    Why can't NYC subways be this clean?

    • @Neville60001
      @Neville60001 9 місяців тому +7

      Because NYC's government is incompetent, and despite all of the money thrown at it, the NYCTA doesn't seem to be able to keep its stations clean or to refurbish them enough to look great, up to the standards and cleanliness of this systems' stations (although that _could_ be changed by having the entire subway system be shut down at 12:00 AM for cleaning and maintenance.)

    • @potapenkovalexander
      @potapenkovalexander 9 місяців тому +4

      Because NYC doesn’t own it’s subway system. It is profitable but state authorities funnel the money to other transportation systems and it is chronically underfunded. 😂

    • @Neville60001
      @Neville60001 9 місяців тому +2

      @@potapenkovalexander, the state government can still fund a complete refurbishment of most of the stations that are in need of it, and afterward, the state government can also mandate that the subway be shut down every night (around 11:30 PM-12:00 AM) for general cleaning and maintenance, as is done in London, Tokyo, Paris, Montreal, and Toronto.

    • @trainsandmore2319
      @trainsandmore2319 9 місяців тому +1

      @@Neville60001 And they can also have night bus services temporarily replace them during those times, just like they did during the COVID lockdowns. London (TfL), Paris (RATP), Montreal (STM), and Toronto (TTC) have such services. However, one criticism I have about Tokyo (Toei) and other Japanese cities is that (for country with the best urban public transport in the world) still don't even have them, and so you will either be forced to take an expensive taxi, walk a long way, or just wait until the next day at a capsule hotel.

    Vietnamese from Hanoi here, thanks for visiting our metro!
    Our metro is really great, but the construction time was very long.
    This line was planned in 2010. Yes, you've read it right: 2010. Due to a lack of funding and arguments with the streets that were located on the metro (since it takes a lot of space making traffic worse and the region the Metro served was very crowded), it got delayed by ten-plus years.
    I saw one comment saying two more lines will be opened, one here and one in Ho Chi Minh City.
    Well, the line in HCM has opened since the end of 2023, maybe it didn't reach the international news.
    And unfortunately, no more lines will open in Hanoi this year. It was supposed to open this year, Line 3 from Nhon to Hanoi Railway Station, but was delayed until 2027, once again due to a lack of funding but no arguments.
    My home isn't located even near the metro, in fact, it is on the east side of the Red River. (Asia) There are only planning lines in that area possibly opening from 2050-2070. I would be like 70 when that happens!
    Anyways, I once again say thank you for visiting our metro. We are very proud of it.

      @Namoari941 9 місяців тому

      Yes, this project is VN’s first, and it encountered many legal problems, thats why it was delayed for more than 10 years, and many anti-China people are only blaming China (Chinese company was in charge of the project), they never mentioned the real causes of the problems were on Vietnamese side, nothing to do with Chinese company. Now the railways is running good, and these people stopped whining. The Vietnamese government just singed new contracts for a high speed line, connecting China’s Kunming city to VN’s port of Haiphong . Vn had waited for so long to corporate with China, is mainly political and distrustful of China’s technology, but becuase VN failed to had Japan due to the cost, therefore, VN has to let China do it’s first High-speed rail way, after over 10 years of successful Chinese systems (the biggest ,longest system in the world)

      Nothing much, like an international report on Vietnam during the 1990s, they said it's hard to do any calculation on Vietnamese economy, because Vietnamese don't put money in banks they hid it under their pillows. Most of Vietnamese businesses are entrepreneurs, the gov doesn't have the accurate estimation at all. If you go to Vietnam now people follow the rise and drop of gold and USD daily, because that's their investment, they don't trust the gov too much. So only a fraction of the population put money in banks, the rest put money in purchasing lands, real estates, gold bars, or simply send money to oversea banks.

    I'm confused how this system will actually work, it looks like the line you are on terminates in the centre of the city; and there is another line which is also elevated on its outer section and tunnel on the inner section but the tunnel isn't open yet and so for now both lines don't connect. I think once the tunnel section opens on the other line they will operate as an unconnected pair. No idea what other plans they do have.
