- Following Wyn Masters, a Pro Downhill racer down Whistler bike park's gnarliest trails. Wyn Master is a UCI downhill World Cup Racer, that also races select Enduro World Series races. In 2017, Wyn won the first round of the EWS in Rotorua. Today he's showing me some lines and gaps I've never seen at Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

What tire width are you running?
I fly paramotors, I'm such a pussy. Hella man
What bikes are u guys on
Thank you I enjoy your videos
Skills With Phil I like to ride bike with you here in Florida I’m In Flagler Beach
I like the videos with no music. I love to hear the trail / bike sounds.
Same here
the hub sounds
agreed
100% agree!
True brutha
That guy’s broken rib leisure pace is 2x my Mach chicken.
So probably 4x my Mach ICU
i want to upvote but it's at 69 likes
I went full speed down one of my local trails just to get an idea of how fast I am (I don't normally check times). Turns out Danny Heart did it at literally twice the speed xD
At last when riding pavement segments and get destroyed I can say "they probably had a road bike", or "they probably had the wind behind them". But on the trail I have no excuses, these guys are just on another level of quick.
@@jman6373 Might be a reason for that xD
@@aljowen haha guess I should've searched that first :)
imagine youre taking a leisurely ride down a trail when a literal titan of biking starts tailing you at mach speed
He wasnt trying to race he was trying to get TF out the way :''')
Imagine being 14 years old with him rubbing treadblocks behind you :)
crazy, lost count on how many time's i'd kill myself on that run
99% of that is SOOOO above my pay / skill level
ikr, watching this for 7min and I'm sweat as hell
I would've fallen prey to every single root these two barely even acknowledged.
lmao
should be titled "Worlds Longest Indoor Opportunity for Injury Trail" LMAO
That he is going that fast riding blind absolutely blows my mind.
I cannot imagine going that fast in general on singletrack in the woods. My mind wouldn't be able to process the trail that quickly.
Absolute Don
...and he is not even top 20 EWS
Dartht33bagger This. The sheer amount of control this man has over his bike, even on techy bits. I struggle to keep my front wheel pointed straight even with heavy application of the brakes.
he’s blind? htf
We're stoked you two were able to make some laps happen together!
Thanks for making this content happen. That was the most informative and entertaining DH video I have seen in quite some time!
mad footage huge respect and killer bikes
My first DH might have to be a GT.
GT Bicycles you want to sponsor me
Dear GT.. thanks for making my Childhood actually Rad in all ways.. and R.I.P A-1 Cycle and Lock from Westminster CA, Peace..
I imagine the guy y'all caught up to felt the same way I feel when I've just finished my transaction at the cashier and I'm struggling to hurry and put my money away, neatly, as there's a line of 6 other people behind me.
🤣💯
The people can wait. Every one is so impatient today. We've forgotten patience and courtesy.
6:15 I love how competitive he is, just on a cruise. You stop for a break and he keeps looking behind him for people haha!
That's just instinctive safety. Always be aware of your surroundings on open trails and roads.
@@Lost_n_Found_1 it's probably part of it.. did you watch?
I'm like 50 so I have no business using words like "sick" so I'll just say that was rad.
I'm 50 too and watching this video is the 'raddest' thing I'll do all week!
Greg Anderson ok boomer
badass, or dogs bollocks is better...cool, sick, and awesome is for cringey Yanks and Austrailians..
60yo myself & mtb @ crazy speeds keeps me young. I live in BC so right at home with video. Wtb guys cya on the hills!
Crazycraigy lmao who says dogs bollocks
Good times riding with ya Phil, you sent that hip bigger than anyone!
Is Wyn TV doing any offseason editions?
I was hoping we'd see some of that footage at the end! Maybe another time...
Scary watching. My knees kept going rubber on me. I thought sure that Phil went wide right on that steep ramp the first time he took it. And early I saw you dodge a tree on your left so deftly, really great move.
I love all the props you give him . And rightly so .
But don’t cut yourself short bro . You kept up pretty well . Regardless if that was a slower pace for him or not .
