPHER GODDAMN LEE to voice an anime scientist wearing belts on his face
@@TheThunderbirdRising EXACTLY
@@TheThunderbirdRising who’s that
@@jasonours6957 Dracula, Dooku and Saruman.
@@jasonours6957 DiZ/Ansem the Wise in Kingdom Hearts 2 and the DS Version of 358/2 Days. Corey Burton replaced him in the follow up versions and the movies/remake version of Days.
The Legend of Spyro was a weirdly star studded series 😅 not mentioned were Wayne Brady, David Spade, and Christina Ricci - loads of big names
an omission of David Spade is well made XD
You forgot Tom Kenny also.
@@tdgkt88 Tom is a kind of an on and off video game voice actor since he doesn’t do it too often but if the game is a toony one he most of the time has a role in it. Off the top of my head, he did a lot of voices for the dragons in the Reignited trilogy and Douglas and a lot of other side characters in High on Life
Also Billy West
For such a massive star, Gary Oldman shows up in video games quite often
The most shocking thing about this is learning Michael Fassbender was Irish! I had NEVER heard him speak in his native accent before now!
Right?! I always thought he was English, esp after Inglorious Basterds and X-Men
One of the most surprising celebrity VA roles I discovered a while ago is that Carrie Fisher appears in Dishonored. The only way you hear her is by killing the propaganda announcer when you return to Dunwall Tower, since she fills in the replacement role
You're probably not going to believe this. But Cherkendo from Command and Conquer 3: Red Alert was played by Tim Curry, star of Clue and Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Less well known is his role as Arl Rendon Howe in Dragon Age: Origins.
If you want a weirdly star-studded cast, there's Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure. It had a wild cast including P Diddy, Brittany Murphy, Rosario Dawson, Giovani Ribisi, and Adam West.
Can't forget Talib Kweli
Now that's a "Sin City" sequel I would have loved to see.
RZA is in it too. Yeah its insanely stacked with talent and they all do great.
Elijah Wood was also the terrifying cannibal named Kevin in Sin City. Never forgot that smile. Or the shiny glasses.
Or the whole…. Cannibal business.
He never screamed
One that immediately comes to mind is lead singer of Twisted Sister, Dee Snider, providing the voice of Gol Acheron from Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. A couple more would be Thomas F. Wilson (Biff Tannen from Back to the Future) voicing the earth elemental mask Rok-Ko, R. Lee Emery voicing the water elemental mask, Wa-Wa, and Mark Hamill voicing Py-Ro, the fire elemental mask from Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex.
Mark Strong as Titus in the first Space Marine game has to be an honourable mention!
Elijah Wood also crossed over into machinima. He voiced the AI Sigma in Season 9 of Red Vs Blue.
I'll never forget Elijah Wood as Spyro
Or was it Daniel Radcliffe?
Eliel Rood
What's also wild about Kairi is that the young version of her is voiced by Ariel Winter around the time when Modern Family was still on the air.
She also voiced a moogle in final fantasy type 0 HD she sounded like sofia the first in it which she also voiced,
And just like Hayden Panettiere, also starred in Supermassive Games' The Quarry.
A couple of examples that spring to mind are Mark Strong as Brother-Captain Titus in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, and Jenna Coleman as Melia in the Xenoblade Chronicles series.
Strong clearly has a voice for 40K; he also played Inquistor Eisenhorn in the Eisenhorn: Xenos game
Mentioned Elijah Wood and him having multiple roles but missed mentioning his role in 'Dirk Gentleys Holistic Detective Agency', where Alan Tudyk also appears. Missed an opportunity for a great show with some great roles and actors.
David Boreanaz was Kingdom Hearts' version of Final Fantasy VIII's beloved emotionally damaged child soldier Squall as Leon, but his role was much more short-lived as he only took the role for the first game.
I always wished he had come back for the second game.
I can’t believe you mentioned iconic noughties Elijah Wood roles without mentioning his starring role as The Guy in Spy Kids 3D!
