I have a '63 convertible, and have wanted to make a cover for the rear seats, similar to what you did. It reminds me of the T-Bird, that had this as an option, turning the Falcon into a 2 seater. I never thought of the retractable roof! BTW, beautiful car buddy!
StellarBlue1 Yeah I guess that's a comment you could make if you still wanted to be an ass about things ..... Ever watch a Ford Fairlane convertible top go up-and-down or maybe a Cadillac XLR? I'm thinking it takes about the same amount of time, be quiet now.....thanks.

For practicality, it only gets a "C-". Ingenuity, "A+". Personally I like the hardtop version better and I'm not pulling that trailer around all the time, I don't care how good it looks. But it's not mine to drive. An amazing amount of engineering and work went into this, obviously.
I love Chevy's as well as Fords, But the 1965 thru 67 ford Galaxies and Fairlane's seem to be harder to find than the Chevys, And those were great years for Ford, Plenty of muscle and a classy body style. With beautiful sports interiors and those 351 Cleveland motors were strong.
All you folks who maintain these works of art and their engineering prowess, ought to be congratulated, wonderful example of a vintage ,almost unique in appearance, and beauty !Well done !!
The tonneau cover is a little bulky for my personal taste but the car itself definitely makes a statement! Ford should have made ragtop Falcon with a tonneau cover like the Thunderbird roadster. I am glad you created one.
A bit much to have to tow a trailer to house the tonneau cover, couldn't it have been carried in the trunk and pull it out half way through the lengthy retraction process? Awesome design though, I'd just rather change it at home instead of towing the trailer even though it is also an awesome setup on its own.
Just being curious, are you aware that Ford Australia built six Falcon retractables? They were based on the Aussie Falcon utility ("Ute"). Their Ute looked like the Stateside Ranchero but the body length was the same as the Falcon sedans. Almost forgot, their retractable had the two piece roof ala the big Ford retractable here in the states. Not uncommon to share engineering w/ Ford U.S. Come to think of it Ford Australia created the "Ute" back in 1934 but Ford US never followed until the 1957 model year. RCR CR (FCA 475)
Your Falcon rocks!! My family is a Ford family. Lot's of Falcons, Comets, Mavricks, Torinos, F-100's & 150's, Club Wagons, Granadas, LTD's and Mercs. My favorite....1972 LTD dark green w/400 small block. Not fast but lot's of power and very, very pretty. 2nd place ....my 1970 Falcon ...man she was quick. Soooo quick off the line....had to sand bag the rear end to race. She was factory special built for pursuit vehicle. Top speed 128 mph.....but no more.
VERY interesting! A black falcon is cool on it's own. You've made yours way extra cool. Wire wheel covers on trailer and better fitting rear cover would take it over the top!
This one is an awesome conversion. I had a HS friend who bought a running 63 Falcon as his first car (1985) for like 200 bucks and ended up spending 300 for new tires and a jack. Of course his 'friends' jacked up his car and hid the tires from him. :)
This is amazing. And just look at the guy with the orange shirt (the owner and builder probably ?), he looks so proud! Takes a lot of pure passion to achieve this, absolutely wonderful piece of work.
I didn't read the description first. As I was watching I was thinking "They manufactured a car that goes from being a normal four seater to a two seater with no cargo space, that you have to tow a trailer behind with the rest of the car in." Then I saw the bloke had built it himself and thought "He's very clever and skilled to make that "
After all that custom work I can see why he couldn’t afford tire shine .... lol. That’s jokes w love from a car guy! Beautiful car and classic w taste. Mopar fans must give thumbs down this is too kool for Chrysler
My 1st car when I was 16 was a 1963 Ford Falcon 2 door, just like this. Not retractable, of course. It had a 200 cubic inch inline 6 with a 3 speed automatic transmission. Bucket seats and a cool chrome console. That car saw a lot of hard miles, and a shitload of partying! Lol. I put a thumping Alpine system in it. That car never let me down, and I actually blew one of my friends away when I left his house one time - somehow I was able to get the tire to break loose by power braking it, and left a patch about 50 feet long in front of his house. Lol. They talked about that at school for weeks! 1983. I'd give anything to go back and do it again. These kids today will never know what it was like to live without cell phones and computers. The world was a much better place. And don't even get me started about the music.
Too bad you didn’t have the Falcon Sprint with the 260 V8 and a 4-speed. I liked those better than the Mustang. (They shared most components under the skin!)

Hope you installed a bilge pump in the car for those unexpected rain storms you may encounter on a summer drive.

I hope your engine was running when you did that cuz sooner or later you're going to burn out your battery
