Delroy is the type of old school sparky that starts a job and finishes it no matter how complicated the situation may be.For every problem has a solution.❤️🙏😂Amazing work.👌👏
Bet the sparky recommending a board change would slap in a screwfix special BG with no grommets or any thought of fire sealant, then bugger off never to be seen again.
Nice one Del! This was a pig of a job but you stuck with it. Kudos to you for advising the client a new consumer unit was unnecessary. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of this pans out. Great work Delroy, best spark on UA-cam 👊🏼
That job is really nightmare, the job was really hard, another electrician will run away from it, but you always show that you doing the hard once, and I think no benefit on it.. you did great job 👏
100% time for a Quinetic here, but the time you’ve added all the labour for this and the damage it’s far cheaper and easier to use the Quinetic switching.
This is in no way critical of the lady who was kind enough to let us see you working in her home. Is it common for people to have their home freshly decorated and then think: "We should get the electrics changed" and ask you not to damage their wallpaper etc? Besides being a true master of one trade you do need to be a jack of others like carpenter and plasterer. I'll never work with electric circuits that take anything above a 9v battery but I love watching you work. You’re always honest and courteous in all your interactions with your clients and you never cut corners. The great thing is all your customers can watch your videos and see why you do what you’re doing and see other electricians agree with your choices in the comments. I'd say I agree with you as well but I’m not sure the opinion of an ex chef with a law degree carries much weight.
That job really was a nightmare. Those are the ones that bite you in the pocket. To me it looks like the lighting should have been re-wired. The time it takes to work out what had been done more to the point how it had been done you may as well start again. I really admire the way you stick to the task whatever the job throws at you. Great work as always.
I would have had a melt down fair play for sorting that out . Like other people said the radiator mounted at high level should have had alarm bells ringing 👍👍🙏
I've got a bit of a gripe now, I've subscribed to a few electricians channels and if they're not advertising stuff they're just playing around. Thanks for your videos and you should be getting the views that the others are getting
One of your best vids yet. Horrendous job. Glad I'm S&T on the railways I could not stand some of the problems you get on public networks. Your doing a fine job.
Don't know if you have used Quinetic wireless switches from TLC before, but for these kind of switching jobs they would save you loads of time and holes in walls/ceilings! ;-)
Hard one for you there Del. As has been said Quinetic would have been your friend on this job. Only a live (no neutral) required at one switch, then the others need NO wires at all. Easy to set up and pair the wireless switches with the base. No internet or wifi required. We know you are old school but check them out, you wouldn't regret it on a job like this.
Hi Delroy, your a hero for taking this one on , It was a jar of worms for sure, thanks for the video, stay safe mate, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart.uk.
one advantage you have in GB is your jboxes can be hidden under floor boards in the n.america all j-boxes have to be easy accesable with out pullig up floor boards or unscrewing wall panels
Delroy for the light switch arrangements did you try the Quinetic product range ? I'm sure their product range would have solved all the lighting concerns with less wiring and maybe no cable routing.
Before making holes in ceiling for recessed lights, drill the center pilot hole first, then push up a length of green and yellow sleeving. If you can access ceiling above i.e. loft or floorboards, you can find the sleeving easily and you can visually check to see if you need to reposition to avoid joist. If you can't access floor above, you can drill 2 additional pilot holes each side of the circumference and push up a small screwdriver to see if you get any resistance. Also a stud finder helps to mark positions of the plasterboard screws so you can get a rough idea of where the joist timbers are. Making good small pilot holes is a lot quicker than patching in a 70mm disc 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great content buddy you know you can put a connection across a intermediate switch (over the strappers)makes no difference as it would be the same at either end 😊
Dell not sure if you’ve tried the Quinetic switches and relays, but for a job like this, and going forward it will save you a few headaches 😂worth getting familiar with these 👍🏻
That was painful to watch. Del def worth thinking about using quinetic switches. You would have had it done in no time , less mess and usualy cheaper for the customer (after repairs etc to make good) . Good content on the vid 👌
Mate, house bashing is fine, but going in after some amateur has already run cables, and theres no easy way of putting it right it is another. Respect to you mate cos I'd walk away from these sort of job, cos you know the customer aint gonna be willing to pay for the time and effort involved in putting it right. It's just more ag than it's worth..
Looks like client doesn't like builder or previous electrician was too expensive to do work before all this nice work was done simple ! ;) but respect for what you done with this installation.
Easy change the cable from a switch line downstairs feeding the upstairs light to a permanent live then drop a switch line from upstairs light to make 3 plate at the upstairs light
What I've learned is that jobs that have been hung up by other electricians I dont ever take. Clients dont pay and you have to go through with a fine teeth comb
Delroy - Can you have a metal clad mainboard installed, no earth still on the lighting circuit (plastic lights) and have an electrical cert? I don't think you can but a sparky visited family and said he can?
That " electrician" with his 18 ed. Regulations. If the fuse board is safe and in good condition and still serving the purpose of its design, no need to change it.
I saw the new logo a couple episodes ago I love the spark/plug part. So disappointing the wallpaper with the trees had to be cut that was actually kind of nice wallpaper. Sheesh that looks like a mess, little bit of DIY and a little bit of let's just cover over our problems.
Delroy is the type of old school sparky that starts a job and finishes it no matter how complicated the situation may be.For every problem has a solution.❤️🙏😂Amazing work.👌👏

