@@tims63falcon: that doesn't surprise me...Dad and I have spent that kind of time on some with out the retractable top. Case in point..going on 10 yrs on a 64 El Camino ( only because the owner keeps changing or adding modifications) we handed it over to some other capable hands as Dad closed up shop due to cancer 😢
I'm a Chevy Corvette guy from those days, but the 63 is one of the best looking Falcons ever. Then this genius invents this. Fantastic, I'm almost jealous!!!
This one is an awesome conversion. I had a HS friend who bought a running 63 Falcon as his first car (1985) for like 200 bucks and ended up spending 300 for new tires and a jack. Of course his 'friends' jacked up his car and hid the tires from him. :)
My 1st car when I was 16 was a 1963 Ford Falcon 2 door, just like this. Not retractable, of course. It had a 200 cubic inch inline 6 with a 3 speed automatic transmission. Bucket seats and a cool chrome console. That car saw a lot of hard miles, and a shitload of partying! Lol. I put a thumping Alpine system in it. That car never let me down, and I actually blew one of my friends away when I left his house one time - somehow I was able to get the tire to break loose by power braking it, and left a patch about 50 feet long in front of his house. Lol. They talked about that at school for weeks! 1983. I'd give anything to go back and do it again. These kids today will never know what it was like to live without cell phones and computers. The world was a much better place. And don't even get me started about the music.
Too bad you didn’t have the Falcon Sprint with the 260 V8 and a 4-speed. I liked those better than the Mustang. (They shared most components under the skin!)
This is amazing. And just look at the guy with the orange shirt (the owner and builder probably ?), he looks so proud! Takes a lot of pure passion to achieve this, absolutely wonderful piece of work.
VERY interesting! A black falcon is cool on it's own. You've made yours way extra cool. Wire wheel covers on trailer and better fitting rear cover would take it over the top!
This is like watching paint dry! Good to know it was sunny out that day and not have one of those fast approaching storms we get every once in a while.
You are a great designer and intelligent engineer. The world needs more men like you. I wish I had the money to buy one or have you design one for me. Thank you Deborah
The tonneau cover is a little bulky for my personal taste but the car itself definitely makes a statement! Ford should have made ragtop Falcon with a tonneau cover like the Thunderbird roadster. I am glad you created one.
A bit much to have to tow a trailer to house the tonneau cover, couldn't it have been carried in the trunk and pull it out half way through the lengthy retraction process? Awesome design though, I'd just rather change it at home instead of towing the trailer even though it is also an awesome setup on its own.
It take for ever...........to open that first hatch. And see it close again....! Then await the moment we all wait for to reveal thats whats in the back. And almost like its magic when he makes that one roof disappear, then he pulls out this second roof out of the back! People were shocked and in awe of this contraption. This little Falcon looks slick, like it came as a factory option. I can assure you it did not.

The amount of ingenuity and genius it took to create this blows my mind. Probably the only retractable Falcon on Earth! I know it needs to look close to stock but the only thing I'd add would be 8 Crager classic wheels and keep the stock wheel covers sealed in plastic to preserve them. I'd give almost anything for the car and matching trailer. I bet he has a matching pool table too.
Quite an engineering feat you did. I was expecting a FORD GALAXY split roof but you did it with a one piece roof idea. The Taneau boot idea much like the T-Birds that came as an option was a nice touch as well. Matching trailer is a nice addition as well. Nicely executed my man.

Great idea, with great execution of the changes. Only thing that would improve the overall look would be a set of nice rims and tire on both the car and the trailer. The present hubcaps and tires let down the car as they were an afterthought. Cool, i have always liked the Falcon.

Aquí en mi ciudad, donde llueve repentinamente y cada dos horas, tendrías que olvidarte de ese confort a menos de que lleves un paraguas a bordo..
It takes a car guy to understand that excessive just isn't. Awesome car!
Beautifully done, but grossly inefficient use of space & support equipment. Cheers!
Great idea, with great execution of the changes. Only thing that would improve the overall look would be a set of nice rims and tire on both the car and the trailer. The present hubcaps and tires let down the car as they were an afterthought. Cool, i have always liked the Falcon.
