  • Michael Jordan's last game in Chapel Hill was storybook stuff - a dramatic double overtime game vs. Duke with Jordan leading the Tar Heels and Dean Smith to victory. UNC's Matt Doherty hit a 12-foot jumper with :01 left to send the game to overtime tied 73-73. The game would go to a second overtime tied 79-79 before Jordan and fellow Tar Heel star Sam Perkins took over, scoring the Heels first 11 points of 2OT to fuel a 96-83 UNC win. The victory gave the Tar Heels a perfect 14-0 regular season record in ACC play and improved Carolina's overall record to 26-1.
Jordan led UNC with 27 points and grabbed five rebounds, while Perkins dropped 25 points on his Senior Night. Duke's Mark Alarie scored a game-high 28 for Duke and Johnny Dawkins went for 25.

The passing by both teams was fantastic. They basically played the game within 20 feet of the basket but great passing still enabled both teams to get good looks. Living in Kansas at the time, I saw Jordan play on TV as a sophomore and I turned to the guys I was playing cards with while sitting out bad weather at the golf course and said, "he's going to be the best player of all time". He was and still is the GOAT.....and I am a Duke fan. He was such a dashing figure, played with panache, grace, and the ability to make at least one play every game that you had never seen before. I have lived in NC since 1988 and am a fan of both schools. I think I'm the only person in the state who loves both teams.

Great Carolina Team. They never recovered from the Kenny Smith injury.

It is a better game without the three point line. I have and idea that will make everyone happy: If we cannot get rid of the 3 pointer - let's make a new rule. The 3 point line is only in effect in the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter. :-) This will keep the excitement of the 3 pointer and restore the original strategies of the sport throughout the rest of the game.

Three NBA first round draft pics on that Carolina team. With that talent they didn't get to the Final Four or win the ACC tournament championship.

Why oh why Origin Sports when "spotlighting" an athlete, spotlight them in a losing effort? Plus how's about some 90-91 UNLV bb games? Heck during the Natty season run, they were better than some NBA clubs.

if you knew basketball at all, you would know that no college team is going to be able to beat an NBA team. Those NBA guys were all drafted.....Carolina had 3 high draft choices. Las Vegas, Houston, UCLA, NC St, Indiana, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas have all had great teams. But it's boys against men.