Tell me more about the fire sealant
Nice one Del! This was a pig of a job but you stuck with it. Kudos to you for advising the client a new consumer unit was unnecessary. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of this pans out. Great work Delroy, best spark on UA-cam 👊🏼
That job is really nightmare, the job was really hard, another electrician will run away from it, but you always show that you doing the hard once, and I think no benefit on it.. you did great job 👏
I really felt for you there Delroy and just could not stop thinking maybe a Quinetic.....😉
I thought same thing.. if it ended up being a pain in the arse just do a quinetic switch
100% time for a Quinetic here, but the time you’ve added all the labour for this and the damage it’s far cheaper and easier to use the Quinetic switching.
Same here, first thought qunetic.

Gracious man to talk about the problems, good man!!

Great work Delroy I admire u work u are a legend sparkie
I would have had a melt down fair play for sorting that out . Like other people said the radiator mounted at high level should have had alarm bells ringing 👍👍🙏
The sockets only need to be 450 in a new build..
I could re wire an old house and keep them at 300. It's just an advisory as of part M
I've got a bit of a gripe now, I've subscribed to a few electricians channels and if they're not advertising stuff they're just playing around. Thanks for your videos and you should be getting the views that the others are getting
As you said nothing wrong with that Hager DB looked well installed
One of your best vids yet. Horrendous job. Glad I'm S&T on the railways I could not stand some of the problems you get on public networks. Your doing a fine job.
What mess delroy but you're brilliant to see that you're having a great time 😊
Excellent work Delroy!!
When you said I have to leave that in place and bring my own line up here I felt for you man. You are very patient.
Don't know if you have used Quinetic wireless switches from TLC before, but for these kind of switching jobs they would save you loads of time and holes in walls/ceilings! ;-)
Great work Del. These types of jobs are very difficult to price.

Exactly my thoughts to, less damage, I've used for a client the original installer's said couldn't be done
Great job Del, reminds me why I hate house bashing and why I only concentrate on commercial.
Nice one! You could have installed an Air Con system at the same time with all those holes
Delroy, swap out those halogen Gu10s in the kitchen ceiling for LEDs. Less issues with the over heating.
Well done dell u don’t duck and dive from these hard jobs I know lot of sparks will not do these kinds of jobs
Nightmare for real! Kinetic switches would've saved you a lot of work
Swop one of the strapper legs at the intermediate switch
Good old delroy, quality sparks ✌️