Incredible what you guys do . Great video
Not sure what's more impressive, the dude in front, or Phil doing commentary while he rides. Thanks for the great video
Wyn redefined "taking it easy"... riding blind with a broken rib at those insane speeds and line choices. Love the vid 👌
It's why he gets paid for riding and we don't 😂😂🙌
26:34 Holy cow that manual. That speed. The guy in front was pedaling and he was keeping up
Yeah that’s impressive
the fact that the equipment holds up to this kind of riding is just crazy..
Well everything mtb is made for rough stuff
Just shows how pointless it is debating over bikes and their parts. Once you hit a certain value they are far beyond what the average rider can make them do
Thank you so much for this awesome footage phill. I'm new to the mountain bike world and being able to see what you guys do and what it's like is just amazing and so inspiring. Keep up the good work, mad skills brutha! You are amazing to watch.
Dang. I've never seen Phil have to actually try to keep up with someone. That boi was fast
Best part is, running with a dude faster than Phil will push our boy to be even faster. Can't wait to see progress on this.
It would have been unfair but I would have loved to see Phil be included in the UA-camr EWS challenge they did.
@@Br3ndo1891 I was thinking the same thing
@@Br3ndo1891, would have been great to see how he'd place in that race. I mean overall... He'd pretty much podium for sure...
@@piciu256 me too but Phil's an ex pro racer or not an active pro racer. I think it's fair to say that he had a huge chance of winning the whole event. He currently participated in the US Open enduro and placed 15th sans training, and 17th in the DH category while still using the same shorter travel bike than the other competitors in their dh bikes.
I think this is the first vid, I've ever heard you huffing n puffing. That dude was fast as hell.
It happens! I have limits too :P
@@SkillsWithPhil which is great to see/hear! It keeps it closer to us not biking gods. N1
funny thing ... there's always someone better!!!!!!
This was cool being kind of long, with no music, and hearing you guys talk about the trails.
Really awesome video Phil, I was glued to the screen the whole time. Wynn is a local legend where I am from in NZ so pretty cool to see him ride
*this is straight pleasure*
*best 30 minutes i can spend on a sunday evening*
The feels of almost nonstop trail bombing
bruh turn down the down, put it on rap, and just keep it on the TV while you are vibing and drinking with friends.
I knew Wyn was a shredder, but holy cow! I loved to see all those manuals. That was insane.
Amazing, I like the perspective of the camera following a rider. Its helpful to see how a pro manages their body and bike through technical features.
Super fun to watch. Wyn is a bike freak-a-zoid, and so are you. The last few minutes with the kids is almost the best part. Keep up the good work, your videos are always entertaining!
" Feel like my back tire is getting a little low ."
Fricken mashes down some gnar
Man, such riding and at a "leisurely" pace, LOL!!
The gaps and riding a trail blind? boggles the mind at that.
Nothing to critique from me. I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it thoroughly. Thanks for sharing it Phil.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video :) I thought it was a special run, and the highlight from my week.
I tell ya Phil, that video never gets old; I've watched it several times just because it's fun and joyful.
One word.....Incredible. Its amazing to see the difference between a good rider and a great (pro). I'm a million miles away from both of you. I'd love to see one pro being filmed by another at full chat as i think i would literally have my eyes closed. Very impressive stuff.
Thanks for the great half-hour of pretty much continuous riding. Definitely a "stand-alone" video, and more interesting than a bunch of jump-cut trail highlights. Especially thank you for all the huffing & puffing, (& pushing uphill), I feel much better about my last few outings, spent gasping for breath, alone in the wilderness.
Phil, I have been really enjoying your content recently, its a fine mixture of the amazing quality and the fact that you just straight up shred that makes your videos so entertaining, to complement that, your editing skills are just sick, I'm loving the transitions you have been doing for the whistler series. With that being said, keep up the great work buddy!
Agree
I've never seen a bike park run this fast, but I can still see how much faster Wyn can ride if he wanted to. That's wild!
Best mountain biking/whistler/jump/technical trail riding video I’ve seen. Thanks for this awesome vid!
Definitely deserved its own video. The dusty free-for-all at the end looked like a blast.
Yeah it shows the speed and the full length of ur ride.
Love the follow & sessioning aspect of this vid as well as the amazingly talented kids.
One of your best!
This is one of the most impressive bike videos I've ever seen. Both of you guys are seriously talented!
