Yep. It shows they weren’t confident that players would move to cs2 from csgo they forced them to. It’s the same shit blizzard did with Overwatch 2 and yet valve faced almost no pushback on it and they’re always seen as the good guys even when doing very similar practices to companies like Activision / Blizzard. Instead of providing a better product you can just make it much harder to play the older product and effectively kill its community, then gamers don’t have a choice but to play the newer game. Imagine if the original cs was replaced by cs source with no public store page to download cs 1.6. If cs2 is supposed to be a sequel to csgo it doesn’t make sense for them to basically erase csgo from peoples libraries and the store.

1:57 Wouldn't the "cl_downloadfilter none (or "all" instead of "none", can't remember which one)" command fix the issue for most servers? (i mean, most that don't use custom maps, skins, sounds etc. With that command, the game won't download any of that)
a lot of servers force you to use a downloadfilter other than none (prevents downloading sv files). what happens most often is a plugin will kick you telling you something like: cl_downloadfilter allowed values; 'mapsonly' 'nosounds' 'all' not all servers will do this though. I would suggest not playing it at all as RCE's will be discovered for legacy 2023 CS:GO as they were for legacy 2018 CS:GO. or play it on an old spare computer, it could probably run it
@ground-beef Makes sense, didn't know about that. Bummer that valve didn't separate csgo from cs2 in the library and kept with small stability updates for csgo (like in css), but understandable since cs2 its not a new game and there's the whole skins ecosystem into it.
In tf2 there is community mvm servers (that appear on the official tf2 blog btw) that has managed to bypass cl_downloadfilter mapsonly to download custom textures, icons etc... I know this becuase the console was saying it and becuase noticed the extra files on the download folder I suppose cl_downloadfilter ONLY controls downloads when you are on the loading screen and not when you are in the servers alredy, mesning that the server can still download icons, textures and whatever it needs to make it function... Correct me if wrong on that but otherwise I rly cant think how ppl did it But what I am saying is that in csgo it must be similar if in tf2 ppl have alredy bypassed that command... And then you have l4d2 who doesnt even have that command 😂
2:01 saying that some servers might be unscrumptious and might require you to download custom assets and sounds that may or may not be malicious, when he's joining a HvH server, even the server messages notifying about kills in the game chat are prefixed with "[HvH]"................
But this is nothing new... It happened on l4d2 for decades, it happened on tf2 and even css and csgo There is a reason why most ppl want to avoid community servers unless rly necesary

cl_downloadfilter allowed values; 'mapsonly' 'nosounds' 'all'
not all servers will do this though.
I know this becuase the console was saying it and becuase noticed the extra files on the download folder
I suppose cl_downloadfilter ONLY controls downloads when you are on the loading screen and not when you are in the servers alredy, mesning that the server can still download icons, textures and whatever it needs to make it function... Correct me if wrong on that but otherwise I rly cant think how ppl did it
But what I am saying is that in csgo it must be similar if in tf2 ppl have alredy bypassed that command...
And then you have l4d2 who doesnt even have that command 😂
at this point bring csgo back
Opened a knife in csgo for the last time, thanks :)
I just want pre/post/halftime voicechat back
I just want to play the operation coop maps again.
I miss the old cs menu. Hate the modern ui
thought's on coffeezilla tackling the cs gambling epidemic?
Where is Destruction Darius 2? :(
vtmb bloodlines installed and favorited MY MAN

og no where did my cs gooooo?
what about popflash for matchmaking?
2:01 saying that some servers might be unscrumptious and might require you to download custom assets and sounds that may or may not be malicious, when he's joining a HvH server, even the server messages notifying about kills in the game chat are prefixed with "[HvH]"................
your point...?
The joke
Your head
But this is nothing new...
It happened on l4d2 for decades, it happened on tf2 and even css and csgo
There is a reason why most ppl want to avoid community servers unless rly necesary
we can't play our old workshop maps with friends with a special custom lobby like we used to can't we 😔
The future is wild
All we want is cache in cs2 fr
How to play CS 1.6 in 2025:

I miss de_fenestration, thanks for the guide
This is a pretty big ask, but would you consider porting fenestration to cs2?
Any other Linux users not getting the option to launch into go anymore?
i still dont have any choice after choosing and downloading the beta, i dont have the default launch option selected
you have go to in properties, general and launch options
@@TonyMadeira1804-2 There is no launch options in general, it shows only when i enable Steam Proton. When i enable Proton, i can't play CS:GO or CS2 with multiplayer, because VAC blocks me.
@@TonyMadeira1804-2 There isn't any launch option, it shows only after enabling Steam Proton which breaks VAC on both CS2 and CS:GO.
But if you want to play with other people you might want to play CSS with the Source Offensive mod
NO, THE FLASHBACKS 😭😭 BRING DEFENESTRATION BACK PLEEEAASEEE 😔😔😔
