DB Z (and GitS) introduced me into Anime genre. I was so close to visiting Japan one point myself. I had experience with modeling and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part and I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity to visit the place that inspired artists like Toriyama San.

To people confused about their grief. The passing of someone like Toriyama is a unique kind of grief. 99% of us never met him and yet he changed our lives. I’ve already seen people saying don’t be sad Dragon ball will keep going. But it’s not the franchise itself that changes our lives it’s the vision of this one man. It will be hard for anyone outside the fandom to understand what it’s like but don’t be afraid to grieve, don’t think you shouldn’t because you didn’t know him. Dragon ball helped me have so many experiences and meet people and have hype community reactions but it was also there in moments with just me. Those are the moments coming to mind right now, quiet moments alone with this series. For me is was watching Goku go super Saiyan 3 before all my sport matches to hype me up. And it was playing kakarot after a bad breakup, small moments that no one will know about that’s what’s hitting me the hardest. This kind of grief also gives us a community to help each other out through this process, if you’re a new or old dragon ball fan we are all feeling the same thing and we can all be there for each other through this ❤️

I’ll be honest, I kept refreshing UA-cam for this video. I have been watching you truth since before the 3rd anniversary, and I remember getting into dokkan (and heavily back into dragon ball z) my first semester in community college. This anime, and this creator is arguably one of the most influential creations in media history (not exaggerating). I’ve heard of this series keeping people from suicide, bad choices in life, and just helping people through rough situations in life. Very thankful for Toriyama’s creative vision, iconic characters, and just being a solid dude in general. May Snake Way treat you well, Toriyama-Sama.

Akira Toriyama and dragon ball in general were such a big part in my life it still feels unreal that he isn't there anymore, I remember every experience I've had with this series. Reading the first tome a hundred times, getting swept by my uncle's team of saibaimen in budokai Tenkaichi 2 on the ps2, rushing my homework to go see dragon ball on TV, watching the movies on VHS when they came out, the shelf crammed full of dragon ball figures in my bedroom, the moment I started playing Dokkan back when AGL Super Vegito released and never dropping it since...
I'm sorry for the big message but I just had to pay my respects to this franchise that influenced my life in so many ways, feel free to share your best experiences under my comment if you want

I found dragon ball at roughly 1am, on cartoon network, when I was 9-10yrs old and couldn't sleep in my mom's new house after my parents split up. This absolutely jacked blonde hero, fighting one of the creepiest animated characters I've ever seen with a voice like a snake, on a planet literally exploding around them, changed my life forever. It got me through that adjustment. It carried me through college. I am a grown man and I still imagine myself going super Saiyan when I need motivation to finish a workout, run that last 1/2 mile, or keep grinding to build my small business after shutting it down for the day at my 9-5.
I'd never have been able to thank him properly, even if I'det him. There are just no words that could explain how much his art has meant to be. I'm in his debt forever. I'll be 80 years old and still firing off pretend kamehamehas in my bathroom mirror.
Take care Sensei, you will be missed.

Rip to the man who created a series so very near and dear to my heart. As a child growing up in the late 90's early 2000's, going through middle school, there was something resonate, relatable about being able to clench your fists, scream and everything around you gets blown away by power and rage. Rest in peace Akira.
The first time I saw dragonball was the Tree of might. Then the ocean dubs where I started to buy every VHS of 3 episodes a piece, remembering it transitioning from the ocean dub from the funimation dub during the Ginyu force fights and the rest is history.

I'm still crying my eyes out, even without ever having met the legend.. You still felt like you knew him, or had met him just through how much his work speaks for him, how pronounced and clear his style is... To create arguably the best Manga/Anime yet, and probably ever... and then be the inspiration to arguably the next 2 biggest anime's following dragonball...
To be an inspiration to not only the now older or past generation... but even the present, and absolutely future.. it's insane, this loss simply cannot be described truthfully..
The hole left in his presence is big enough to bring "Rivaling" anime/manga fanbases together in grief, enough to be felt in every single corner of this world, enough to be felt regardless of background, culture...
I can't even imagine to pain to those close to him, his friends, even those that worked with him on his works... I hope everyone has a proper period of grief.. Just remember that he would spur you on to get the best from yourself, and he's up there smiling as he always did... His memory and legacy will forever live on...
From the bottom of all our hearts.... Thank you... Thank you Toriyama.. May you rest in peace.

