- A trip across the English Channel on the Flight Deck of the SRN4 hovercraft Swift, back in the day (1990)!! From www.jameshovercraft.co.uk
thanks for posting.. remind me when i was young i saw this hovercraft at boulogne (france)..
Cockpit visits while in motion days are well and truly over :(
heh, ta, glad it brought back memories. filming skills irrelevant: they're the best (just imagine the worst) cuts from an old family video - took days of edits!
I LOVE THEM
@balkus1 A good point raised. Age-old debate: When the hovercraft was first invented, the shipbuilders didn't want anything to do with it, they said it was a plane, and the aircraft manufacturers said exactly the opposite!
@TheDane2006 Cheers. The answer, they had to be Ocean Masters AND qualified pilots to fulfil the role, at least at Hoverspeed - I don't know what the requirements are like with other civil companies.
Sorry for asking a bit lame perhaps, but are those two steering Aircraft Pilots or are they Ship Captains?
Nice video BTW.
wow the cockpit. - the 1989 video guy
Would be nice if you went to camera school. It's very frustrating for the viewer. From the mid 80's to the mid 90's i must of been on the hovercraft more than 20 times. It is truly missed!!!!