Some suggestions: Jenna Coleman (Xenoblade Chronicles), Cara Delevigne (as a DJ in GTA V before she moved into acting), Burt Reynolds (GTA Vice City), Sean Connery (the From Russia with Love game - as Bond!), Samuel L Jackson (GTA San Andreas) and a pre-Oscar Rami Malek in Until Dawn.
Veteran stage and screen actress Olivia Hussey voiced Imperial TIE pilot Kasan Moor in 1998's "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron" video game. She later voiced characters in "Star Wars: Force Commander" (2000) and "Star Wars: The Old Republic" (2011)
Don’t forget the brilliant comedic work Stephen Merchant did in Portal 2. Nowadays he’s in such shows as Th The Good Place and Amazon Prime’s The Outlaws.
The British knew of Stephen Merchant very well before that.
@@VeronicaWarlock Fair point. A better example I should’ve used, and I could still have the same problem here, is Matt Ryan from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flags. Or as DC fans would know him: John Constantine.
Mike's gleeful giggle when talking about handling the protagonists of Deadly Creatures was great.
I don't know how you could miss Elijah wood as Spyro. It was literally one of the selling points of the game lol someone wasn't paying attention
Mike saying that the 40 year old virgin was based on the true story of the guy wrote jokes for the golf game made me laugh way too much
I found it stereotypical itself to label anyone who makes dumb jokes as a virgin loser. Anyone who has hung around Women long enough knows that they make even WORSE jokes about each other, but they get a pass?
@@Maniacman2030male moment
@@Maniacman2030 Just a joke, calm down
Sleeping Dogs! Let’s go! Still such a great and underrated game that so deserves that sequel.
Here I am in 2023 saying the same thing all the time.
It already ends perfectly though.
Maaan don't even get us all started 🤣
@@michaelandreipalon359 oh, it can be another storyline w different, people. Just the true crime series in general
Seriously, a fantastic game! It taught me the valuable lesson that, a man who never eats pork buns is never a whole man! 😄
In the Mass Effect series, both Keith David and Lance Henriksen provide the voices for Captain Anderson and Admiral Hackett respectively.
Along with Carrie-Ann Moss, Tricia Helfer, Marina Sirtis and Adam Baldwin and many others. Whoever cast the Mass Effect games loved their sci-fi.
And an absurd amount of actors from Star Trek.
There's also Martin Sheen and Yvonne Strahovski they voice the Illusive Man and Miranda Lawson
Navigator Pressly was voiced by Dwight Schultz. You may know him as Reginald Barclay if you're a Star Trek fan, or the dark elf wizard Veloth if you're a Skyrim player with a good ear, or as Howlin' Mad Murdock if your UA-cam avatar and handle are a reference to a Season 2 episode of The A-Team...
Seth Green as Joker
Would Jenna Coleman be classed as enough of a huge celeb for this sort of thing?
Before Clara in Doctor Who and Queen Victoria, she voiced Melia in Xenoblade Chronicles 1 in 2010. She even came back to voice the same character in both the definitive edition of 1 in 2020 and in 3 last year.
I was thinking of her as well! What I find most impressive about this is that she did the first game way back in 2010, and by 2020 was doing significantly more higher profile things, so I was pretty delighted to see her return.
It's always cool when a celebrity returns to a series later. The pay rate for video game VAs is pretty low compared to TV and Film, so it feels more like a personal thing, rather than something they're doing for the money.
@@randomthunk i automatically assumed she was to big for XBC so when I heard her in the trailers for FC I was flipping out
I LOVE Deadly Creatures! The camera controls need some work, but otherwise a solid fun game. The scorpion gameplay uses QTE's and the tarantula utilizes the ability to climb walls and ceilings (hence wonky camera). Definitely worth checking out.
Such a great game and flew under all the radars it seems.
Wonderful list. I enjoy learning fun new facts about games that I can tuck away in my brain for my own amusement. Thanks OxBox!😊
for the next episode: Carrie-Anne Moss as Aria T'Loak in Mass Effect 2 and 3. (and Edwin (Buzz) Aldrin as Stargazer in the end of the Mass Effect 3, but he is not a so called celebrity, he is "just" the second man who walked on the Moon)
I see a lot of mentions of Jenna Coleman playing Melia in Xenoblade Chronicles. The best part? She came back after a decade to reprise her role in the add-on "Futures Connected" AND XC3!