I remember being in Highschool, watching a lot of the DB AF animations on UA-cam, well before a lot of the DMCA claims became an issue and people could pretty much freely use any music they wanted, people made literal shows out of all of this insane fan content with things like SSJ5 Goku/Vegito, Super Mystic Gohan, Multiverse Tournaments, anything you could imagine, and it really filled that hole after the long break from the end of Z/GT other than the video games, and when Battle of Gods got announced, god it was like a fever dream. All the wild guesses on what a Super Saiyan God was, what it would look like.
I remember seeing fan art of a golden SSJ4 Goku vs Beerus and thinking it could've been real, because who doesn't like SSJ4, and when the movie came out I was a bit underwhelmed, but it really grew on me after DBS came out. Really wish I could rewatch Dragon Ball and have that same experience again. Wish the best for Toriyama's family, fans, and friends. We'll never forget him.

I started with DBZ Kai on Nicktoons during like 2010 or something. I was always late to “trends” or whatever you want to call it as a kid. Never got into multiplayer gaming until I got my 360 in 2010, before that I was always playing my WII lmao.

Toriyama not only created Dragon Ball itself, but influenced so many other pieces of media/art. Its crazy. It went deeper than anime. Toriyama was one of one. Nothing will touch dragon ball. People were watching Goku v Jiren on public displays on the fucking streets bro. I dont need to keep going cause we all know how amazing Toriyama was at this point. Im still so taken aback. He didnt know me but I have such deep gratitude for him that words cant express. Thank you so much for everything, Toriyama

This one hurts a lot, I still remember watching DB and DBZ episodes on TV with my family during my childhood. I honestly can't remember a moment in my life where I didn't know what Dragon Ball was. This man was responsible for creating so many amazing childhoods throughout the world, and to this day Dragon Ball is still my favourite piece of fiction of all time. Rest in peace Akira Toriyama, you will always be the king.

Its pretty amazing hearing so many different stories of how people were introduced to Dragon Ball and the fact that Akira had such a positive impact on peoples lives all over the world. I remember watching the Majin Buu saga and playing the Budokai Tenkaichi games on my ps2 as a kid, My mother also got me a DBZ drawing book before she passed away. I’m happy to have those experiences as a kid when it was still new and will cherish those memories forever

Some of my fondest memories come from dragon ball super, when the goku black arc was happening and when the tournament of power was in full force, my brother would always tell me when a new episode was out, tell me all about it and you know I went and watched it after that. Dragon ball might not have been a major part of my childhood all the way through but there are some fond memories that wouldn't exist without it.

Toriyama was my childhood as a lot of people can agree, but he's the entire reason i got into art, Him and Toyotarou have shaped who I am, and this feels like I've lost a massive part of my life. I still remember my shitty ass drawings I would make sitting Infront of the TV sketching out my favorite characters... He holds a special place in my heart and will always have it.

When i had seen the news last night while playing Helldivers with friends i just had to completely stop everything i was doing because i just couldn't wrap my head around all of this. Dragon ball has been with me since i was around 8-10 years old and i had turned on the TV late at night and caught an episode of dbz when Cell first showed up in Gingertown and continued to watch to the end of Cell saga. Watched all the way from DB and then into DBZ as i could from dvds.

Most of the most popular anime wouldn't have ever been created without him inspiring so many. It is truly a monumental loss. RIP legend. He will always be remembered. I just want to share a personal story about the most impactful memory that Akira Toriyama allowed me to have.
In 2014, I was trying to open an anime shop, and my planned grand opening happened to coincide with the release of Dragon Ball Z Battle of the Gods. I was at the movie theater on the release day passing out flyers to everyone who loved Dragon Ball just as much as I did, and because of the love that everyone shares for Dragon Ball, that grand opening ended up being a success.
That was the greatest day of my life, and without this great man and his great works, that would have never been possible.
Thank you Toriyama Sensei, for giving the world such a gift in influencing so much of all of our lives!
RIP to one of the greatest creative minds to have ever lived.

It was going to be my 2500th day login on my global account today, I went to sleep looking forward to that and also looking forward to when I would wake up so I could see what AGL SSJ3 Goku's kit would be post Super-EZA, and I was not prepared to be hit with the shocking news that morning about Akira Toriyama's passing. I first really fully got into anime through Dragon Ball Super 8 years ago when they were teasing the Goku Black arc with Trunks and Mai, so Dragon Ball means a lot to me and I have a lot of gratitude for Akira Toriyama. Rest in peace Akira Toriyama, and thank you for inspiring so many people through your creations. ❤