I am living vicariously through your video. I always imagined what this kind of ride would be like, and you've caught it, right down to every deep breath.
Sick to see you holding his wheel! He was fast, but you arent giving yourself enough credit. Awesome video
It looks like Phill could go a bit faster in certain areas right?
@@rafaelparedes1937 I think its just Phil's fitness level. He's definitely fast too.
@@rafaelparedes1937 Ye, but Wyn could too. Be sure of it.
I always find my way back to this video, and i thought the same thing. Phil is very humble. You could tell by the end of the video he had Wyn’s respect. Well deserved IMO. Phil is a legend if you ask me.
@@miker3131 def a modest fellow... even more respect for that....!!!!!!!
Great video Phil. My kids and I love your pure enthusiam for the sport. Your an inspiration.
oh my, oh my, oh my, best POV, a pro in front really shows in the camera what I feel riding
and a video guy with the skills to follow and comment is awesome!!!
This was one of the most entertaining vidz I’ve watched lately. Good job man
That was sick shredding from you and Wyn. He makes it look far too easy and you were right about his interviews bringing the personality out of the World Cup racers. Wyn TV is always worth a watch.
That was great to watch.Wyn is a class act...everything is does from riding to helping fund privateers (even cleaning their bikes) looks pure class and so unselfish.
Hi Phil
The algorithm suggested this when I looked up “Whistler”. This is without doubt you best video! I loved it so much I watched it twice! 😎🤟🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I love the videos by this MTB biker, love to hear everything, the bikers in this videos are sick skilled, like no others . Phill is very humble and unpretentious, he doesn't make me feel like I don't know how to ride
Great video Phil! (as always)
It was great to see and appreciate Wyn’s riding from your POV.
This was one of my favorite mountain biking videos this summer Phil. Loved every part of it!
Dude, I know it's one of your old vids but it's one of my favourites to date. Just so exciting and good to get an idea of what that hip jump feels like if you nail it like you did. Great job bro!!!!
Awesome man! You are such an amazing rider and its incredible to see you riding with Wyn!
Your giggles were cracking me up. Looks like you had a great time.
Normally when I see a video of this length I’ll just skip, but given it was produced by you I had to watch and I’m glad I did. Your content is always amazing. Looking forward to the next.
Phil, such good riding. You are absolutely smashing it. Sending it deep and railing some physically demanding corners. Respect. Also, Wyn has some serious trail vision making gaps look easy on a blind run.
Such flow! Awesome watching you guys shred. Nice one Phil
You too, are amazing! Wyn is totally nuts! Landing, after huge air, to a manual? What? Woo!
Those GT wings are keeping Phil in the air so long he's almost landing on the next take off. Great vid, love seeing ppl having fun and adding the kids in at the end was a good finish..
Hey Phil, That was a amazing video. It was fun watching you keeping up with you friend the down hill racer hitting some of those big jumps. It was great to see the respect you had for your friend and fellow riders and the fun you were having with the down hill Racer and then running in to those kids at the end. Amazing riders. I'm to old to due these kind of things but sure was fun watching. Keep up the good work.
Closed my eyes soo many times watching this.... You guys are brilliant to watch. Looking at buying my first MTB in 20 years this week, this just made me go all out and get Ebike so I can get up the hills to play.
Great video you crazy buggers
Wyn is so fast, despite how casual he comes across most of the time. I really liked this video, and the humility you displayed in it. Nice one man!
He's also incredibly bright. Him and his brother are really smart and thoughtful people. They are also halarious
Saw them filming it in WBP, top lads and great production as as always. Kiwis Rock!
I love this video Phil. This is awesome content, period. Wyn is incredible and you showed how well you ride, too.
That was super cool Phil, fantastic skills and those bikes , man they are good ! In fact your equipment is super good , my bike and myself would be smashed too pieces if I tried it. They way you hang in the air is awesome as is the camera work and the audio , love the soundtrack , you know your working hard when you and your bike are making those noises......love it !!!!
This was a awesome video! Hope fully you two can ride more together. 👍👍
my favorite line is "this is just a leisure pace". Clearly EWS pros are on a different level than the rest of us.