The guy who builds your weapons in Dishonored is voiced by Brad Dourif AKA Chucky!
He also plays Saavedro in Myst III. Apparently he's a bit of a video game nerd in real life.
Granny Rags is played by Susan Sarandon. I certainly wasn't expecting that...
Brad Dourif is a legend with the resume to prove it.
In the Legacy of Kain’s, Ariel, the Guardian of The Pillars was voiced by Breaking Bad’s Skylar White, Anna Gunn (who then won two Emmy’s).
LoK had a surprising number of big names, personal favourite being Tony Jay in terms of recognisable names (and one hell of a recognisable voice)
@@kurosakikun96He was also in Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
I will always remember him best for voicing one of the best Disney Villains of all time in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Literally every time Claudia Black turns up I’m surprised by it. Although at this point, I think she’s been in more games than shows/movies, so maybe I’m surprised when she shows up in movies?
I think Nathan Fillion should have his own list! 11 credits to his name and that's just the ones we know of!
Never been this early, so thought I’d pop down to say thanks for all the consistent content y’all have pushed out over the years! Always a treat to watch
Speaking of Kingdom Hearts, I was real surprised to learn that Rutger Hauer played Master Xehanort in KH3 after Leonard Nimoy's passing, and then Christopher Lloyd for the DLC Re:Mind and Melody of Memory game after Rutger's passing.
Outlaw Golf also was released on PC and had a unique feature called a composure meter. If you did well your composure would increase and it would get a little easier (you could hit farther, etc.). If you did poorly and your composure dropped it would get more difficult. You could give your composure a boost by beating up or humiliating your caddy.
If you want an entry for a part 2, Jeremy Renner voiced cops for the video game adaptation of the Catwoman movie.
Of all the video games on all the consoles, he had to show up in that game.
Engage zero contact protocol
One for fans of a certain era of British comedy & light entertainment - I remember being quite surprised when I was playing Assassin's Creed 2 and suddenly I was faced with Danny Wallace being very snarky at me.
true to character for him then. not that he is like that in real life but he always seems to play snarky characters
Mark Hamill played Emperor Griffon in Dark Chronicle. Underrated game!
Incredible game ❤
I always like it when video game have big name actors. It feels kinda it validates them as an artistic medium.
I can’t look at Fassbender without automatically thinking of him in Inglorious Bastards, especially that awesome scene
I remember Gary Oldman and Kiefer Sutherland on Call of Duty - World at War. Oldman reprised his role of Sargent Reznov on the first Black Ops
For a part two, Queen Ayrenn from Elder Scrolls Online is voiced by Kate Beckinsale. That makes the Aldmeri quests more fun knowing that
Apparently shes in Oblivion too.
Mila Kunis was already famous when the OG Saints Row came out. She’d been on That 70s Show for 8 years at that point and all the actors on that show were well known at least in North America. She was probably a big draw if anything for fans of the show.
"7 HUGE Celebs You Had No Idea Were in Videogames"
WE KNOW.
Saints Row 2 then had even more celebs including Neil Patrick Harris and Michael Dorn.
I was thinking the same thing, but maybe for British/European audiences she was still largely unknown. That's the only explanation I can think of for considering her not yet a pretty big star
@@TheMpo1986 Seriously. It's not "7 Actors Who Did Voicework Before They Were Famous."
Not to mention, she went on to star in the live action adaptation of Max Payne (2008) as Mona Sax. She has a big connection to video games most hardcore gamers are well aware of.
Very much appreciated Mike's warning. I covered my screen and kept listening until that segment was over.
I love that David Boreanaz, from Buffy/Angel and Bones, was the original voice of Squall in Kingdom Hearts.
If we ever get a FF8 remake, I hope he returns.
