The old Minifigs catalogues were a thing of wonder.

They were indeed, every figure from every range featured, it was a joy to look through and enjoy.

@martinradcliffe - you might enjoy a 'flick' through the 1975 version again then :) wargames91559202.files.wordpress.com/2019/09/miniature-figurines-catalogue-1975.pdf

15mm Napoleonic Miniature Figurines 2nd version/range, the greatest.
Sold my army years and years ago.
    Miss them like hell.

Original designer was Dick Higgs, later his brother Dave joined the company. Original figures were 20mm, they then brought out the S range, which were slightly bigger. These were superceded by the 25mm ranges.

Nice figures and paint jobs mate. I still have a number of old MINIFIGS ECW figures in my 15mm army, including some I got way back in 1983 in Aldershot.

I loved the old Minifigs. I had a large collection, but sold them back in the 90s. I loved the stocky nature of the figures. Nice to see them again.

Ah my first foray into 25mm was buying minifigs in those boxes. I drove from Peterborough to Finchley north London to a shop i think called "Finchley models". Spent a fortune buying 25mm ECW.

You might enjoy this then! Page 36 I think are the ECW's in all their glory :) wargames91559202.files.wordpress.com/2019/09/miniature-figurines-catalogue-1975.pdf

Rye Stamp and Hobby Shop - there's a name to bring back memories. Long gone now, I assume, but in the 70s and 80s they were in all the magazines and I bought a lot from them by mail order. I think I made one visit in person when I was down in London, but it was mostly sending off a cheque (remember them?) and then waiting - "Please allow two weeks for delivery".

I recently purchased some Hinchcliffe winged Hussars, saw them in a Battle Magazine as a child and always wanted some, I eventually bought and painted them, they still have amazing charm.

I have painted some of the lovely Hinchliffe winged Hussars for Old John! I wonder if this was the article that you mention? Bill Brewer was a great painter and I visited his shop many times, when not serving customers he was sat painting figures :) unfashionablyshiny.blogspot.com/2009/11/bill-brewer.html

I had a mixture of Minifigs and Hinchcliffe. The contrast was interesting, the former bring stocky and the latter being rather more slender. Ssdly I sold them back in the 90s, Napoleonics and ACW.

I used to get my Minifigs from the New Model Soldier Shop in Sheffield. Sadly, the shop is long gone. 😉 Great memories.
Those winged hussars look impressive, as do the Indians - you’ve done a grand job painting those. FWIW I managed to pick up some old Spencer Smith 18th century painted figures recently, but now understand the ranges are no longer available (moving from the U.K. to the US I believe). Grrrr… I needed “more” to complete my armies ☹😣

      Hi Geoff. Interesting - and sad- about the old Spencer Smith range, I was not aware of that :{

A while ago I managed to pick up a couple of decent sized and reasonably priced painted Spencer Smith 18th century infantry units from Hinds Figures. However, I still needed a few more infantry - plus some cavalry and artillery. No worries I thought - I’ll pick them up soon… Recently I saw on Lead Adventure Forum (or it might’ve been TMP) that they were ceasing production in the UK and the business was moving to the USA. The lesson should perhaps be to pick them up when you need them, otherwise the opportunity might slip by ☹@@legrambo

I nice variety of warriors from history but no Celts?
I started by collecting warhammer but im just getting into historical figures. I'm shocked at how hard it is to find some models such as celts or cowboys.

I'm a big fan of the Celts too! I collect ancient armies in 3mm scale now days but did paint some old school Hinchliffe celts a few years back: napoleonictherapy.blogspot.com/2017/09/back-on-woad-again.html