Use a rigid wire coat hanger instead
You are a good man
Quinetic mate.....
Great content buddy you know you can put a connection across a intermediate switch (over the strappers)makes no difference as it would be the same at either end 😊
WHAT A NIGHTMARE ! This why i gave this trade up ! fed up of sorting out other peoples bodges ! Delroy is a saint !
Me: "I want my rad here"
Plumber: "I think here"
@2:24
Dell not sure if you’ve tried the Quinetic switches and relays, but for a job like this, and going forward it will save you a few headaches 😂worth getting familiar with these 👍🏻
keep up the good work .hope you didt loose on that job
Well done Dell
Nice vlog delroy If quinetic aren’t sending you some switches and receivers then they’re missing a trick! It’s free advertising for them after all 👍
That was painful to watch. Del def worth thinking about using quinetic switches. You would have had it done in no time , less mess and usualy cheaper for the customer (after repairs etc to make good) . Good content on the vid 👌
You're a good man delroy, you can't help but feel sorry for the client whilst watching this video. Good video as always 👍
Yes them reds warm the ceiling up high level lol
Love your reality jobs del , I’m something similar with a friends rental agency repairs 🍻😂
Well done nice job 👏
Mate, house bashing is fine, but going in after some amateur has already run cables, and theres no easy way of putting it right it is another. Top man Del
Radiator in the kitchen raised my eyebrows 😀😀
I would have seen the position of THAT radiator and walked off the job before I started. Must be easier ways to make money. 😩
Delroy, love the content, surely the quinetic would have been an awful lot easier, quicker and possibly not much more cost
thats
what I was thinking. bit less labour but much less messing about!
Love your content such a genuine electrician, shows warts and all
a new fuse-board/db ? she needs the whole house rewired ? also cant believe the radiator up that high see it all now well done del
Jesus - what a nightmare - You have the patience of a saint Del. Good to watch though
Those rads must have only warmed the ceiling and the above flat.
🤣🤣🤣 looks ridiculous
Great stuff Delroy Master Sparky.
It’s all about that radiator 😳😂
Looks like a nightmare of a job, nice work though, client will be happy once the decorator comes in haha!
More hassle than they are worth.once bitten.
This job gives me major anxiety
Nice work delroy. But how you work in gloves is beyond me. 🤔
Delroy - Can you have a metal clad mainboard installed, no earth still on the lighting circuit (plastic lights) and have an electrical cert? I don't think you can but a sparky visited family and said he can?
Could have saved 90% of the hassle and mess with changeover light switches by just installing Quinetic stuff....
Agreed on this comment. If it doesn't work your replace both parts at the same time which cost minimal compared to running new legs of cable.
What CAD program do you use to draw electrical schemes ?
😂
What’s the name of the song?
Does it always cold where you at???😅
Quinetic switching could have helped here del
Can we just take in that radiator...
Delroy, I love you and your content but you gotta figure out your camera's anti-flicker setting lol
I think there should be protection when you’re running the cable in that height
Nice place for once Delroy!?! 'Don't wanna do any damage if I can help it.....' :-)
Reminds me of those houses which are mostly design over function
Patience
17.58 you got a ghost closing the door
Can't see the woods for the trees...
Defo a nightmare.
This job seems never ending 😂
Looks like it may of been easier to of used Quinetic switches.
Certainly made Swiss 🧀 of that ceiling.
Quinetic switches would have been the perfect application
That " electrician" with his 18 ed. Regulations. If the fuse board is safe and in good condition and still serving the purpose of its design, no need to change it.
Whats the song Delroy?
Lordy Lord, soooo many holes😆😅😄
deffinately should’ve used Quinetic Delroy
I saw the new logo a couple episodes ago I love the spark/plug part.
So disappointing the wallpaper with the trees had to be cut that was actually kind of nice wallpaper.
Sheesh that looks like a mess, little bit of DIY and a little bit of let's just cover over our problems.
The 21st century is a nightmare.
Holy smoke
Lol that radiator
Why the hell they need 2 2 way switches 3ft apart from each other on the same wall to control the same lights? Lazy or what?
How the hell do you make any money on a job like that!
I feel for the electrician that he thought the job will take 2days and now takes more like a week.?
🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
British homes make me shake my head.
Glad I retired 😺
It's amazing what stupidity is used to do a shortcut.