Wow that was an awesome video, it blows me away that you guys can ride that fast down those gnarly trails. Keep it up
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Just epic stuff so thanks Phil!
That was freakin awesomeness 🤘. Wyn is our home town hero!
Phil fanboy-ing a lil bit 😂 Both of them are soo dang fast 🤟
There's definitely a few riders who I fanboy over (mainly from a distance though)
@@SkillsWithPhil I would've done the same if I get the chance to ride with you. Only difference is I wouldn't be able to keep up that close 😂 You guys are on a way way different level!
i mean the guy probably would have done the same with his pyjamas on..you gotta pay respect sometimes
So fun to watch. The skill here is mind boggling. To maintain these lines at that speed is unimaginable.thanks for the cool humble video.
That was one of my favorite videos! Amazing riding Phil!!
3:04 LOL Wyn was tailgating that guy hard. I feel bad for the guy in front. He had a pro racer riding his ass
I don't understand why he wouldn't pull over
@@ryliek6832 ego. At Whistler there is ALWAYS going to be a bunch of people faster and more skillful than you. Just let them through, and follow if you can. :)
@@tsubakisan1147 Yup
No Homo lol
Not many places to pull over from what I could see
This just blows my mind. I mean when it comes to pro ranks Wyn isn't even one of the fastest (top 20ish rider), but his leisure speed is like that. Mental.
Phil. You are just brilliant. I used to race for team Kuwahara way back in the 80's and what you all do today just inspires. Especially the young riders. SO cool. Thank you for the past 30 minutes. I mean it.
By Kuwahara, that means Super-BMX to me! OMG that make ME sooooo old now remembering when I lived and breathed Super-BMX and followed race teams like Brent and Brian Patterson religiously and spending Saturday morning at the local races, plus ALSO working so hard as a young teen at odd jobs for a whole year to buy a bike with a full Chromoly frame, Super-Tuffs for wheels and all Shimano parts --- I think it was a Mongoose if I remember correctly after all these years --- OH WOW!

I've been bingewatching mtb videos and just came across this one. I haven't ridden a mtb in over 20 years. Although I completely understand the chasm of experience and skill between me and even the greenest rider in this video, I'm so inspired to have a go and find a nice used bike. Thanks and nice channel!SUBSCRIBED!
gotta love Wyn, one of the coolest dudes in the industry
Frickin awesome! Wyn is so chill after hitting some crazy shit.
Like it was nothing...😳
Had to stop at 5:34 just to comment how sick this run is so far. Phil you were 100% correct when you said this deserves it's own video. Awesome run and great video
That was an awesome session guys! No matter who was stalking who, that was some damn fine editing as well by the way 🤘
Wyn is a great Kiwi ambassador. Looks like Kiwi's can fly after all and also do insane manuals haha
Great vid. Hopefully people will realize that a 30+- WC rank is really fast as hell no matter how you look at i t, specially in their leisurly setting. Wyn killing it!
Phil, this video was awesome. Enjoy these vids with you riding with pro guys. Your a pro in your own way. Dont let your self down like these guys are way better. You handle yourself very well on these trails.
Unreal best raw video I've seen. Great rips
I love this behind the scene look! I've always been curious how filming MTB videos works
It's a pain in the ass but ain't no easy way
Feedback: This is my favorite Whistler video this year! I have been a longtime watcher of your videos and Wyn is one of my favorites in the sport and watching you two ride together was a blast. I can't believe his speed and control riding trails blind with a broken rib on a mullet bike. Loved the manuals he was pulling the last half of the video. Loved the editing on this video. Good job being satisfied with that hip! That thing looks huge. I will be there in two weeks and looking forward to hitting those same trails but with slightly less style points than you guys.
Thanks for the kind words friend :)
You're going to be going when Whistler is at its best; best conditions, least amount of lift lines. I hope you have a great stay. PS, lift coffee is the perfect spot to go relax and have a cup of joe. And the Fudge shop just nextdoor has dope icecream!
@@SkillsWithPhil You may have been looking for comments on editing, format, etc. I just thought the video was awesome because it was like I got to play bikes with you two and that made it so fun for me to watch. Thanks for the tip on those two spots in the village! I will definitely check them out.
