DENNIS BOVELL The Man In Me, Choose Me & After Tonight @ Giants of Lovers Rock

Dennis Bovell MBE, AKA Blackbeard, the only Godfather of Lovers Rock, with no exception. He was a renowned member of the UK band - Matumbi and also the ‘Mouth’ of the Mighty Sufferer Sound System. In a sound clash, back in the day, very few sound systems survived Dennis known as the ‘Menace’ and the Mighty Sufferer Sound System. When in residence at The Metro Youth Club, Ladbroke Grove, W.11 The Mighty Sufferer with the combination of Dennis on the ‘mic’ were almost invincible. In fact, due to the popularity, entertainment value and competitiveness of the powerful Sufferer Sound System this was an inspiration to many new sound systems coming into the arena.
Dennis is also known for his prolific songwriting and arranging, such as Silly Games, which smashed the UK Charts for Janet Kay.
