My first sync placement was this year in Love Is Blind! I was working with a company called The Music Playground and they landed it!
Nicely done 🤘

This is a great video, you’re communication is prime
Thank you!
Finally a good straight to the point video about this topic. Thank you!
No problem!! Glad you enjoyed it 😁
Yes, I have been watching a tv show
You’re supposed to finish the rest of the video Alex
Lol
Thank you so much for making this video. Super informative, straight to the point, and honest. I've had a lot of questions researching sync licensing and this answered so many of them! It also validated my concern about all these masterclasses and courses that every video on the topic offers at the end.
Glad you found it helpful!! Appreciate the kind words.
thanks for putting this out there :)
The end credits idea to find sync libraries is brilliant, thank you Adam!
You're very welcome!
Amazing! Dude, this is gold -- I appreciate the helpful tips...you rock!
I really like the way you teach. Very clear and understandable. Thank you very much. Only one thing confused me, pitch songs that are unreleased is better than songs that are already released? Why is that important if the supervisor loves a song that is already out?
Thank you!! If your pitching directly to supervisors, then it doesn’t matter. If you’re pitching to libraries and are making sync specific songs then it’s wise to wait in case they have a preference on streaming. A few of the libraries want songs that haven’t been released yet.
@@AdamSliger Thank you Adam, is a sync specific song, a song that is an instrumental version or what exactly is a sync specific song?
@ it can be instrumental or vocal - i'm thinking more about the business purposes of the song. if your song is primarily meant to be released as an artist, then do what feels right and try to get it syncs once it's out. if your main goal is to get it in shows and commercials, then you want to think more about the common practices of sync libraries and don't upload it to streaming until you know what the library you're placing it with prefers
This is a really good video. Thanks for sharing this info!
Ayyyy thank you! No gatekeeping over here!!
really clear info on sync. Thanks man!
Any time!!
thank you !! I watched a lot of this kind of video and that was one of the most relevant for me 🙏
glad you found it helpful!!!!
Man this is awesome, thank you for the info. I will contact you soon.
This was informative, Adam. Thank you! Also, congrats on getting your dream placement on Pawn Stars! Yay! 🎉
Thank you!! So glad you found it useful!
Loving the videos, this one was great
Thanks Corey!!
Really solid video man, Imma try it out!
Thank you!!! If you have any questions feel free to hit me up!
Love this thank you!
Thank you Adam !
Any time!!
GREAT STUFF!!! Will you do a video on structure ?
sure, i'll put it on the list!
Great video! Adam, would your approach change if you produced only vocal songs with lyrics?
No because they use just the instrumental very often
Hi I'm Paul McLean a Musical Artist I'd like to get my original music on a Netflix show. Im about to join B.M.I thank you for the advice. So Adam which sync library do you use? please if you could reply that would so possibly make that goal happen for me. Thank you 😊
Hey Paul!! I have songs with APM, Sony ATV, MIBE, and BPD, and a few other assorted places. If you find my BMI works catalogue in their advanced search you can see a breakdown of everything. Good luck!!
@@AdamSliger thank you I'll give it a go.
Actually learned quite a lot!
Glad you found it helpful!
Thank you for sharing 🤲🏾❤️💪🏿
Any time!
Thanks for sharing Adam! Its encouraging to hear this, especially when i havent really heard back from the sync companies for a while…is their anyway i can listen to your tracks?
Glad you found it helpful! Honestly there's not a good place to stream any of my sync specific stuff other than to go watch Discovery Channel shows lol. They're not on Soundcloud or Spotify or anything like that.
@@AdamSliger haha ok no worries, thought I'd ask anyway. Looking forward to discovery channel
@jnaramusic yeah they're just like stock music tracks haha. if you want to look through my catalogue on BMI you can find it in their music search and see which songs are on Discovery, Sony ATV, MIBE etc but there's not a way to stream them so it doesn't really help much. I'd say most of the ones that get placed often are either Lumineers/The Head and the Heart inspired folk and acoustic stuff, or 1980s synth wave tracks, so there's a market for those. Even my Pawn Stars placement is actually a synth wave track, not a blues song like you'd expect
Nice advice
Thanks Lee!
thanks for the sync
Any time!!!
Congrats on achieving what I would call a dream career. I'm curious, what sort of placement would pay only 35 cents?
Anything on a streaming show for only a few seconds with no vocals
Great vid! Congratulations on all those sync placements… including Pawn Stars! Are the libraries typically seeming instrumental music, or does this info apply equally to songs w/ vocals? If so, are they unlikely to be accepted if also distributed to streaming services etc?
I’ll cover this in a new video asap! But short answer is half and half, and also, it depends lol
Thanks for the great advice! I compose neoclassical piano music. Can you recommend a music library that specialises in piano music?
i actually don't know any that do that specifically but most of them will have all sorts of music!
Great video bro thank you 🙏
Any time!
Very helpful, thank you! I’m a music producer based in Italy. Do you know if BMI also operates here in Europe?
Anyone can join no matter where they’re from, as long as they’re not a member of a different PRO first
What if I want to only use released songs for potential sync licensing? Could I still be successful?
Yes you can!! It can often times help if you start to make it as an artist, because shows will pay more for recognizable songs.
Thank you bro!!
No prob
@@AdamSligerhow would you go about pushing pre exists songs like that to sync?
Once your music is in a Library, how do you get them to pitch it to a music supervisor? If the pitch is successful, is there a way to get the Music Supervisor to use 'your' track?
That’s the library’s whole job! Once it’s in their hands you can just focus on the next record.
They often don't, you need to be careful that the library is actually actively pitching rather than just collecting people's songs to gather dust!
GREAT VIDEO
thank you!
Hey Adam!
If we make an Album, how do we report the songs to P.R.O, do we enter only basic data or do we have immediately indicate the library we are sending it or does the Library do that for us ? Thanks a lot!
If you’re self releasing it for the public then I’d add it to your PRO as is, if you’re shopping it for sync libraries only then wait and see what they want you to do. Sometimes they’ll handle all of that for you.
Key #1 have high quality music that is a great product right ?
Yeah that’s a given haha
If they want your song to be unreleased through streaming services, would you still register it with a PRO first?
Yes, or sometimes they’ll register it for you.
Can i Submit Afrobeat Music ? And Can you please Give tips of how to write A good pitch
yes! as far as a good pitch goes, i would just hit these main points:
1: i am a composer and producer who works in the afrobeat genre
2: i've got a portfolio of songs that i'm interested in submitting for sync
3: if you i can send over some tracks, what's your preferred way for me to do so?
but phrase it in a way that's natural to you!
You have a list I can buy full of sync companies that want unreleased music / beats ?
Nah sorry I don’t
Is it ok to upload the same songs in different libraries?
Depends on the library. Some are exclusive, some are non-exclusive, you can ask them when you speak to them!
Great info..#lvdrizzle
Glad it was helpful!
Hi there sir can I ask you a question sir?
Go ahead!! Hopefully I have an answer
