- Since this was the first map of a completely new and pretty unknown mapper I had no idea what the expect. I thought it would be super short and basic but oh wow was I wrong! This map is a super cozy and very well build and design map that, apart from some segments that were a bit too dark, looks incredibly good. Every room had a unique creative touch and it was super fun to play through this and discover all the secrets as well. It's super hype to see new map builders on the scene, especially if they are as talented as this person! I can't wait to see their future work and where those maps can develope to in the future...
I would rate this a solid 8.5/10! I enjoyed almost every aspect of this apart from the very dark lighting at time but at the end of the day it's a very nice looking, well designed creative map without too many details but that's just fun to play and it deserves a solid high rating!
But I'm also curious what you guys on UA-cam think about this map! And if you want to watch more that were build by this mapper of course. Speaking of, please check his channel out and give him some support but for now lean back and enjoy watching!

Honestly, it doesn’t help with how playable the level is, but i love watching these videos while relaxing for bed so i kind of love the dark environments while falling asleep lol
That is actually such a great argument in favor of the super dark areas and lighting haha I love it! I'm glad to hear that having those videos on in the background is helpful for relaxing and gets you to sleep, really appreciate that!
The level design of this map was really sick. Like aside it being too dark in many areas, the way that paths lead back to each other. So many moments where you went like: Oh my god, now I'm back here. Really well done. I really hope they see these comments and feel encouraged to keep going.
It's actually super impressive to have a map like this where everything leads back into each other like that. In 99% of custom maps people use teleporters or just loads to connect areas like that but actually having it make sense like this is super sick!
Seems like the positive comments worked in terms of motivation btw, they have since made a second one in the exact same style!
The wheel has decided on the most recent map on this channel so far, but my concern that I might have too many good memories for a casual playthrough was unfounded. While I did recognize most of the rooms, I barely remembered any solutions to the puzzles.
However, it didn't make much of a difference, as they weren't hard if you were thorough.
This is also the first map that I would subjectively rate a little higher after playing it myself than when just watching it.
It was really fun to play; the mapper apparently made adjustments based on feedback.
I still stand by the positive and negative points from my old comment, but the negatives didn’t weigh as heavily anymore, and the vibe came across MUCH better when playing it myself.
I wouldn't quite say that the map could have been in the original game, but it didn’t stray too far from that, and the cozy feeling of 'Fire crabs, spiders, and endless holes aside, I would love to be there' was created.
Gotta admit - that's a souls level layout design. I honestly can't wait for more if the creator decides to continue his work.

And yeah I fully agree, the level design is very unique (not sure about souls like haha) and it's super interesting to discover those interconnected areas!

Really quite good for a first map, congrats to that! I kinda wished for a bit more exitment though, maybe a few more mobs, puzzles, jumps, and such would have been appreciated. Hopefully Nixxos positive reaction will motivate zPozitive to continue building and improve. Well done!
I think that is a pretty fair critizism, most of the rooms had a pretty cool design but in terms of "action" so to speak they were indeed lacking a bit. Thanks for posting the great feedback below here, I hope the map creator sees this and gets both motivation and ideas on how to improve even further from it!

I couldn't agree more, they did really well with their first map especially regarding how difficult and tedious it is to build anything for an old game like this!
At 21:21 is now a flippendo switch behind the card if you lock your self inside the secret room and the room with the first two snails has better lightning now.
Ahh that's some great improvements actually, I heard that he patched and changed some small things in the map. That's what those live playthroughs are really good for actually, best kind of playtesting for the mapper 😄
21:06 Very deep symbolic here, you have to go first the curved ways in life before you finally reach the target of a originally straight way.
I actually kind of love how deep this is, especially considering we are talking about a HP2 PC custom map 😂 Reminds me of back in school when we had to interpret random things into a text and think about what the author might have wanted to say with those.

Hmm that's not the first time I'm reading about the Dark Souls vibes, I assume because all the areas are kind of interconnected and you can and have to backtrack at times? Cool observation there, maybe they will base some future maps on other video games then!

For a first map impressive indeed, but on my rating I will not take this fact on further advantage. An the seconth look, it's a 7.5 for me. Very creative ideas, lots of thinking was made onto a cool route, variety and fun to play.
On the other hand It seems a bit like he left everywhere a bit much potential, in terms of lighting, propotions (narrow ceilings in corridors, wide rooms with closely enough decoration) and polishing.
So to be fair to mappers who fullfilled that more, I give them this very solid rating with potential for the future.
I personally think that this is a really good and reasonable rating of the map! I agree with all of the points you brought forward there, the good and the bad. I think most people (including myself) do the rating through the lense of this being his first map but yoi have a point, comparing it to already existing maps there are definitely some areas that could have been done better and that waste a bit of potential.
I'm sure those things will come over time though and since they have already released their second map now I can tell you that they have indeed improved further...

TBH, I really hate that Fire Crapping Crabs loading flames sound, getting on to my nerves, I just despise Fire Crabs. I like to destroy them.
That is a lot of agressions against fire crabs but you know what fair enough 😂 I'm the same with the Imps in this game, absolutely despise those fuckers. I always thought it's cool that they reload like a gun but in some areas they can for sure be super annoying so I fully get it!

Yes, it's hard to find everything. It was hard at first, but I played it 4 times in a row and managed to find everything.
Ohh so you just kept on playing it until you found everything, I see. That's actually so much cooler than just using debug mode to fly around and find them 😄
Worth nothing, while the new editor has a ton of enhancements, most of the pleasing lighting and atmosphere is definitely more on the map maker's side of things, it takes a bit of effort to get good colors and vibes out of the lighting
Thank you for pointing that out actually, I have realized that I don't really give the map builders work enough credit when I say "maps on the new engine alway have nice lighting". There is absolutely still a lot of skill and work needed to make it look good, even on that engine!
