But if church is against it, what was the necessity of this new document when there was already the sacrament of confession and a provison for all individuals to get blessed at any time ??

You do not permit same-sex marriage, but you permit same-sex live-in partners ?! You can bless homosexual couples, but you do not bless homosexual union. Don't you know that there can never be a homosexual couple without homosexual union? Blessing homosexual individuals to strengthen their struggle to overcome homosexual tendency is meaningful. But blessing a homosexual couple who believe that they are happy to continue living in sinful carnal sexual relationship is meaningless. Blessing is not a magic in the priest's hands, but it is by the power of the Holy Spirit. Let us not mock and scandalize the Holy Spirit.

Jesus did not say marriage, as the Church says. He says anyone clinging together. Marriage is the name given by us, same as Trinity is not mentioned but the essence of 3 persons in one Almighty s mentioned. Hence any abominational relationship is prohibited, even if it is man with animal. The document says irrational relationship, even an animal with a man or woman can be brought to the church to be blessed, let alone homosexuals.
Eventually Vatican will approve same sex marriage, this document of pope is just the first subtle and cunning move for a culmunative future.

I left the Catholic Church 40 years ago as I became a True believer in Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. The Word of God is my guide not churches particularly this one who thinks they can change with public opinion somewhat like a Camelon. God's word is competed revelation nothing to be added and a warning to any who take away from it. Put all your Faith and Trust in the Lord Jesus, only He can forgive sin as the Bible says. ❤

The Catholic Church in India need to take an uncomprmising stand against homosexuality as has been done by the African Churches and Polish Church. Diluting Churches stand will eventually lead to approving homosexual unions as has been done by the Anglican and other liberal Churches. Fr. Edattu need to spend more time in humble and prolonged prayer to be guided by the Holy Spirit rather than his ego and his desire to be in the good books of Vatican.
Jesus lived with us sinners and blessed all. But he did not become a sinner
A similar blessing is offered at the end of every Holy Mass..which anyone can avail!!

Priests dont need to bless same sex couple, they could be blessed individually because this will create alot of misunderstanding and confusion in the church. I personally feel this should not be encouraged. Infact priest should counsel such couples and just pray for them instead of blessing them. Just feeling so worried about the next generation because of all this nonsense going on.

We have been warned the consecration of the bread and wine will not be done properly soon so all will be welcome. Once people let this slip by with their lack of faith, these things happen. If priests can be changed through prayer..I suggest organize some people and let all of them pray for the pope/priests daily atleast 7 hours till God is 'forced' to make them holy through non-ceasing prayers.May be God will change priests, pope based on the number of hours, days and intensity of the prayers of such group?!

It is totally immoral and illicit to give blessings for homosexualality. Never think and acceptable to any god fearing Christians. If this is implemented what is the difference between a person committing sextual sin oneself
Stop trying to justify Fr.Joseph. People living in an irregular union such as a homosexual "couple" cannot be blessed as a couple. Even when the Mass ended the Priest gives his blessings, its enough.. They are choosing to disregard the teachings of God and Jesus and living in a sinful relationship by coming for blessings in couple..Stop trying to explain it away when it's wrong.
Jesus himself didn't condemned the woman caught in the act of Adultery. Who are we to condemn others? Shouldn't we pray for them? Sometimes, we are going above Jesus himself. 🙁

As Christian parents we must first ask ourselves if 1) our mind, heart & actions are aligned to the Word of God
2) are we bringing up our children according to the Word or God
3) even if our children go astray are we able to bring them back on the right path with forgiveness & love, like the father of the prodigal son did
Or are we simply busy finding others faults, judging them & considering ourselves absolutely righteous.
If we truly follow the only commandment Jesus gave us - to Love - which includes to forgive, pray for them & do good to them, our world wouldn't be in such a big mess

This document from the pope could have been considered faithful if it had mandated the priest to specifically call for repentance and a turning away from their sin in his blessing .
But the document seems to not need to even know about whether the couple is in a state of repentance or not . No questions need to be asked of the couple on this .
The document at this point becomes blasphemous as when a couple presents themselves as a couple to be blessed the priest is blessing a relationship which is intrinsically disordered .Saying that only the good elements in the relation is being blessed also does not make it right as most sinful situations have good elements in them
Could a polygamist who loves his wives and cares for them tenderly come to a priest along with his wives and ask for a blessing for them as a union of three. ??

Jesus knew Peter was going to deny him, Judas was going to betray Him. However he had last supper with them, meaning he blessed them. It was upto them to decide what they will do.

This papal document is not about individuals as it talks about couples coming as a couple to the priest for a blessing .In this case what is presented before the priest is an intrinsically disordered relationship . The church cannot bless intrinsically disordered relationships especially when that there is no call for repentance being mandated.

Fr. Joseph makes the claim that he has read the entire document and then goes on to defend the Pope's position. First of all, my comments are strictly directed towards homosexual behavior; not mere temptations.
The document DOES NOT CONTAIN A WARNING ABOUT THE SINFUL NATURE OF GAY BEHAVIOUR !!! This is the most critical element that is missing from the document.
I am surprised that Fr. Joseph has compared a murderer coming with repentance to that of a gay couple coming to a priest for blessing. When a gay COUPLE comes to a priest, does Fr. Joseph seriously think that they come with a repentant heart? The document should have included an instruction to warn gay couples about God's say in the matter. Would any priest actually tell a gay couple - who comes for blessing - that the blessing should not be taken as a sign of marriage? I think most of us know that Pope Francis has a soft heart, but would a loving parent encourage their child to play with poison. I think not!
Because I feel very strongly about this, I will go on the say that the Pope has no authority, no business to bless something that God condemns. If he does not like it, he should step down instead created so much murkiness in the church.