Sleeping Dogs is such an incredible game but they really did drop the ball with the romances in that game. I was really confused when Emma Stone's character quickly disappeared from the game.
Yeah, that was a bit odd. Same thing happens with 'Not Ping'. She disappears with no explanation, but then turns up in one of the DLCs as Wey's girlfriend. Still love the game, though, and wish it'd gotten a sequel!
I think many people enough about the Saints Row one, not that it's a "subpar GTA ripoff." Not just that, but slightly lesser known actress Eliza Dushku from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was in Saints Row 2 as (the real, actually likeable) Shaundi, and video game streamer Sasha Gray (yeah, let's just go with that) is Viola DeWynter in Saints Row the Third and actually does a good job in it, too.
I'm a big fan of female video game streamers. I'll just google some of her stuff and see if she's any good.
@@thochaos13 👀
I hate to admit, but I was 100% floored when I found out Elijah Wood AND Jack Black were in Psychonauts 2.
Don't forget Matthew Perry (Chandler from Friends) who voiced Benny in Fallout: New Vegas. I could scarcely believe it was him at first.
Fallout New Vegas has quite a few guest stars like René Auberjonois (House), Zachari Levi (Arcade), William Sadler (Victor), Danny Trejo (Raul), Michael Hogan (Doc Mitchell), Wil Wheaton (Robobrain in Old World Blues), Felicia Day (Veronica), Kris Kristofferson (Chief Hanlon), Michael Dorn (Marcus) and of course Ron Perlman who plays the narrator of all modern Fallout games.
Sir Christopher Lee was the voice of Lucan D'Lere in Everquest 2.
Hayden Panettiere had a memorable role in Remember the Titans before Kairi.
I honestly had no idea about Hayden Panettiere until Jane said she was in Heroes. Admittedly I watched just the first season of Heroes and it's been rather a long time since then, so I've forgotten basically all of it. I also now recognize her in Until Dawn only from the bit played on the channel.
First of all, that arachnophobia alert is a great idea:)
I thought I'm fairly good at recognising voices in games (except for recognising whose voice I'm actually hearing... it usually goes like "wait, that voice sounds familiar! Time to check IMDB to find out who the eff is that"), but that first entry really surprised me!
Though not as much as learning that Fassbender is Irish.
Remember that time elijah got really into animal crossing? That was a bright spot
They should have revived his Dirk Gently series just on the strength of that positivity.
I will never forget the Iconic Elijah Wood role as "The Guy" in Spy Kids 3D Game Over! 🤣
Michael Clark Duncan played Hawk in Soldier of Fortune in 2000. He also starred in another game, later on, alongside Patrik Steward but everybody knew about that as he was already famous by then.
Mickey Mouse being in the public domain is giving meat to the Mod community and Indie devs. Such an exciting time!
The Elder Scrolls series tends to always include a few big-name actors among their VAs, in addition to their regulars, such as Sean Bean as Martin and (briefly) Patrick Stewart as Uriel Septim in Oblivion.
Oblivion also stars Lynda Carter (she's in many Bethesda games as she was maried to late Robert Altman, one of Zenimax's founders) and Terence Stamp (whose resume included a Cannes Film Festival award, a Golden Globe award, a Berlin Film Festival award, two BAFTA awards and one Academy Award nomination) as Mankar Camoran.
For me it was seeing Jason Statham in Red Faction 2, a game that came out around the same time as his break out role in The Transporter.
I gotta play Red Faction now.
I would love to meet Ben Kingsley. He seems like such a fun guy. I like actors who seem to be having fun in their careers.
Any reference to Sleeping Dogs I will always like, that game was fantastic and I love replaying it.
And Amanda in the game was my waifu...
Speaking of Dennis Hopper, he also does the voiceover spoken narration for Gorillaz "Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head". Not a lot of people seem to know that.
How could you be surprised Elijah Wood voiced Spyro? It was in all the marketing, which itself was terribly pervasive.
Also, you seem to have forgotten Steve Carell was quite prominently in Bruce Almighty a year before Anchorman came out.
