Music is Win #Ask tyler.Man i have an doubt.we just use 3 notea to make a chord from a scale.if i need cmaj i take 1-3-5 but when i play it in guitar i play 5 strings why????
#AskTyler Tyler you're the absolute man I love your channel! Have you ever been in a band? Do you think you ever will be again? Is there anyplace we can hear this glorious music?!
Sounding pirate-y has way more to do with tempo than with which scale you're using - if you want to sound like a pirate, play in 6/8 or 12/8 and "swing" the tempo a little.
Tyler, I love your videos so much. You just make me want to pick up my guitar and play it, no matter if I've been practicing for hours and burnt out or haven't practiced all day. Plus your sense of humor lines up perfectly with mine, so I find myself laughing out loud sometimes. Keep shredding, man. (Not a question, I just wanted to show some gratitude :) )
So basically.... learn the major scale. Great.. how insightful... this teaches next to nothing about playing piratey sounding music. Wasting our time here. And I'm not just being narky for the sake of it. I regularly leave positive feedback for good teaching. This genuinely just feels like an ad for your paid service dressed up as genuine content
Just learn aeolian mode and it works for every mode. It's that simple. Just a different position on the route note. C major is A aeolian, C Lydian is E aeolian, C mixolydian is D aeolian. It's so easy. Don't learn major scales just learn minor aeolian. Perfect box to remember.
Could u possibly do a video on composing songs on guitar for songwriters and just song composers who are needing some assistance but can't get any hope it sorta makes since love the channel
Nice video :) man did you ever think of becoming a teacher? You are so entertaining and wise. And is there any kind of "Viking" scale or Nordic Scale? If so can you make a video about it?!
hey tyler i have been playing guitar for three years and i have one major problem, i can not keep time i have used a metronome before and still am but i still can not keep time, any tips on how i can improve that?
Hi man, first of all, good job about your guitar skills !! they're truly amazing ! your vids are verry great too ! So I've been playing the guitar for several years and I've played mostly on an acoustic (I prefer how it sound), I did get myself an electric and even though I like the sound I get from it, I'm not sure I'm using the tone button very well (I don't truly understand what it does to the sound even though I do hear a tiny difference) I have two buttons (more like "roulette") on my guitar and one on my amp... Can you light my candle ?
some kind of a flex rubber bandage above 1st fret. google it, shredders like andy james use the fretwrap. but you can just try tying a handkerchief lol gonna work too
the panda bear Hi, this depends on what you set out to achieve on the guitar. some players stick with rhythm and dont venture out into using scales, whereas some players progress into using scales in their music. my advice would be that if youre not sure, to try both, because youll soon find out which is easiest for you to start on. try learning some songs you like if youre brand new to guitar, it helps to familiarise you with the instrument a bit better and can help you understand where you need to go with your music better. a final note; its all up to you. at the end of the day, it is only you who can choose what it is you wish to do with the instrument and your music as a whole, so theres no strict rules to what you should be or shouldnt be learning. i hope this helps and good luck learning on your guitar journey!
People, there are 7 positions for the Major scale... The "three notes per string" scale-concept is the outcome of some of these positions combined. You should tell these kind of things to the people as a guitar teacher Tyler. Greetings from Greece and cheers for mr. Govan!
Hey tyler, if this is a major pirate scale, do you know what kind of scale they used in the Pirates of the Carribean theme song? Because i would love to learn how to play a style like that. Thanks!
Matthew Sawicki Hi, i know im not tyler, but just incase you dont get a reply, i personally would say this is an irrelevant factor in guitar playing. just search on youtube for kids playing guitar and youll soon see they can get by just fine considering their ability, but on the flip side of that, jimi hendrix had huge hands and fingers and still managed to play the guitar perfectly. id advise trying out whats comfortable for you to unlock the best player you can be, by which i mean trying guitars with wide necks or thicker gauge strings, but besides what is personally comfortable for you, there are no set in stone negatives for being large handed. i hope this helps, all the best!
Girish Mathur lol yeah didn't really explain any of that, I thought he'd go into detail about which intervals or progressions would help generate the piratey vibe, and he just leaves it at a vague "it's all about how you play it" which is true but why is this video not named "how to play pretty much anything because major scale"

I love his videos but it's kind of funny how it always comes down to the 'guitar super system course' part 😂
It's his way of marketing. The least annoying way of marketing I've ever seen.

Rum, beer, quest and mead!
Actually I thought a 'pirate' scale would be Dorian rather than Ionian. This is very misleading.
Looked up "Guitar Pirate Scale" to expand my creativity....turns out, I was already playing it. lol
What was your first ever guitar?

As a bassist, this sounds about as good as some rum
John petrucci’s Glasgow kiss is the most pirate sounding guitar song
I think you should make a video about medieval scale
#AskTyler where would you recommend I start learning basic music theory
you have a great pirate voice :)
Sounds like something off The Mollusk, love it dude
People, there are 7 positions for the Major scale... The "three notes per string" scale-concept is the outcome of some of these positions combined.
You should tell these kind of things to the people as a guitar teacher Tyler.
Greetings from Greece and cheers for mr. Govan!
do you do music is win full time or as a hobby?
Hey tyler, if this is a major pirate scale, do you know what kind of scale they used in the Pirates of the Carribean theme song? Because i would love to learn how to play a style like that. Thanks!

Who else thought he was gonna do like a Viking metal scale?
When I think of pirate music I think in something like Dropkick Murphys or Alestorm, not the major scale.
but... why is the rum always gone...
Is there a beef between you and jared dines ?
Does this have anything to do with Pirateposting?
Tyler, do you recommend an Ibanez for starting, just a cheap one though.
find old japanese guitar, much better than any new ibanezes, i swear
#askTyler Would you say that hand/finger size/length effects guitar playing? Thanks, Matt.

Hey tyler, what if I hate happy sounding music?
talk about click baits
Girish Mathur lol yeah didn't really explain any of that, I thought he'd go into detail about which intervals or progressions would help generate the piratey vibe, and he just leaves it at a vague "it's all about how you play it" which is true but why is this video not named "how to play pretty much anything because major scale"
Your backing track is the Spongebob credits theme rhythm :)
Do you even lift??
That was like the worst pirate music ever. 😂😂
Basically just play tripplets with the Dorian or Mixolydian scale and it sounds piratey af haha
I expected alestorm solo stuff. But this is fine as well.
The only way to sound like a pirate is to play alestorm

Can you not put my comment in the Q&A?
I thought the "Pirate" Scale was a Minor Scale with a raised/sharp 4th degree.
Admit it, you were clearly inspired by guthrie govan's "pirate modes" video lmao
Blue Falcon he literally says that in the video
Sounds more like fancy Reggae
I was expecting some pirates of the caribbean, hanz zimmer shit, and got sponge bob licks
