This reminds me of like when Stan Lee passed away.
Like right after you hear about it, you're just in shock, y'know.
Someone who you didn't realize just how MUCH their work meant to you and impacted you.
I, like many others, will be sharing Toriyama's work to future generations in my life.
    This is going to hurt.
But just like Goku or Vegeta or Piccolo, don't let this beat you, and get back up.
And use this feeling to better your self.
I've never met Toriyama, but I think it's safe to say he would want people to look back and be able to smile.

It’s crazy because he was such a private person, there’s literally only about three pictures of the man online, he’s only done one on camera interview back in the 80s but yet his death impacted the whole world. I grew up watching Dragon Ball Z on toonami and of course the Budokai and Tenkaichi games but didn’t start getting into the manga until 2010. I took a break from Dragon Ball after graduating but the lockdown in 2020 is when I got back into it and actually started admiring Toriyama as both an artist and a storyteller. Of course as a kid I mainly just cared about the transformations but in 2020 that’s when I actually started to see the message behind the story and the characters and also Totally Not Mark’s review series on DBZ made me appreciate it more and Toriyama’s ability to tell stories thru fights. Like the mangaka for One Piece said, it really doesn’t feel like he’s gone because he already felt like “a star in the heavens even while alive” I just hope Dragon Ball and his other works are treated with respect and care now that he’s gone

It wouldn't hit me as hard as it hit others because I didn't grow up with the show but I always heard about it, saw memorable clips of it on the internet, fell in love with the characters from the franchise, and honestly, whether I'm conscious of it or not, Dragon Ball has got to be a big reason why I decided to begin my own manga series. It sucks that I have to hear about the passing of such a huge role model to not just writers like me but people in general, especially a day before my birthday party and 3 days before my birthday. For anyone that might've known about her, within today as well it was also announced that the voice actress Tarako, who's done a lot of pretty big roles in anime and games, also passed away, at 63. Not trying to take away from Toriyama, just figured I'd mention it so both can have respects given to them.

I grew up watching Dragon Ball Z and have been a fan of it for a very, VERY long time, longer than I've been a fan of any franchise, longer than Pokemon or Sonic or Naruto or One Piece. Hearing this news is just heartbreaking, it's still not something I'm ready to accept, considering just HOW big of an impact he made on global pop culture, almost on the same level as Walt Disney and Stan Lee have.

I feel like you never truly know how much someone meant to you until they are gone. Although I have never touched his works personally (never got around to it), I've always had alot of respect for him and what he did for entertainment industry and culture as a whole. Some of the anime and manga that were inspired by Dragon Ball are pieces of media I hold very dear to me, and I will always thank Toriyama for his influence. Rest In Piece, Legend ❤

Akira made mine and many others childhoods. Made some of the best memories I have playing DBZ games, watching the animes. The lessons, characters and story beats of DB helping shape who I am today.
That kind of gratitude is immesurable.

I'm not really into Dragon Ball, but I have an older sister and my friends that are into Dragon Ball. I happen to play few of the games and saw that one movie where they all fighting with Broly and I thought it was cool.