I still remember being floored to learn that Roxas in KH2 was Jesse McCartney, who was a pretty famous pop star in his own right at the time KH2 was released. Well... maybe a bit past the height of his career by then, but it was still a name that 14-year-old me would've immediately recognized and been amazed by!
Lord of the Rings would be a very different series if Frodo could breath fire...
Honourable mention goes to Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) as the character Callista Curnow from Dishonored.
I like to think the devs at Dishonored hired her purely from her work in The Sarah Connor Chronicles and the first words out of their mouths when she showed up for work was _"Holy crap, you're English!"_
Dishonored has a buttload of famous actors in it. Susan freaking Sarandon is in it!
My big Kingdom Hearts "oh my god I know that voice" was actually Roxas, played by then-music star and "Suite Life of Zack & Cody" one-time guest star Jesse McCartney, fresh off his "Beautiful Soul" pop song.
Great vid as always. I have a few suggestions:
Ron Pearlman in the 2008 reboot of Turok.
You’ve mentioned it in another video, but David Tennant was in Just Cause 3.
Billy Dee Williams was pretty determined that no-one else should play Lando (a principle that couldn’t be followed with Solo, and see how that was received), so he did a bunch of games.
And while probably a bit too niche to be considered a huge celebrity, I think Mike and Andy appreciates that Rob Van Dam was in Saints Row 3 and 4…
Always surprises me to hear Sam Rockwell in Dishonored 2, although probably because he's only in it for a tiny bit
Much like the first live action Ninja Turtles
@@JerseyNoodles true but going back to watch the movie after the fact its real easy to point him out
Emma Stone's big break was Zombieland or Easy A, depending on your genre.
Yeah I considered her already famous when she was cast as Gwen Stacey.
I got one! Kristen Bell from movies & tv shows such as The Good Place, Frozen, Bad Moms, and Veronica Mars played Lucy Stillman from the Assassin’s Creed franchise for AC 1, AC 2, and AC Brotherhood.
One that surprised me was Emperor Emhyr in the Witcher 3 is voiced by Charles Dance
I would not say that Amazing Spider-Man was what made Emma a star, that would have to go to Zombieland surely, which was three years earlier. Hell, you could even say Superbad started her rise to fame as that is when most of us first noticed her and may have even been her first film.
I absolutely would say Superbad. I saw The Rocker, House Bunny, and Paper Man (which got Emma some film festival nominations and one win), so I was already very familiar with her by Zombieland. Easy A, Crazy Stupid Love (she won the best actress in a comedy People's Choice Award for that one), and the Oscar Best Picture-nominated The Help were also before Spider-Man. However, Spider-Man made her an international blockbuster star, and that might be what they meant.
@@mattmorgan881 She was great in Paper Man too, a wonderful indie film.
Dishonored 1 had an impressive voice cast that was somewhat miss used. I remember in my first playthrough coming across an old homeless lady at the end of one of the early missions that I didn’t really think much of until I got to the credits and discovered she was voiced by Susan Sarandon. Second playthrough I payed a bit more attention to the side missions and discovered a whole other story involving her character having a grudge against one of the mobster characters in Dunwall, and culminated in a boss fight with her character before the actual end of the game. All of this is easy missed if you just make one decision to not do a certain side mission in the early parts of the game.
This how is not the worst use of a celebrity voice actor in the game. That honour goes to Carrie Fisher who voices the alternate Dunwall announcer. Throughout the game there is a male announcer giving updates on what’s going on in the Dunwall over PA speakers all over the city. At some point you can interact with that character who is doing these announcements and if you choose to kill him he will then be replaced for the rest of the game by Carrie Fisher. Bizarre.
Lol Carrie Fisher was just a cameo easter egg.
For me, that emergent storytelling is the best part of Dishonored, where so many characters are just getting on with their lives and you may or may not fully engage with or even find them. An actual misuse for me, is that in the second game they have Sam Rockwell as the first “target,” but there’s no way for you to interact with him beyond the first part of the first mission, and he doesn’t do much even in that mission. Aside from the opening cut scenes, he’s around for like 10 minutes max.
