      I'd like to learn Hold On by Eddie Money. Probably a real sleeper for you but outta reach for me at this point.

    Good to see the way I self-taught myself this song matches your lesson spot on. I decided to give learning it a try after seeing Clem Burke playing it live from YT old concert footage. That guy is a beast - I break a sweat just watching him!

    Hi Geoff. Interesting. There's a couple of observations I would like to make. You could make those triplets more dynamic by adding a swifter down diddle on the 9th, 13th and 28th quarter shuffles. I would also try an inverted flop on the opening and closing bars in the fifth and eleventh polydiddles. If you could also add a transverse polytetra dodecadiddle piddle with a layered Flemish flam on the 64th and 256th quintuplets, accompanied by a Purfleet souffle. Try that and see what groove comes out.

      Does this fall into the category of "less is more"? haha!

    Very well explained and demonstrated, it's the best way for me to learn, as I am a mature newbie ; - ) I look forward to having a bash at learning this one. Subscribed and liked! Rgds Gary

    So many drummers play it as a shuffle on the hi-hat. Good to see someone playing it right.

      I play it as a shuffle which is hard if you don't know how to shuffle with one hand, this lesson might be better to play for my carpal tunnel too

    Amazing as usual Geoff. I am still battling away at the Judas Priest one you wrote out for me, and will have a go at this one. A nice relaxing one to play that I am trying to sort is the Scorpions - No one like you. Great beat, apart from the double base bit at the end lol.

    This is great. I just bought a drum kit and have never played. Total beginner. I've poked around on your videos. There's a lot there and most look fairly advanced. Which do you suggest for someone like me?

    The isolated drum tracks I've been able to find sound like a shuffle, but it's clear Clem play the triplet pattern live. The world is weird.

    • @andrewkoss297
      @andrewkoss297 3 роки тому +1

      It's a shaker that's added in the recording that fills up the triplets - live he probably has to fill up the time.

      @@vxla just if you’re playing live, the shuffle has a weird vibe without the triplet being filled by the auxiliary percussion.

      @@vxla also it’s still slightly odd for me to play the two handed version and catch the snare with my left hand. Really took me some practice to get used to it.

    The only thing is that the hi hat is a shuffle. Not double stroke.
